  1. this thread isnt about what jersey the sioux should wear. this is aout the green/white weekend vs the gophers in december. its for the fans to wear green one night and white the other night.

my bad I forgot to put that's what I've worn to the games and they hadn't lost until last saturday. sorry, for the confusion. I will definatley come in the green friday and white saturday night.

  2. this goes against a routine that has worked for the better part of a year, black jersey first game of series green one second game. they are(were) unbeaten for the enite 2007 year in games which I attended until the saturday cc game. 16 games which included the regional.so maybe change is good.

  3. city/state born in and reside in now? Waverly, IA and Grand Forks

Did you attend UND? yes class of '96

    Favorite current player? Duncan

Favorite all-time Sioux player(s)? Duncan and Jason Blake

Favorite all-time NON Sioux player/team? Don't really have a player but I would have to say Duluth with Sandelin being there.

Are you a season ticket holder? yes, for the last 3 years.

  4. Agreed. Saturday's perfomance was sub-par. Friday night in Houghton was not. That's why saying every game we have lost thus far has been a poor performance is completely false (not talking about you dags, but what siouxpuckster alluded to earlier.)

ok, I'll somewhat agree with you onthe friday tech game. however, I don't think we dominated the first 2 periods and the 3rd we did and I will tip my hat to teslak for his performance in the third period in stopping all 14 of our shots. but through 2 periods that night we were only outshooting tech 13-10 and didn't really apply any pressure.

  5. this team had better start to pick things up and come to play every game or we will be in the same situation we have been the last three years where we basically have to go unbeaten the second half just to get home ice and fight for a playoff bert. this team has some serious problems as well. It has absolutely no consistent scoring beyond the first line, our second pp unit is horrible they basically waist half the pp going back to the other end to retieve the puck, they have no killer instinct and saturday was a prime example we just dominate a team the previous night and have a chance to sweep them and what happens they come out flat. the way this team looks right now it is no more than a .500 team because it can't sweep anybody and probably won't until aa comes to town in late january but even that is debateable being they given us some problems the last few years. upcoming schedule:

    wisconsin-lucky to get a split

umd-split we couldn't even sweep a bad duluth team last year with a better team than we have now

denver-spilit at best as they are probably the best team in the league

minnesota-split because we just don't sweep them at home

new hampshire-split just because we can't get a sweep and they have a really good goalie

scsu-split come out flying one night and flat the next

tech-split they are 3-1 in out last four games and redemtion isn't anything this team get motivated about

msu-mankato-split wierd things happen down there

aa-possibly a sweep, split or 3 points more likely

minnesota-split at best they should be playing much better than now.

denver-split we can't sweep good teams at home

bemidji-split, the beavers will get a win at sometime in this series and with our non killer instinct and lack of leadership this will be the year

    duluth-split

scsu-split-which leaves it unknown if we will even get home ice.

This team also has a learinign disability they don't learn from lessons they've recieved for example after the friday tech game they all said this is a learning experience in which we have to come out ready play every night and wow they didn',t on saturday. they said the same thing after satuyrday's loss which means they'll probably come out flat on friday night.

The offense potential on this team is overrated beyond duncan and oshie. we have no one that can step up and contribute when duncan and oshie are shut down which will probably tend to happen more often than not. in the 7 games this team has played in 4 of them they have score 3 goals or less, and 1 or none three of those times. so basically if things don't start to turnaround quickly it could be a wasted season and we'll be left asking ourselves what if?

I apologize if I offended anyone yesterday with some of my off the wall comments about this team and season. They were made out of frustration. I don't think and didn't think that this team would go through the season unbeaten. It's not the fact that they lost either, it was the way they lost that frustrated me. I have very high expectations for this team as do most of those on this message board. If they come out and play their game and lose so be it, I'll just tip my cap to the other team and move on. But that hasn't been the case yet this year in any of our losses or tie, and that is what is most frustrating.

I think it would be nice to get a number one seed and play the likes of an Air Force or Niagra in the first round versus having to go through Michigan or BC, and losses like Saturday won't help us get there.

  6. Now that is funny.

You guys I am not worried yet, the Sioux ran into a hot goaltender, it is what it is. Someone brought up Denver is good but they haven't won anything yet. Heck I wouldn't be surprised if they cool down by the end of the year. C.C. is a good team but I think the Sioux are going to be ahead of them by the end of the season. So what if UNH beat the sioux when they come the REA in December, I still bet the Wildcats are bounced out of the NCAA playoffs long before the Sioux. I can't believe we are starting the panic threat as of yet...

actually the games against nh are huge when it comes to the pairwise and seeding come tournament time.

  7. Far be it from us to question the coach on his selection, by all means Mr Owens start the other goalie if you like.

Thank God we didn't have to face Bachman twice.

I disagree I don't think bachman is all that great, he's good but not great, yes we got 18 shots on hime but never really tested throughout the night. if we would have played like we did on friday night and crashed the net more we would have gotten a few more.

    ABANDON SHIP!

Gimme a break. One year ago at this time, people were annointing Maine as the eventual NCAA champion based on their thrashing of the Sioux in Grand Forks. I'm sure you noticed that the Black Bears didn't even make the Frozen Four. The season is a marathon, not a sprint. Losing a game at home three days into November isn't the end of the world.

actually maine did make the ff and lost to mich. state. it's not a matter of losing one game in november it's the fact that we have a veteran team for the most part and not once this year have they come ready to play both nights. that's what's worrisome for a team that said it's goal was to eliminate the slow starts, which is the road they are headed for if something doesn't change and it has to start this weekend.

  10. great performance last night all the way around. now tonight we should learn alot about this team and if it is developing a killer instinct. in year's past we might have let the fott off the gas a little after a performance like last night. if we come out and play with as much intensity as last night we should win if not anything goes.

  11. Let me correct myself, those are some pretty weak non-conference teams seriously.

those aren't as weak as miami of ohio's who looks destined to be this year's notre dame. miami's nc schedule is a joke and as a result will probably get the number one seed come march and get bounced in the 1st or second round. boy I wish we could have schedlued them this year.

  12. I should mention that Russell has a career record of 2-12 against UND. His record during Hakstol's tenure is 2-4. All four of UND's victories against the Huskies under Hakstol were at Houghton.

didn't und sweep the huskies at the ralph late in hak's second year 2004-2005 because I think fabian went down in one of those games, so 2-6 sounds more like it, anyway hak has pretty muched owned the huskies in his time here.

  13. Yes it rings a bell but I said rarely. Bring me a long list of loses from our recent championships at the hands of weaker teams. Last year we won nothing.

I believe the 2000 team lost to a horrible duluth team the first game of the wcha playoffs that year. that being said tech is a good team and will give us fits if we are not ready to play.

  14. If the Sioux play like they did against Michigan State, they will get one for sure, but will struggle for the other game. If they played like they did this weekend, they will be lucky to split.

Lammy gives up his first goals this weekend.

I completely agree, they need to come out ready to play both nights. If I have one complaint with Hak it's that during his first 3+ years there have been numerous times when the team comes out flat and not ready to play, they need to remedy that quick if they are going to be the "special" team we all think they can be. If we come out flying and play our game Tech will be lucky to split, let's make them match our intensity. First goal will be huge both nights. That being said Sioux 3-1 Friday, Tech 2-1 Sat.

  15. both games will be tougher than people think, 5-4 sioux on friday perhaps in OT and after an emotionally draining on friday noght the sioux struggle for 2 periods before winning 5-3 with an empty netter at the end. bottomn line is sioux will come away with 2 huge road victories over hockey east this weekend.
