  1. Haven't seen the whole game but from what I've seen of this and the Oregon game we need 2 changes. On offense, our guards try to set up the offense way to far out. Having 2 guards both 5-10 feet behind the three point line is useless and allows the defense to sag down even more. We have got to step up and be a threat to score from the outside. On defense, our rotation is horrid. Way to many free runners when we double and it allows for easy baskets.

Sounds reasonable to me. I haven't seen these problems before. Didn't see them against Wisconsin or NDSU.

  2. So are people satisfied with this result?

    Not really.

The team has been too reliant on Huff.

If Huff is going, that's wonderful. If he is not going, it's Cal-Poly.

There is too much talent on this team. It should have a place to turn when Huff is not happening. Huff was not happening against Cal-Poly and not happening when the deficit was built against Oregon.

One Huff started to happen. We played with Oregon.

  3. Until we win a regular season conference championship or go to the Big Dance, NDSU will still be ahead if us in basketball in the D1 era. NDSU has done both. We have done neither. Sure bearing them says a lot, but we still have some ground to make up before we have passed them.

Sure if you look at it from a decade view. This year UND is ahead and I'll take it.

Next year, it'll be tough for UND. 7 very good seniors graduate. Also, you have to consider the possibility that Coach Jones may get a good offer to coach elsewhere.

  4. Good post NDSUbison1

NDSU has a real nice team. Taylor Braun is a first rate player. I won't saying anything negative about the Bison team.

I think NDSU will have a big year. They have too much talent to not do real well in the Summit.

UND is just better, deeper. A lot of people in Fargo (and Grand Forks) are surprised by that. There are people in both towns who still don't realize it yet but it's true nonetheless.

It's the bottom line. It's not a slam on NDSU. It's praise of UND. Grand Forks basketball has been waiting for this. It's here!

  5. I will agree that some do, but I have seen plenty over the years that didn't. I remember a WR many years back that came in that was hyped up. He played the season (average at best) and was gone after Christmas. I would rather bring in someone from HS that can develop, learn the system and contribute over 4-5 years.

Fair enough but the RB need is critical.

  6. I agree completely I still don't see the fans showing up in large amounts this year unless we beat Oregon. I imagine they will show up for Weber State, SDSU and Montana though

Here's some news that may get the fill the seats juices flowing.

I believe Oregon is the only Top 25 team playing on Saturday. Oregon vs. UND becomes the most interesting game of the day by default.

If they compete and they will. Sportscenter highlights and more than a simple score recap with a couple of Ducks baskets before wrapping up with the NHL.

Could be analysts talking about the surprising North Dakota team. Jay Bilas or Bobby Knight may be scrambling to find out who they are surprised with.

It's gonna be a great year. This NDSU win was nothing! We will barely remember it in January.

  7. Nice e-mail sent out by UND athletics to encourage fans to come out to more games this year:

If the Fans don't come it will be a shame. This team deserves to have a full house every night. Even against Presentation.

  8. Of course UND is going to overlook Cal Poly!

    Oregon is the next day!

No Question about it -- UND will overlook Cal Poly. Count on it.

There is also no question that Cal Poly is going to overlook UND. They also play Pacific and Oregon on Sunday.

    It's a Wash

UND Beats Cal Poly by Double Digits -- UND Beats Oregon in a close one -- UND might get beat by Pacific because Pacific is no slouch but UND wins that one to.

That will be a great weekend for us and after the Oregon win, it will be welcome to the NCAA College Basketball map time for our program.

After Wisconsin, this team knows they can play with Oregon. This is where they fix the defensive mistakes against Wisconsin and get the 2nd crack at a Top 20 team.

It's going to be a year to remember! The Bison win will be viewed as routine by January.
