  1. I will be in Minneapolis for the Vikings vs. Cowboys game - is it a safe bet to go to Senser's and be able to watch the game?

Sensers in Bloomington is about 5 miles from my house. I get the channel on DirecTV so I am sure they do too.

  2. It's now actually listed in the tv guide for Friday now. Thanks.

Not sure why I am so lucky to have it on two channels in EP - but I will take it!

On a side note. Does anyone know if KAWE will carry all the home Bemidji games? That would be a nice Easter Egg after recently switching to DirecTV!

  4. FSN Rocky Mountain aired a Sioux/Denver game in HD earlier this season....hopefully we see more Sioux games in HD in the future!

Since I do not get FSN Rocky Mountain I did not know about this. I did see those games on FCS which picked up the FSN RM feed, but unfortunately it was only in SD. This weekend will be my first time seeing the Sioux in HD on the BTN, but lucky for me it will be from my DVR as there will be several of us heading to "The John" for the games.

Sioux/Gophers week - what could be better? Go Sioux!

  5. Hmmmm.....what to do, what to do....

If you can hook a laptop or PC up to your TV I would suggest paying fightingsioux.com the $60. The quality is pretty good and as mentioned before, there are a few road games each year that are offered at no extra charge. Before last season I bought a PC just to hook up in my entertainment center. Between fightingsioux.com, other schools' webcasts, Fox College Sports, and FSN-North, I can not recall a game I wasn't able to watch. Just my two cents!

10 days until the puck drops - Go Sioux!

  6. Did anyone happen to buy the webcast from Tech's site? I was wondering if they put the games under the "On Demand" section like UND does. I couldn't tell without signing up and I don't feel like paying the $12 or whatever to find out.

Hopefully tonight we can pick up 2 more points!

  7. I have several interested parties and still need to make a phone call to see how many I still have available. The tickets are general admission in the student section however the tickets do say "Beer Allowed". Our cost with the various charges was $48.60 per seat.

My understanding is that these tickets would be in the upper bowl.

Since I have had so many requests if you are still interested in these tickets please send another PM with an offer.

My Wife and I have General Admission tickets and plan to stand in the Bar behind the club seats. I think the point of a General Admission ticket is to allow you to get in the door. As long as there is an open seat (or open space for that matter) anywhere in the Ralph, it is fair game!

  8. in the Cities, i only get NHL in HD. I can't believe their going to put our play-by-play team on that channel..... ;)

Do you have Comcast? I do and I signed up for the sports package last night and whatever was on the NHL Network wasn't in HD. I would imagine the cameras at The Ralph are not HD so either way my guess is tonight's game will just be standard def.

  9. There is a thread titles Roadtrip planning, but I wanted to ask here. Many bars have been named as places to hangout before the game. Is there one that people have heard as the consensus? BWW is fun, but is BlueBricks better?

We only made it down for the Saturday game last year but hit up Blue Bricks and Pub 500 (one before and one after) both were pretty good. Since we will be down for both games this year maybe we will stop by B-Dubs at some point. Bottom line, there isn't really a bad place to go and everything is right next to the arena. If you were to drop The Ralph in downtown Grand Forks it would be similar to how Mankato is set up. It was a ton of fun last year and I am hoping this year will be the same!

    Go Sioux!

  10. Mankato tickets do not go on sale until Oct 1

October 1st? I had it marked down on my calendar as October 6th.

We went to Mankato last year for just the Saturday night game. It was a blast so we are going to hit up both games this year. We also made the Saturday St. Cloud game, but I found Mankato a much better time.

Let's get this season started already! Go Sioux!

  11. Recap of last year....

Living in Twin Cities, which is a hockey wasteland if you want to watch a quality product, :D , had digital cable package and saw Sioux vs. BC on CSTV in the Fog game that ended after two periods. I believe I saw them on CSTV one more time during the season.

My FTA picked up all the home games; no signal issues last year so got to see all those games.

Charter Cable started carrying a WCHA series of the week and showed the Sioux @ Mankato series. Drove down to Saturday's game; Sioux killed them!

Sioux @ Badgers was on 1 night I believe...Sioux @ UMTC on Fox Sports both nights...Went to Sensers on a Friday night and saw the Sioux against the Gwoz and DU...Drove to Duluth for the Saturday game when Trupp got hurt...Final Five games carried on FSN...Saw the Princeton regional game, don't remember what channel...talked my buddy who had Dish Network to upgrade his package for one day to catch the regional Final against the Badgers...Blacked out after one period in the National Semifinal on ESPN2...Did we win?

Now they are talking about having a WCHA Network/game of the week? It's definitely moving in the right direction...

I enjoy listening to the Sweeney...yeah he's Cheesy and a bit of a homer but still a 1000 times better than Hairhat and the Woogster on FSN...The only thing they need to improve on is putting the PP time on the screen somewhere, anywhere!

It's all good...with $12 gas (soon) this beats driving to the Forks...

I also live in the Twin Cities and had relatively good luck watching my favorite team last year. I would connect my trusty laptop to my LCD TV and was able to pick up all home and most away games. Between my SlingBox, (hooked up in GF and which crapped out towards the end of the season) the Sioux-Xtra, B2TV.com, CSTV.com, and other schools' web casts most of the games can be seen without a dish.

As my laptop has gained another year in age and is really getting slow, I plan to buy a new desktop PC this fall and place it in my entertainment center, directly connected to my TV. I would estimate the video quality of my laptop to be about 75% of a regular SD broadcast so I am hoping my new setup will be even better.

I also agree with you on Sweeney - It would be really strange to have someone else calling the home games.

I was encouraged by Comcast this past year. They actually started to pick up some of the Charter feeds, but I was a little disappointed when I asked them for a schedule of games they expected to air and they told me to contact the schools. It seemed like I would just have to tune in at 7 or 7:30 those nights to see if one would be on.

  12. It was a heck of a ride that had to end sometime. Thanks for the great year, good luck to those who will not be back, and I look forward to those who will be back next year. You guys added another great chapter in the story that is UND Fighting Sioux Hockey!

  13. Since there was nothing else to do tonight - I just got done with the 1987 championship game. I have said it all season, but I think it is now confirmed - TJ is the best puck handler for UND since Hrkac. Hrkac obviously played during a different era, but I think TJ is the best handler since Hrkac. Please ridicule me if you feel different.

Go Sioux! Number 8 is only a few days away!

  14. That was just to throw off Goon and Fetch and the rest of the hillbillies :) Anyone who was there will agree - it was an amazing turnout, handled as well as could be expected by the staff at the Al and great publicity for Grand Forks! This is a "community" thread, isn't it?

Yes it is - and did he chime in the "yes we can" message? As much as I would like to see BO in there above HC, McCain is the guy that will actually solve problems rather than ignore them. BO and HC are idealists that seem to think their "message" will solve problems. McCain is the only one with enough experience to move this country in the direction it sorely needs.

  15. We were thinking the same thing. They get big crowds all year long, and then have a measly showing at the Regional!! What's with that?

The same thing happened a few years ago at The John when the Gophers hosted a regional. A great day weather-wise, and the Gophers were playing to go to the Frozen Four. You couldn't give tickets away on the street. It was the year, as I recall, that Cornell, Maine, and maybe Ohio State were in the West.

Go Sioux too!! We have the best fans in the world, and that was proven again throughout Madison, in The Kohl, and in sportsbars everywhere, from Australia to The Netherlands, from Anchorage to Brazil, from Timbuktu to Tibet, all across America, and especially in Grand Forks and in the heart of so-called Gold Country.

I agree! We were at Sensor's last night in Bloomington - there had to be 100+ Sioux fans in there. I have never heard a restaurant be so loud!

    Two more W's for #8!

    Go Sioux!
