  1. We just haven't been able to find an answer for that. D break downs have really killed us. There just hasn't been much improvement there and overall in the last few years the d had been sub par. The only thing different this year is the tender is a little more solid able to bail them out. I hope they find it cause this time of the year one sloppy goal sends you home.

Its been an interesting year highs and lows. High light Omaha outdoor game. Joining in with the mob in the stands cheering the team as they walked through the tunnel. Priceless.

  2. I'm a hard-core fan that is one of the worst losers you'll ever find. I expect UND to win every game. I put way way way too much emotion in college hockey, and my wife won't talk to me when I watch games.

I've only missed the final five once in the last 11 years. In the middle of gopher fans for the Potulny game winner, and the Wheeler game winner. What gets me is when supposed fans of my favorite team CONSTANTLY rag on them. I question coaching decisions, I question certain guys ability to play for them. But in the end, I'll back them.

A poster said it best a few days ago....If this team is so disappointing to some, why follow them? I want to throw the TV out the window, and throw somebody under the bus.....But I don't know if a true fan would constantly do that. Maybe I'm wrong....

  3. Hak is still a great coach! One who alot of teams in our league would be happy to have! This whole fire Hak thread is absurd! Think back to the prior coaches who did not make it to the ncaas, Yeah the loss to Yale stings alot but remember how banged up the guys are, not how the coach coached against a good not great team almost on home ice with all thier fans!!!

Totally agree - some people are never satisfied - Lets be realistic. Hak worked his magic again this year -which I was wondering if it was gonna show up - and got us to the playoffs - the rest is up to the players - and the hockey gods to smile on us a little - which just didn't happen against Yale. Sure it sucks to be done with what we had hoped more games to play - this fire hak thread should be dumped.

  4. I think the sioux didn't go at full speed last night and were conserving energy for obvious reasons. I think tonight we'll see a full balls to the wall team. also is it just me or does Blood break at least one stick a game, holy crap is he going through sticks?

I was thinking the same thing. Last weekend he burned through a couple and then last night - maybe he needs to open a new carton. Bad batch? Hopefully it doesn't cost us one.

  5. If they let em play, they let em play. If they wanna call em, they should call em. I counted two definite tripping calls against the goofs right before the bench foul against the sioux. And the sioux player was not even involved in play.

Watch the tape again and count how many were missed on the sioux - during that time frame.

  6. The gophers did step it up compared to last night - but the Dahlstrom difference is the crappy refs. When it was said that Macloed wanted to goophs in the five - these blind zebras are trying there best. Missed calls on the sioux and timely calls for the goophs. What a bunch of crap. I am not into this conspiracy stuff. It is absolutely horse crap. The more I talk about this it just torques me off.

We did play a lot in our own end on the 3rd and we out shot the crap out of them the whole game. i'm not saying the sioux are angels and could have had a couple too - but the obvious lopsided calls in the 3rd - cmon. Games decided by bad officiating is just sick. Over and over - these guys need to go.

  7. Monkey, He flipped off a ref on TV. I don't think that is representing the school very well, do you?

That being said, who is being punished here? I think he still get's paid, so you are not really hurting him financially. (no, I don't think you need to either. I am guessing he is plenty embarrassed already) So you are really only hurting the kids on the team.

As a Gopher fan, I think the apology is enough. Maybe fine him and give it to charity or do 20 hrs of community service stuff. 2 games is pretty stiff and uncalled for, IMHO.

Doug came out of his ordeal pretty sweet compared to Hak's two games.

As quoted in the GF Herald -

League commissioner Bruce McLeod said he supports the school's decision. The WCHA publicly reprimanded Hakstol for the incident and McLeod said there will be no further penalties from the league.

"We're satisfied with the action taken by UND, and that's the end of it," said McLeod, who suspended former Minnesota coach Doug Woog one game for giving the same gesture during the 1996 WCHA Final Five.

  8. While watching the bench discussion, I scratched my head thinking "did that just happen?" Using the magic of TiVo, I went back and was able to freeze on a crystal clear image of Hak's bird. Fantastic! I fell on the floor laughing. It is just part of a terrific evening of hostility and abusiveness served up by our Fighting Sioux. Prpich would have loved this game.

Got news for the "class police" out there. Hockey's a rough sport. There's plenty of bad language and nasty behavior by all involved. I think I'm more impressed with Hak after this. They guy finally showed some fire, came unglued, and now feels bad about it. That's emotion. That's heart. He's human.

We all get pissed, launch off, and then regret it later. Not many, however, have a camera there while it happens.

This post pretty much sums it up for me. I was at the game listening to the entire goof student section cheer their chant "F$#K you Adam" .

Then they put posts on thier board how classless UND is and they have to sheild their 4 and 7 year old from all the f bombs UND throws out. Whatever.

It was intense and the emotions were high.

Its nice to see Hak have some emotion... he is human - he's making it right - Next.

  9. I have a hillarious video clip of the grand valley mascot if anyone wants it send a message with email add. i think you know what I'm talking about - it involves a certain goal post. How bout that. Wow. Ha. Wonder if he got a butt chewing the next day.

  10. I am looking for tickets to SCSU game. Let, me know if anyone has anything avialable for either night.

Called the SCSU ticket office (1-877-SCSUTIX ) last week for tix. sec 208 row 3. Got 2 more yesterday in 209 row 10. $25 ea. with a $5 dollar handeling fee.

    Check into it.

  11. We're at the Radisson City Center.

Now, if I only had tickets......

My brother and I go every year. Last year we brought a friend and he was able to get tickets easily to every game. He didn't pay any more than if he would have gotten them in advance. Some were actually cheaper.

  12. This is all true, but lets be the better fans in the WCHA and show the other teams we are always behind our team no matter what their record is or how bad we play. We dont need to make any excuses for our losses.

I agree - Good posts. Lets see what happens in Jan on.

I have my tickets for the final 5. I still pray to the hockey gods our team will show.

  13. Precisely. I don't think our D or our goaltender is playing especially poorly right now. We are usually getting beaten on deflections. We lack offense and we especially lack confidence. We aren't playing like we know we can overcome our opponents. We're continually pressing and holding our sticks too tight.

I have to say you have a valid point. The D just hasn't been there. You don't allow guys to sit in front of the net untouched then when the puck is in front allow then to continue to chop until the puck rolls in. The Mich Tech players should have been getting a good view of the roof of the Ralph. Other than Bina who I think has good defense mentality. You can see it. The others just need to watch him and learn.

You really can't just say it's one thing. This team has a lot of ... if's - If our D could defend in our end better and protect the goalie and drop guys with the puck once they hit the blue line get a little physical in front of the net, if the forwards wouldn't bunch up and spread out, we would create more oppertunity. We're making it far to easy to cover two guys, sometimes three with one defender. If someone would step up and be a sniper, or at least get more shots off in the zone - you can't stick handle it into the back of the net - fancy's doesn't always work, fire low on net for rebounds.

Hockey 101 we got to get back to it - talent, talent. That's what you hear lets get the skills honed.

If more of these things start to happen I believe it would be wild fire - One would feed off the other. The ODG (offense, defense, goaltending) would be clicken. I believe its in there.
