  1. I was cheering for NDSU yesterday, I would have loved to see them beat UM. However, the postings with respect to Bison fans is more proof that I have met few Bison fans who weren't complete A-holes when it came to sports. Perhaps losing to the Gophers just reminded how often the Sioux used to beat them back in the day. D1, D2, who cares. Where's the Nickel???

SU fan. Enjoy your moral victory and dream about how you could have given Ohio State a run for their money while you are watching playoff football this fall.

    Good luck against Duluth...

  2. a conference that lost their ONLY recognizable member (Valpo) - Great! That allowed you the crack in the door to get in...CONGRATS :lol: I find in VERY INTERESTING you'd drop your pants (ie membership in the MidCon) to get into the Gateway. There are threads talking about that exact scenario on "another board"

NO ONE is choking on your "trail-dust" right now...if anything...I'd say UND is right on the same track as another school who left DII several years ago...THE DIFFERENCE? We'll go out, ON TOP, hopefully challenging for another National Championship!! If only you guys could have gone out on top :D:love:

Not sure I follow you. The Gateway is an all football conference so if we "dropped our pants" for the Gateway we would still be part of the Mid-Con. It would mean an exit from the Great West Football conference.

  3. As much as I would be amused by seeing that classless program defeated by the Sioux... again for the 11th time in 14 meetings, the fact of the matter is that the Sioux have much bigger fish to fry than NDS-who. We have the Nickel and they were the ones who made the first move to end the rivalry, so therefore I think it would be in our best interest to leave them in the past where they belong. If they play, so be it. I'm not going to lose any sleep over it one way or the other.

Leave them in the past where they belong? Who is the program choking on the trail-dust right now? Damn it feels good to be in a conference!

  4. they're just lonely!!...I mean..imagine...they're HAPPY? about getting into a conference that stretches from (apparently now ND to Louisiana...Utah to Michigan?) Check out Valpo's site for the main reasons they left...travel expenses and student/athletes being away from class...hopefully by the time we get there...su's "ACADEMIC STANDARDS" will still be up to "par" for DI....;)

Man it feels good to have the stability of a conference at our fingertips...how's that comin for you guys ? ;)

  5. Aff:

Don't deceive yourself into believing the MidCon has any degree of stability to it.

Oakland wants in the Horizon, and received strong consideration when Valpo got in

IUPUI, when it gets its new on-campus arena, will be a strong candidate for the Horizon and would be a shoe-in if Butler leaves

Western Illinois, which is in the talking stages of a new arena, want in the Mo Valley with its Gateway brethren

UMKC wants in the Mo Valley

ORU wants in the Mo Valley - article just this week on that

Centenary wants in the Southland - if Texas St goes DIA, they would be a candidate

SUU wants in the Big Sky

Everybody wants out and only the desperate want in. Not exactly a recipe for stability (or for keeping an autobid).

Try and downplay it all you want but this is a monumental day for NDSU and SDSU and no matter who you are, you've got to give it up to the athletic administration at both universities. I think it is pretty hard to say the Mid-Con is "unstable" with a guy like Douple running things and showing a dedication to making it a great home for all of its members. And I have a feeling UND will be a part of this "instability" in the near future. Good luck Sioux.

  6. Hey all, I'm not a Bison fan trying to raise controversy. I'm a student at St. Cloud State and work at our radio station. We're covering the game tonight. You can get it online at KVSC.org and then just follow the links. Just somthing to think about if you're having troubles with your internet broadcast. Can't wait for a great game tonight.

  7. sorry...UND will NEVER be your bitch!

;) since when has NDSU asked UND to be its bitch? This whole topic is so out of hand. -----NDSU went division one. A decision they made as a University. Doesn't have anything to do with UND. Sure, NDSU-UND games have been a huge part of the tradition for both schools. NDSU asked UND to continue the rivalry.....UND TURNED THEM DOWN. And understandably so. Who wants to play your rival with an un-level playing field? I am not faulting them for that. Since then, NDSU has enjoyed great success at the DI ranks considering. As a Bison fan, the level of competition especially on the football field has been tremendous. And for UND, hey they have a women's basketball team who is 32-0. Very impressive. Both universities are experiencing great success in their respective divisions. I don't understand why people can't see that. Just recognize what both schools are doing. There will always be animosity between the schools because that is what made the rivalry so great in the past. But when you start saying things like...." UND will NEVER be your bitch!"...c'mon. Bison and Sioux fans need to enjoy what is going on with their teams. Both have a lot to be excited for.

  8. The fact that NDSU wanted so badly to play UND again after going D-1AA and adding the additional scholarships just goes to show how desperate they were to find a way to get that Nickel Trophy back. It reeked of a kid who gets beat up by the playground bully and then rounds up 10 buddies to challenge the bully to a 10 on 1 fight. I suspect that if they had won the last Sioux/Bison game the Bison wouldn't have cried so much about UND not wanting to play them again.

Dude please tell me you don't beleive that. A 5 minute conversation with Gene Taylor will show you that there is nothing farther from the truth. And i'd defintly have to argue that NDSU would have more to lose from a UND-NDSU game right now. A loss to UND would be very detrimental to the Division 1 support from its fans and community. Just somthing to think about...
