  1. Where will the softball team be once UND fully joins the Big Sky? Stay in Great West? I see that a couple of the Big Sky schools are in something called the PCSC with an assortment of schools out west.

  2. Dude, you embarrass our fanbase with your grammar, spelling, and your itchy trigger finger with coaches (Mussman and Hakstol). Please please refrain from posting until you have sobered up, or if your posts aren't related to alcohol, get hooked on phonics, google some spelling lessons, I'm just not sure. I am just sick of your dimwitted posts. Yes, this loss hurts, but this team had a hell of a year. It is clear you don't like Hak, perhaps you know him personally, maybe you are a janitor and clean his office and are upset that he makes what he does, but man, it gets old. Give this team and this coaching staff some credit.

    He has a point though.

  3. Per Dom Izzo tweet, Illinois State planning a move to FBS. Will the Valley be looking for another member? Could be an option if UND is kicked out of the BSC.

Illinois State President says wants to move football program from #FCS to FBS, stadium just approved for 25 million dollar renovation

I guess they could add another team, but I thought adding USD was due in part to stuff like this, like an insurance policy. If Illinois State leaves, it puts the conference back at 9 members, an ideal number.

  4. He is who he is. I guess when you put it out in public though, these kind of articles will be written. Unfortunately, God is not a "hip" topic right now. If Rocco was talking about gay/lesbian rights; "going green"; or something like that, he would be celebrated as a hero.

Personally, I like that he is willing to take a stand on something that is important to him, I don't believe he will be a "cancer" in the room like some people from opposing fanbases have postulated.

Agree 100%. I believe if anything, he will be a good influence, as long as he doesn't force his beliefs on anyone, and become overbearing.

  5. First I want to say that I am will be sad when the Fighting Sioux name is goine. My dad played BB for UND, I have been a Fighting Sioux fan since the '60's. As a fan of the University of North Dakota, I don't want the athletic department and for that matter the entire university dragged through the mud and slime for years to come. The Big Sky has threatened to not allow membership, Minnesota and Wisconsin will not play UND, and others will follow. UND would likely be an independent and stuck on an island in the arctic. Sica use of the word pariah, will be pretty accurate.

There is an SBoHE this meeting this Thursday in Minot. Action needs to be taken.

Jon Backes (current Board president) and Grant Shaft (Board president July 1st) are both UND law school graduates and I'm sure will get this moving, with all that has transpired in the past few days.

The SBoHE needs to take control of the nickname issue back from the legislature. Constitutionally, it IS theirs to control. They need to advise Dalrymple and Stenehjem of their intent, so they are not blindsided (I doubt that they would be, but courtesy would dictate advising).

The SBoHE then directs UND to retire the name. UND will follow direction as stipulated by the SBoHE, as UND is under their authority.

Yes, this likely head to court, but better sooner than later.

What won't happen?? The NCAA is not going to change their mind. They are not going to allow a law passed after a settlement agreement was made to force them to change their mind. It won't stand up legally, so they have no reason to back down. They will continue to point to the settlement and say they are done with the issue and impose sanctions, should UND maintain use of the Fighting Sioux name.

I am a fan of the University of North Dakota and will always be, no matter what the nickname is.

    I agree, good post.

  6. The "suspect" drives a tan Mitsubishi and lives 80 miles from work... no wonder he's pissing vinegar all the time. I wonder how his employer, Fox TV, is taking his new found celebrity? They can't be happy that they have an employee interviewed/suspected of threatening a public official.

Interesting how the "suspect" failed to mention his 2007 DUI conviction in ND... add lying to a sworn officer to his offenses.

Also read that his Minnesota Driver's License was 3 pages long... another impressive stat.

    Fine gentleman indeed.

What really stuck me is his age, nearly 40. Unbelievable. That dude needs to turn off his internet for a few (dozen) years.

  7. The season goes from February to May...it snows/rains, and floods every year up here. Either drop the program or get a dome.

Agreed. That or get the NCAA to wake up and move the season back a month. I bet more schools in the north would have baseball if the season started around the same time MLB does.

  8. No word on how they are financing this, but Williston businesses are practically rolling in dough now. Sounds like some major retail is moving into Williston too. For a sport "nobody" cares about, sure shows a lot of commitment. Strange how Williston State can afford this, and even Minot State is considering DI hockey, but NDSU can't.

You have to wonder where those schollies would come from for the women due to Title IX. They could add women hockey, drop a men's sport, or add some other women's sport. I don't know what other womans sport would make sense though. Would you honestly like to see NDSU with hockey? I don't. Montana or Montana State makes more sense.

  9. I can certainly understand that perspective. My point was more of how hard it will be to get any fans to those home games. Did NDSU ever have the weak of a home schedule when in transition? I don't remember although I know that had at least a few of these kind of joke games. Would be great if someone went back an looked to see if they ever had this bad of a home schedule. I am too lazy.

This site has information on team results from 1945, all college divisions and pro's too. Just click on NCAA DIAA to look at any team. I think someone at AGS found it, it is a handy site.

Here's the NDSU past schedules since you are lazy:

  10. Very depressing. The culture of alcohol consumption definitely changes once you get to college. Its "cool" now to get wasted beyond recognition.

I must have been one of the odd ones. I quit drinking when I turned 18 because I did not want to get in trouble. I didn't want anything on my record. And yes, I was the coolest guy in college. :D

  11. I was told we have the Gophers on the schedule for around 2015-16.

I just checked out the Gopher site, and they have SDSU listed for the 2015 season, and Indiana State for 2016.

They do have one open date in each of those seasons, but it's unlikely they would schedule a 2nd FCS school.

    2017 and beyond look open.

  12. I really don't think In and Out was looking for national expansion, at least that's what I heard. But I will say that 5 guys do cook some good burgers. Fries are good, but a little too greasy for me. You get a lot of food for your money though. I prefer In and Out over 5 guys, but that's personal preference, 5 guys is still an excellent burger chain, imho.

  13. Spanking is an outdated and flawed form of discipline. 30-40 years ago parents didn't know any better, but with all of the research that has been done in the modern era by child psychologists there is no excuse for any parent spanking a child in this day and age. Studies have proven that spanking teaches children that if somebody is doing something you don't like, and you're bigger than they are, that you have the right to hit them. Children who are spanked are much more likely to become bullies than children who are not spanked. That isn't to imply that parents shouldn't discipline their children, just that they should use more civilized methods. Taking away privileges (such as TV, internet, video games, etc...) is a much more effective method that does not leave the child feeling violated and intimidated in their own home. There are many out of control kids today because there are many parents who don't take the time to teach them right from right. Spanking kids does not teach them right from wrong, it only teaches them that you can hit people if you don't like what they're doing and you're bigger than they are.

I guess we know what form of punishment Brad Kelley's parents chose.
