  1. I did?

Since we need to be straight forward it was sarcasm.

It does go back to one of my points, on a message board you can't tell the mood/emotion of a post. Thus, some posts in certain peoples minds will always be negative it they don't see it the same way.

Out, won't reply to anything else Vince!

  2. Again, objectivity and debate are great. Never said anything to the contrary. I too question what UND does and how they do things at times, both administratively and in athletic competitions.

Go back and re-read what I wrote:

Curious what made you reply to that......did you feel like I was calling you out?

lol....I could give a $hit it you feel that way....good for you! My main point if you read my post again, was that I agree with you on a few things but we are on a message board so what do you expect. Everyone is going to post things and hide behind an alias. Some wear greener glasses than others. What made me reply to this post? The fact that if someone goes against UND on here they are "supposedly called out". Just like you came back and said......pretty damn interesting!

Also, my other points were we are in a transition with a trending of questionable decisions, we aren't winning, other regional schools stuck together. Oh and you called me out :)

Sorry for too many facts in this posts!

  3. Show me where I have said that I dont have high expectations for my UND (my alma mater) and dont want the best for it. Also, where I said I will settle for mediocrity?

Do I agree with everything they do and have done? No. But I dont come on here with my hair on fire and start acting like the sky is falling every time something happens that I dont like. Is that prerequisite in order to not play second fiddle to anyone? It's one thing to be objective, which is great. It's entirely another to be overtly pessimistic and negative all the time. Some people ONLY are heard on here when the bad stuff happens, and I despise that.

The overall climate on this board has changed dramatically over the last 2 years or so. I wouldnt say for the better either. I dont frequent here as much as I used to because of it.

Sorry for getting off-topic. I will now yield to the topic at hand...

    Vince,

I agree with some of the things you are saying but as you know I am passionate about UND too but lets face it. We are seeing more "pessimistic" comments due to questionable decisions made within the past couple of years that we have never had to make before. Plus not all the decisions that have been made by administration personal have paid off and we now suffer on and off the field because of it. It is two fold, part of the transition and part of turnover in administration. At this current time at UND some feel there is a trend of questionable decisions being made which have affected us negatively in our transition while our core Dakota schools seem to have stuck together in the end leaving us in a separate conference. Not saying it is good or bad but it is a fact right now. Everyone has their own opinion and with social media these days, you are going to here about it if you go on a message board. Also, UND is not winning at the rate we are use to. You will always hear more comments when you are losing than winning but more importantly you have to look at everything with an open view point. It is never bad to debate a move but don't always think it is pissing and mooning if someone comes on and questions what UND is doing. The hardest thing about messages boards is determining someones mood or emotion about their post.

    Peace!

  4. Who cares about USD? All their leadership has proven is that they have zero integrity, much like the leadership of NDSU and SDSU. I hope they enjoy the Summit League playing against other garbage schools like IUPUI and IPFW. They are their peers after all. I'm still ecstatic we are in the Big Sky. Screw USD, screw the Summit, and screw the MVFC.

Yeah, screw everyone and never take any accountability on ourselves that we have put ourself in this situation. BAM!!! That was the 2X4 across the head. When are we going to wake up? Like I tell my business partners, some problems are you problems and YOU need to figure them out. Thus, UND needs to changes things and it isn't always someone elses fault.

    Peace all and Go Sioux!!!

  5. I think you need to read who wrote the original post bc it was an ndsufan who doesn't mind taking jabs at us.

The NDSU posters has a great point and response was we should care who our travel partner is because the rest of the BSC cares.

  6. Who cares?

Take off your kelly green sun glasses and look at this with an outsiders view point. The whole fricken conference cares!! I really hope you are not serious. Love the passion but wake up!

  7. You can have the Summit/Independent. I'll take the Big Sky for all sports. Sitting and waiting for the Summit offer and than being an independent in football is a lack of vision. That was the only given in this whole process. It has yet to be seen how the current set up will play out. Maybe it will be terrible but I still think we are better off being in the Big Sky. Others can laugh all they want, I won't lose any sleep over it. Bottom line is there are a lot of good things going on at UND right now, some that have not even been announced yet and a decision by USD is not going to change that.

homer - You are missing the whole point and here is a fact for you. If UND waits a week to announce the acceptance with USD none of this happens and we are both in the same conference as travel partners. Please don't tell me big things have not been announced yet without telling us, otherwise the only big thing is the your own ego by saying this! We all know there is going to be an indoor practice facility. It was talked about when I was playing there and I am getting old. You don't care if others are laughing, especially when they are recruits. Oh, now you care!

  8. I don't think the Big Sky would have withdrawn the invitation if UND had held out a few more days.

And UND and USD were not in completely different situations. They were in slightly different situations.

Totally agree with you, Fasion and Kelly go to the state board to speed up the process for the removal of the nickname so we can get a site visit from the summit. Next, the summit is going to visit but we decide to cancel the visit because the BSC offers a full membership which we accept right away without our so called "partner" USD getting the proper agreements necessary because we wanted to look like big shots! So, USD struggles to get the approvals and in the mean time the MVFC invites USD to their conference starting 2012. One of the struggles was the buyout money which UND should have been talking to USD and maybe even helped them out in that scenerio so we have our partner. Why not wait and make it a package deal with USD? I thought we were travel partners and partners throughout the transition. So, why not wait a week and stroke your own ego until everyone is on the same page? Yeah, we look like idiots again just like we did when RT thought it was dumb to move up to DIAA. We have a serious problem with leadership at UND for the past 10-15 years.

Please don't come back and say it is hindsight because USD left us and we didn't see it coming. YOU JUST DON'T LET IT COME DOWN TO THAT!!! You cover your ass. We deserve to be the only team within 800 miles to our closest conference member. We deserve it if Montana and Montana State leave and are stuck with a $hity conference. What are you going to tell me next? The alumni need to donate more because of the expenses while the people asking for the money don't know their head from their @$$. Yeah, I am taking some shots here but they are well deserved. If you don't think this is accurate you are only kidding yourself. If and when others laugh at us we should almost be laughing at ourselves for the terrible moves we have made.

Alright, I think that covers a little bit of what is on my chest about our horse $hit administration but my main point is UND lacks of strategic vision!!!!

  9. QUOTE (thequestionguy @ Nov 9 2009, 10:33 PM)

I agree with those thoughts completely but do you think MM doesn't know the 3-4? It basically boils down to JK calling the defense and he doesn't know the 3-4, he's a 4-3 guy from Augie who went way back with Mussman. We could save alot of time and energy and give the play calling to Mannausau as I am pretty sure we would see many of the same things we were used to seeing before Kelling came into the mix.

MM should be calling the plays. But the big question is.... is Muss willing to change the rolls and take away the play calling duties from his BFF and turn them over to MM? Only time will tell. And I assume some of that decision will be based on the Ds performance in Nov.

These two posts are right on and it is totally up to Muss, what he will do is anybodies guess? I hope he makes the correct decision because if he goes the wrong way it will affect UND FB until all new coaches come in.

  10. This is the fourth year of the "co-defensive coordinator" situation. Since it's inception, the secondary has been, for lack of a better term, horrible, and has not improved at all really over the course of those four years. This, despite the fact that North Dakota has some of the best athletes of recent memory playing in the defensive backfield. Kelling is in charge of the secondary. I'm not sayin', I'm just sayin'. On the bright side, we are 1-2 heading into the home opener, just as I predicted. :D And at least we're not 1-3. :D

Totally agree with this posts! Our secondary is awful and it is not because of the athletes, we really need to take a deep look into this area. I know there are other factors that come into play but to have this many years of horse crap play out of this group is unacceptable in my mind. Peace!

  11. That's a good get, but it would have been much better two-three years down the road so it could have been a value to Florida recruiting.

Hey Einstein, it is a great game to schedule this year too.

  12. If the nickname is eliminated, there will inevitably be a backlash. For how long and to what extent that backlash occurs, nobody can predict.

Regarding the stats on people with similar test scores and qualifications yet different ethnic backgrounds getting a differing amount of scholarship dollars:
Its JMHO, but that isn't a University of North Dakota concern-rather it's a concern for your state's entire college system, and the higher education system throughout the US as well
    .

Then tell me why the other state universities don't have all these NA programs, I agree with you but UND has significently more than other universities.

  13. This may have been discussed before and I am not aware of it but if we do change our nickname/logo would the university discontinue some of the Native American Programs. Also, how about the scholarships given to those Native Americans? Isn't it discrimation by ethnic group if 80% of the Native Americans get a scholarship and only 15% of Asians get a scholarship when they meet the same criteria except for their ethnic background. Just some thoughts!

I was all for the nickname and believed we should fight it until the end but the PC has gotten out of hand and we may never conquire this battle.

  14. Because of immediately being able to identify them , I like the idea of the bolded schools. At this point, I would be willing to travel there next year with return game in the future and huge buyout clauses.

I don't know much about the other "surname schools" or Stony Brook though.

You might want to re-type this because "at this point" you can kiss goodbye a team signing a huge buyout clause for a return game.

  15. The unwritten rule is hands off.

    CDog,

Maybe this is the rule as you perceive it to be but it is open market. It just comes down to how much time do you want to spend on a kid who says he is going to another college.

  16. No question, Gulf Coast deserves credit for probably playing their best game of the year (per their coach) at the best possible time. But if you asked me point blank--what was the biggest reason Gulf Coast not only won that game, but won it convincingly despite no size, limited depth and frankly having less overall talent? At least in that particular game, they were much better coached. Before anybody jumps all over me, I'm not contending that Roebuck is a poor coach by any means. It's just that he has some weaknesses, and they were exposed on that particular night, just as they were often exposed in games against NDSU when UND was favored, and recently in a few games against St. Cloud State. For example, have people noticed that when things start really going bad how they seem to continue to go that way until the end of the game? Such as when the Sioux have blown big leads, even at home? IMO, Roebuck simply doesn't possess that calming influence that a lot of great coaches have, and know when to use. He is much more apt to throw a tantrum, which doesn't exactly make the players play any less scared or tight. I thought for certain that the team would come out to start the second half with fire in their eyes and at some point at least make a run to cut the lead into single digits. It didn't happen. Quite the opposite, in fact. That disappointed me even more than that horrible last 10 minutes of the first half.

Without naming any names, I was told prior to the game by somebody who knows A LOT about basketball, and who was a great player at UND, that on paper the Sioux were 20 points better than Gulf Coast. I truly believe that. So people can draw their own conclusions about what caused that alleged 40 point swing.

WOW!! There is a lot a BS posted there UND 92, 96. I normally agree with the things you have to say but when the hell are the players held accountable? Everyone wants to point the finger as someone, how about shooting poorly? Did Roebuck miss some of those bunnies or wide open shots or did the girls? By the looks from the box score the girls did, although I am no rocket scientist. Whenever you have 20+ turnovers is it the coaches fault the girl dribbled in traffic and had the ball swiped or the coaches? WIN AS A TEAM LOSE AS A TEAM! No one ever said these things when they were winning NC.

  17. I know exactly what you are saying SiouxMD but with M BB producing fans all over the country with a trip to the big dance, in-turn would help the popularity of the other sports and their fan base. As by my previous statements I have made, my choice was a trip to the big dance. Just think if we had a team make the field of 64 and then win the NT in hockey within a month of each other. I guarantee you it would generate a lot more popularity amongst all the sports at UND and a huge buzz in the region for a few years.

  18. Well I hate to burst all the hockey and football fans out there but ONE Mens College basketball trip to the Big Dance would generate more PR in the sports world than 2 football national titles and 3 hockey titles because College BB is that much more popular overall. This is also coming from a guy who played FB at UND and is married to someone who won 2 national titles in women's bb.

  19. Let me make this very clear for the thinking impaired... the only way the Sioux and Bison should ever set foot on the same football field at the same time is if they should happen to meet up in a playoff game.

And you and LAKESBISON should only post when you're sitting in the same room and nobody else around.

  20. "Oh Ye of little faith" - The score tells all. Our women are pretty deep. What was it for bench points? UND 24 or 26, SCSU 2? Sannes had some really good minutes. She's a big girl who can do some banging. Her fouls inside are really key! They were really tight the first few minutes...... They're going to be ok. Got a huge "head win." Bergen's two three's were huge too......

sportsforever...settle down! I just thought SCSU would win. I wasn't cheering for them just thought posed some mathc up problems for us.

  21. I agree. Let's also keep in mind that even Dressler wasn't considered to be super-fast until his senior year of track, AFTER he signed with UND. Prior to that, he was still a great football player, and a pretty good 800 meter runner, but not really a sprinter. Maybe Solum will get faster over the next few years (not that he's slow--he qualified for state in the 100 as a soph. and jr.); or maybe he plays faster than his 40 time would suggest. Regardless, I think he was the best skill position player in ND this year, and I'm very pleased that he'll be playing for the Sioux.

Keep in mind Jerry Rice/Terrel Davis only ran a 4.7 40. People put way too much stock in numbers these stays and that is why you are seeing way more busts in the NFL draft now because some guy runs a 4.3 40 but can't cover anyone or catch a cold. I know these are examples of NFL but in general people get wrapped up in numbers way too much. Yeah, there is a difference in 4.5 and 4.7 but if the 4.7 can switch directions without losing the speed then give me the 4.7 guy.
