  1. So who has been run out? Roger Thomas? Rob? DISioux?

Seems to me that Hak, Lennon, and Roebuck all know a little about Fighting Sioux tradition. Perhaps even Jeff Bowen at the UND Foundation, who presumably was Rob's backup, would know a little about it too. :D

Can understand how changes, especially from outsiders, can be unsettling, but it all can be for good.

Hey as a current Junior and di-hard Sioux fan for as long as I can remember, my brother going to school here, and my father playing football and a current Sioux booster and season ticket holder for FB and Men's Hockey, I must say that Col. Tom Bunning is doing a fine job of carrying on the tradition. He wants to keep everything the same, and is open to work with the students about the current cheering standards...which still need to be improved for the better of the students, and I mean standing for the entire game if they please and they should just move the student section to sections I think it is starting in 111 and then over to like 113 or 114. whereever behind the net is.

  2. Paul Weisgarber will be suiting up tommorow wearing the number 26. He plays on a line with Kai Kantola and Brandon Richardson. Any interesting line, Kai is thought of by many to be the best player on the team (maybe the leauge) and Richardson seldom sees significant ice time. Richardson was put on this line to hit, hit, and hit. Kai to take some pressure off of Paul, and Paul to do his thing. Should be fun to watch. I wonder if Weisgarber's friend who also practices but will not play with the Jets this season finds the humor in that Paul took his old high school number. Fun stuff.

    Ha, ya,

I look forward to traveling with my good friend Jace Foss (Moorhead 3 time state tourny appearances) and I attending various Junior and College hockey games to watch some of the old teammates. I say we ask for autographs now! Otu of the group of talented athletes that have been discussed the most on here, who will have the best chance of winning Hoby Baker?

Good Luck to all in the post high school careers, and stay healthy.

  3. Congratulations to Fargo South on bringing home their third State Championship last night. A well played game that could have easily gone the other way. Also a special congradulations to Paul Weisgarber on winning Mr. Hockey. Hopefully he will have a good rest of the season with the FM Jets. A special congratulations to Sean Deichart on winning the State Title in just a few weeks after the death of his father. I give all the props to Fargo South, even though I feel they did not play their best game. Neither team played their best game, but credit Fargo South for having just enough to come out on top. Hopefully next year will be just as exciting as this year was.

This year was a lot better tourny than last year. Especially the championship game with more quality scoring chances.

  4. Well, congrats to Fargo South on their victory in another close game.

So, now, the challenge is out!

riders06 and crew: Whatcha gonna do? Gonna skip the site for a while? Gonna accuse South of doing something dirty/classless/cheating to win? Or are you going to take the high road and simply say that "Fargo South ended up on top. Congrats to the Fargo South Bruins on a great game and a great season."?

    -------------------------

I can't think of a better top three:

    1. Fargo South

    2. Grand Forks Red River

    3. Grand Forks Central

And the best honorable mention: Grafton/Park River.

Gosh I wish the Bruins hockey team was worth a crap while I was at South. :D (Maybe they were, but I guess I didn't notice) In case you are wondering, I was at South from 1991 to 1995

Hey they got wat they deserved (south) night job

  5. I agree with you. I was at the game, had a perfect view of Kringstad of GPR and it was clear that the opposing RR guy was in the crease. Talked to a few game officials and they agreed. Even Coach Haugland argued it. Oh well, BY THE WAY...Red River students need to control theirselves. They are way too offensive. I saw that last night as they were screaming at Kringstad. Please, game administration, do something!

I would like to comment on the Red River fans, but I will after tonight's game. I heard them calling the officials old, but that was about it. I thought it was rather funny. I didn;t hear them rip on the refs' weight for the first time as long as I can remember. That is what I heard anyway. I have heard worse since I have been going to the state and EDC tournaments since 1993. As far as the call on Weisgarber, they had to call it a 5 minute for the injury. I have no further comment on the call however...

Red River is going to come out gunning tonight. I hope South will as well.

Good luck to both, keep it clean, but go South!

  6. Anyone know weather conditions will I make it to Grand Forks from Fargo today?

Sounds like South made it up (parents and players) safetly while driving about 65 mph.

P.S. Sorry for my earlier post, that was inappropriate and goes against my earlier comment this week on character. I was trying to joke around and did not mean to offend anyone.

  7. On a seperate note, here are my Day 1 Awards:

Best Dressed: Thomas Campbell (Grafton) Looked good in the suit

Best Streak Kept Alive: Red River, 13 straight years making the State Semifinals.

Most Surprising: Devils Lake winning 1-0 after 1 period

Best Piercing: Justin Connell of Bismarck, 2 in the ears, 1 in the tounge (the tounge stud won it for him)

Best Joke, with Apologies to Wilbur: "You know it's a Thursday at the State Tournament when Minot loses"

Ugliest Hair: Zack Herrmann (#12 Bismarck)

Most Outlandish Celebration: Tony Kringstad going over to the Grafton students section and banging on the glass with his stick, after Grafton scored to make it 5-1.

Best Performance: Thomas Campbell 1 goal, 3 assists

Worst Hair Style (as a Team): Bismarck for the "Skullets"

Those are the awards for today, congrats to everyone who took them home!

Hey "BrokeBack tron3050" you should spend more time watching the sport and less time checking out the guys. I didn't know we ahd desperate rink fans in the audiance. Men's swimming is coming up, why not go check that out instead of a real man's sport.

  8. May I say what poor sportsmanship Minot has. Two of their players were kicked out of the game after Central scored an empty netter and they broke their sticks. Andy Dittus was one of these players who broke his stick over the crossbar and the other player broke his stick over the bench. Congrats to Central on their win after a hard fought battle.

They were not "kickek out" they were given 2- unsportsmanship misconducts. 3-5 powerplay for Central

  9. I don't think any one on here is at liberty to say how much pain he was or was not in. He was taken to the emergency room where they had him wear some sort of soft cast until the EDC tournement. I think maybe we could discuss the issue of his toughness had this been Jr's and Wurden confronted him like a man and asked him to drop his gloves.

Just a reminder of the online updated official score sheet website for this weekend. Someone asked me earlier if South wins, when will they play, accoridng to that they will play at 630.

  10. It doesnt matter how bad your team played, as the head coach you are an ambassador for your team to the press and it sends a pretty bad message when he is too immature to comment on the game. It's that kind of thing that probably influences why the Forum covers Moorhead hockey more than FSH. If a proffesional coach ditches a post-game press confrence they are hit with big fines, if you cant handle the heat, than get out of the kitchen.

It is easy to coach a good team. Deano needs to learn some professionalism for this upcoming weekend. Suprised that his tenure as administrator and having to work for a masters degree didn't establish some of those building steps for this season. Many of the players will carry a somewhat disrespectful attitude with them to the next level of hockey or next line of work/school. There is competitiveness, and flat out being a disrespectful player on the ice. SOuth is not the only team that is disrespectful. Skaters that read this, GROW UP and get some character. Impressions are lasting. This weekend the televised games will be viewed by the entire state, do you really wanna look like a jackass to the North Dakota viewers?

Good luck and have fun guys!

  11. Very interesting that you pointed this out - Hey everyone- go back and reread junior24's original post. He spelled the name "Weisgarber". Stars9 then went and changed it to "Wisegarbage". Pretty classy, Stars.

I bet Stars was an amazing hockey player himself! To point out faults in amazing athletes. Stars, I do not know who coached you or what program you came from, but I have three words for you; Class, Character and integrity. You hide behind a private screen name on here to post negative aspects about players that are probably three times the player you ever were/are. Have respect for Campbells, Weisgarber, Mulhulka, Galt, Klenow (just to name a few from the East) What good does it do for you to say things like that. Not only is it tasteless, but now you have totally ruined whatever reputation you had on here. Nice job...

  12. great game tonight at Purpur! Well played by both teams. I expect a rematch next week at State. The only blemish on the whole night was the Red River student section booing the award to the Senior athlete of the year award. Classless....

That was horrible. For them to think that he did not deserve that. Of course, somehow they will still get the spirit award or sportsmanship award next week. Not that is it a big deal. but jsut stating my point

  13. They go a 15 minute overtime period, and then follow that with an 8 minute overtime period. They resurface the ice after the 8 minute overtime and the teams get a 3 minute(?) break in between the 2 overtime periods.

No it is an 8 minute overtime period after a 3 minute wait. When that is completed they resurface for either a 15 or 17 minute period.

  14. You bring up good points, Grafton does seem to struggle when it comes to tournament time. You left out their opening round lost to a 6th seeded West Fargo in 2003. Maybe West Fargo will catch an exhausted Grafton team on Saturday. The Campbell's, Miller, and Hills were all logging a ton of ice time in those overtime sessions.

Peterson for Grafton has to be careful next game. He ahd four penalties last night. 5 would have left him out for the next game.

  15. I fail to see the logic in how GPR would rather have to go through West Fargo in the loser-out game. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't West Fargo a better team than Central this season?

Ok so then Grafton has been throwing a few games. Yet again I say that they are failing to impress me. North is well coached, and has a great set of experianced leaders that are trying to make the best for their team. I think they will impress upon us how much hardowrk pays off.

  16. I was at the North/Grafton game... I thought that it was a great game! (however I was cheering for North). I thought it seemed pretty fair both ways... although there were times that I was saying the ref needed to put his whistle away. Some impressive goaltending tonight... good luck to both teams in the rest of the tournament

I hope you are not refering to the call Spivey made the first minute of the first overtime against North. That guy totally slashed the heck out of the Grafton guy. IT was quite obvious. And north did get a way with some calls infront of the net. I think it was called evenly as well though. And i was cheering for North as well.

  17. Hey, here is the link to the ND Boys' state tournament. I talked with the guys running this program. It was updated last year after every period on the web from the Ralph. This year they are thinking about updating after every goal. For you guys that can't make it, this would be a good way to check stats online while watching the game or whatever. I like this because it is the official scoresheet of the tournament the PA uses and KVLY 11.

Good luck players that are reading this.
