  1. I dont think you have any right to be bashing Simonson for quitting unless you KNOW the circumstance. Knowing does not mean that someone told you that he quit because practice was to hard. He has to sit out and serve his transfew suspension and will not be able to play Varsity this year. Why aren't you ripping on McBain for transferring??

On a side note, Tyrel McBain was nothing special in the JV game. Not a very strong skater, he doesnt pass the puck, and shoots it every oppertunity he has. I think he will be battling for any playing time on varsity.

There is a huge difference in why Simonson left and why Mcbain left. First Mcbain didnt ditch his team in the middle of the season by walking off of practice. Mcbain didnt leave because of the coach or practices. He left in hoping to get noticed and play better teams. Simonson left cause he didnt like the coach and he thinks he is way better then he is.

  2. He is an average player on an average team.

Since when does grafton play Kitteson Central? I think he lit it up against those dandys. I hear NHL Central Scouting is looking at him pretty closely, I actually heard someone say he got a couple looks at the World Junior team.

    this makes alot of sense

  3. I dont care about there wins and losses, I think that you can not determine the best team in the state by non-conferences games like south against white bear or RR against egf. Yes, Fargo South's win against WBL looks impressive but they had 2 empty net goals and also WBL isn't as strong as they have been in the past. Now in the case of RR and EGF, i went to the game and RR could have easily won 8-2 but Alex Christenson played unbelievable as he usually does, also in a rivalry game EGF, GFC, and GFRR always play tight games. Now as far as Grafton, West fargo, and Fargo North, how do we know that RR wont blow out Grafton and North, and West Fargo is always a scrappy team so if i were South I wouldnt overlook them. But the only way we will know for sure is to wait for early january in Fargo. RR vs. FS , start making your travel plans its gonna be a good one.

I dont think you can look past any team in the east. of course i dont mean waph. i do agree south is the team to beat but they are beatable.

  4. This was just a real frustrating game to watch. Nothing went right for grafton, and north capitalized on their chances. Graftons team appears to be pretty young and I think they will improve a lot this season. North played well scoring goals after being down by a couple early in the game. Powerplays helped north a lot tonight. I think grafton played hard but got confused with playing hard and obstruction. So I don't necessarily think grafton gave up, they just looked frustrated. Players of the game, Tyler Klein looked good as he skated the puck well and was rewarded with 1 or 2 goals, norths goaltender made some good saves (not sure on his name), Chad Demers had a couple for grafton, and Tanner Hills had a few points looking good up and down the ice.

Tanner Hills is the best team player grafton has. Its nice to see Demers score he will shine this season>

  5. Well, I not sure what to say as we would have to sit and watch a game together and compare notes. Consider this - Juniior A refs are better than high school refs - more experience typically, more training, better pay so theoretically they are better in how they officiate - most high school refs could not qualify for junior A work. At the D-1 level, those refs are theoretically even better. So, again, theoretically they should do a better job. Now I know that there are fans who hate certain WCHA refs and so forth but generally speaking the refs at the next higher level should have a better grasp of the game and should do a better job. I think in most cases they do.

Very true why I think kids will start leaving more.

  6. Lives-to-play-hockey must be the best player in the state either now or sometime in his playing career because I haven't read one positive thing come out of his mouth and from what I can tell his comments are foolish. The state is not down, every year people graduate and look back on the state and see boys playing that they were once better than. But without realizing it younger players do improve. I will agree there is not a whole lot of people I would have considered a Mr.Hockey candidate before the season, but a lot happens around the age of 18 and certain players can mature that were not once thought of as standouts, or the fact they might have been overshadowed as an underclassman and now have a chance to be a team leader. As for the state being down, there might not be a whole lot of standout seniors, but there is still a lot of talent across the state.

Agree reminds me alot of 2000.

  7. You could be the stupidest person on this board. READ YOUR POST what do you think I was refering to. GPR's goals or SOUTH"S goals. Please apoligize to all of us.

Your a little defensive. I thought you were saying GPR's goals werent so good. I just dont see how you can say that GPR is down. Cause of the loss of four players did you see how good Mohagen Demers Hills Boyle Gaustad played. Everyone of these players will amaze people by Feb.

  8. A couple not so good goals? What game were you watching?

O, sorry they did reload. I mean their team sprung right back to where it ended last year. Their offense is down their Defense is down and their goaltending is way down. What makes you think the reloaded?

No they dont have a 60 point guy this year but they do have about 6 or 7 guys that will score 30 or more points. And if you were watching the South GPR game you would have noticed that 5 on 5 GPR had an edge and how could you say they werent nice goals. a one timer and a top shelf backhand. come on buddy..

  9. Ok I realize you are alittle biased so this might not due any good, but think about this you lost a large part of your offense (Campbell cousins), by Far your best and the only respectable defensman on the team last year in Andy Peterson, and your best goalie by a long shot. What are you just going to reload? I mean seriously if GPR isn't down I want to know what the definition of down is. GPR is soft in all aspects of defensive hockey. GPR will not be a factor with their goaltending and putred defense. South on the other hand has the Goaltending, They definatly have holes and their strength is not their defensmen only a moron would think that. If they are going to get it done it is all about their goalie. BTW north is brutal, they have a snowballs chance in hell of finishing ahead of my alma mater Central. If you had any credibility before that statement it is long gone now.

GPR isnt has bad as you think at D. Ryan Hills and Peterson looked good. Feltman got much better as the game went on Paulson and Mccann werent terrible. As far as reloading i think they proved they did reload last night. Being on penalty kill the whole game they still managed 22 shots that tied South. Both goals by GPR were made by sophmores. There best line was there sophmore line. Miller and Tanner Hills had terrible games and will get it going soon and will put up nice numbers. And yeah Sand let in a couple not so good goals but also made so really big saves he will only get better. GPR dressed something like 11 sophmores and what did South have one i think. Again shots 22-22. Just give it time..

  10. I don't know if you can read but the name of the thread is North Dakota High School Hockey, not to be confused with Red River, GPR, and South Fest 07. The great thing about this thread is that we can take in all different opinions and wait for all 18 teams, not just the three you feel are important, to play it out in a fun exciting season of hockey.

First of all if i couldnt read I wouldnt reply. I do think its great express away I was just giving my opinion. The three teams talked about are heads above the rest and should be talked about more. And i think people are giving Jamestown and Devils Lake credit that is undeserved

  11. Jamestown skated against north with 1 varsity line and 1 varsity set of D and a JV line and a JV set of D and played a goalie who hasn't seen a puck in 3 years for half the game..considering that, they played insanely well. And against DL on monday they only had 7 penalties which, compared to last year and the new rules being called, is a huge step up.

What dont you guys understand Jamestown is not good. Devils Lake is not good either and what was the score 6-5 jeez people wake up... Once they play some body worth while then talk..Til then all the talk should be about Red River GPR and South. The only three teams that do it year in and year out.

  12. Well...I told you his credentials at the beginning of it all...he scored 27 points his sophomore year in the EAST on a 6th seed team. Last year he had points in the teens, I don't know what it was exactly. Everybody was saying how good DL was gonna be in the East this year because they impressed so many people last year in the west and tied Grafton and didn't lose too many players. I think Welding should be given just as much a chance at getting it as Zach Miller, Tyler Klein and Danny Wurden...

  13. Ok above they said the players playing elites have been playing with these rules and will be adapted to the change well if this is the case the Nic Spenningsby will be fine because he has been playing elites and i am positive Jamestown will be in the top 4 in there conference and will surprise all you people who say they wont. how can you say the top 4 teams arent as effected they could have just as many penalties as the lower 4 teams but they just have more skill. Jamestown will be one of the better teams in high school hockey this year.

Well I am sure Jamestown will do fine in the west. But wont be one of the better teams in the state. Minot will be about all that is coming out of the west put the the number 4 team from the east in the west and they will win the west.
