  1. You forgot Sagard calling in to ask if Hakstol was recruiting Kessel.

You also forgot that we have a lunchbox type team of hard workers that can get the job done.

And there is great parity in the WCHA, any team can win any night.

  2. The Big Ten conference would be good and bad for college hockey I think. I think it would bring a "name-brand" type recognition to college hockey. But, schools like us would be looking in from the outside and we'd be scrambling to form a conference with the weak remainders.

    BIG TEN

    Michigan

    Michigan State

    Ohio State

    Wisconsin

    Minnesota

Penn State (would be intrigued by the Big Ten name and add both men's and women's programs)

Purdue (a bigger stretch, but I think a school that could get persuaded to join, they have lots of money)

Notre Dame (could be enough incentive for all athletic programs to join the Big Ten)

So, that's an 8-time conference with PSU and Purdue....6 without. 8 is a perfect number I think.

    NEW WCHA

    North Dakota

    St. Cloud

    Michigan Tech

    Duluth

    Denver

    Colorado College

    Anchorage

    Bemidji State

    NEW CCHA

    Miami

    Bowling Green

    Ferris State

    Alaska

    Northern Michigan

    Lake Superior

    Western Michigan

    Air Force

    NEW CHA

    Niagara

    Huntsville

    Mankato

    Robert Morris

    Nebraska-Omaha

    HOCKEY EAST (unchanged)

    Boston College

    Boston U.

    Maine

    Northeastern

    UMass

    UNH

    UMass-Lowell

    Vermont

    Providence

    Merrimack

    NEW ATLANTIC HOCKEY

    Sacred Heart

    RIT

    Mercyhurst

    Bentley

    Army

    Canisius

    Holy Cross

    AI

    UCONN

    Syracuse (is joining college hockey)

Just tinkered everything. Obviously schools would be in conferences where they didn't want, and the Big Ten would be the dominant conference, but if you want 6 remotely balanced conferences, how else could you do it? And for all you people out there, I added BSU into the now much weaker WCHA. CCHA is a really weak conference now.

Not that I really care about them, but what about MSU Mankato? Where do they fit in?

  3. This is what I'm really getting tired of hearing, and I think it has a negative impact on the team. Hak says it all the time and now the players all say it in their interviews. "There is a lot of parity in the league, it's really hard to get a sweep in the WCHA." When the players hear this over and over and start repeating it themselves they WILL NOT sweep.

When they win on a Friday and know that there is so much parity in the league that there is no hope for Sat. On the flip side, if they lose on a Friday they know that there is so much parity that they have to win on Saturday.

These guys need to stop seeing other teams as equal to them, and start seeing themselves as an unbeatable team.

  4. Hey Fetch, do you still have puppies? My father in law lost his lab mix two months ago. I know that he has been looking for a new pup. I will contact him and find out if he is interested.

  5. According to my book "75 years of Fighting Sioux Hockey History" there has never been a goalie by the name of Donald Rood, or any variation of that name.

There has never been a defenseman or forward named Donald Rood either.

Of course this is just from one source and I would have to do more research before I gave a definitive no.

  6. I have 2:

    1) For home games I HAVE to eat two hotdogs and have a bottled coke during warmups, If I deviate from this in any way the Sioux lose.....So when people ask about my weight gain, it's because I'm taking one for the team.

    2) Everytime the Sioux score I do a triple windmill punch screaming out goal at the end of each punch. This is for home games, away games, and taped games (unless I have already seen the game). I kinda stole this from T.J. Oshie except he usually only does a single windmill punch.
