  1. I was happy to find this thread dusted off this morning. I was just thinking last night, trying to recall who had posted a thread about keeping the faith and through it all, St. Louis is where we would end up. Funny enough, here is that thread and off we go to St. Louis. You gotta like it!

    Go Sioux!

  2. siouxcrew87 has the right initials. Makes sense in my mind.

As a general wrap up to having remained out of this thread for a while I just wanted to say a couple other things. First, I'm glad to see other posts backing up some of the things I tried to say early on about things happening behind the scenes and for a while. Sometimes persons actions speak much louder that a persons words, even should they remain anonymous. Second, thank you and best of luck to Shantel, the hard work and consement professionalism are greatly appreciated.

I wish the best of luck to Coach Miller and hope a clean start after a Christmas break will hopefully provide a nice spark the rest of the way. To the team, keep up the hard work and playing as hard as you have been!

To those fans who go to games and have been supportive, thank you. To those that are starting to come in the fold, come join the fun, at some point this thing will take off and the sky is the limit. You'll be glad you were in at the beginning.

    Go Fighting Sioux!

  3. A WCHA team has won every DI Women's National Championship....it's, hands down, the toughest league in the nation. Finishing the season in the top half of the WCHA would be one hell of an accomplishment and something to rest your hat on, and to build a young program on.

I guess what I like about having a young team is- that no one can tell them what teams they can or cannot beat. Hit the ice and believe that you can win every game, work your ass off and you will be successful.

    That is all.

Exactly my thoughts. It doesn't matter if they should beat a team by 4 or lose by 4, go out, play your game and give it all you have and see what happens. I think some conference splits this year, more non-conference wins and we'll have a season to build on. Go out, give it your all and see what happens. GO SIOUX!

  4. I am still looking for the song when the lights dim in the arena and then "this song" is playing and the sioux come out on the ice and then the opposing team enters the ice. They have played this song against Manitoba and Qunnipiac.

I don't know it but I know what you're referring to, it almost reminded me like something you'd hear in a movie ala Gladiator. If you find it, keep us posted!

  5. I do understand different musical tastes, and I do understand the players selecting the music that is played, however, it seems as though it isn't quite the same feel without hearing "Right Now" by Van Halen. Here's to hoping REA can at least get that one back, the rest is fine. While this is different this year, it works for me, though definitely a change from previous years.

  6. Awesome work this weekend. Another come from behind victory (same in Manitoba Exhibition game) and that builds character. As Hockeymom says, Duluth will be tough, but in order to be the best you have to play the best right? Awesome effort ladies, keep it up and everyone keep up the great comments of support!!

    Go Sioux!

Hockeymom, how have the broadcasts been?

  7. I'm not going to argue with most of what you say, but people can support a program while still being critical of the coach. I have no first hand knowledge of the women's program, so this is a generic statement rather than any sort of indictment.

  8. While I view this season as another "growing" season, I still have faith in the program. This is only it's 5th season. We can't expect them to already have 7 banners hanging. All it takes is 1 or 2 good seasons (I would consider that a winning season), land a couple impact recruits, and this team could be nationally competative.

The best way that we as fans can help the team achieve this is to show up to games and show our support.

I can't give you a link for this or directly name a source, for obvious reasons, but I am hearing that the locker room atmosphere and attitude is much improved this year. I have been told that there were issues between some of the older skaters who were part of the program startup and the newer skaters. Hopefully, if true, this will translate into better on-ice results.

There was a news release a while back about one of the local radio stations broadcasting the women's home games. Does anyone know what station that might be?

    Thanks in advance!

Per the first two, it is nice to see some positive support around here and those who appear to be more plugged into the truth than others propose they are. Let us put it all aside and see what happens this year. With plenty of support, who knows what'll happen.

Per fightingsiouxfan57, the games will be on 1440 AM. I have yet to hear who will be calling the games.

    Go Sioux!

  9. Froats is headed home, Canada, to work with Marketing, Communications and Player Development with her former high school Athol Murray College of Notre Dame in Wilcox, SK. After many years of being away from numerous friend and family happenings in Canada, Dawn wanted to get back home. The hockey seasons, recruiting and school kept her away from being there for a lot of things and life is too short to miss out on anymore of those events. She strongly believes in this program here at UND, coaches, players and the future to come. Dawn will continue to stay in touch and be a key supporter even from Canada. As a friend of Dawn I'm sad to see her leave, but completely understand wanting to be closer to her family. She did many things in helping build this program and won't be forgotten. The rest of us must emdody her spirit and dedication to make this the most successful women's hockey program we can! Dawn's request!

Thank you Dawn for eveything you've done. We will miss you. Best of luck!

  11. Mike,

As I told you yesterday when you were so gracious as to sign autographs with the rest of the team, best of luck in all your future endeavors. You have given us more enjoyment and memories in watching you than we could ever begin to hope for, or to try and say thank you enough. Great stories will be shared with younger generations and those visiting a Sioux hockey game for the first time about Mike Prpich. Your dedication, sense of team and class act will be greatly missed but is deeply appreciated.

Best of luck and thanks for the salute after the Holy Cross game!

We will miss you, but always welcome you wherever there is green and white!
