  1. Since moving to CA, I have been out of the hockey loop! But, I just found out that Stockton is an hour away from me and they have an ECHL team! Can someone do some research for me (since I have to actually work today) about any former Sioux players in the ECHL and which teams they play for? I'd greatly appreciate it! :)

We had Kaip down here in Bakersfield, but I was told he has returned home after dealing with a lengthy injury and has decided to retire. Can't confirm it but that is the rumor.

  2. Your saying that the NA's on the SRN had thier civil rights denied because of this issue? Thats an insult to all NA's! NA's have been the victims of horrible, atrocious civil rights abuses since 1492 and you dare to put this in that category? Shame on you. You need to take a step back and reevaluate this whole issue.

Exactly how many civil rights abuses have you been party to since 1492?

Nice sig line by the way. The blacks enslaved their own people by selling rival tribes to slave traders and the indians helped the white man hunt down and kill their own people, kinda ironic, doncha think?

  3. Cornell should have beaten Wisconsin in the NCAA's that season, they just couldn't get any Pokulok.

Pokulok has done pretty well here in Bakersfield this season, earning himself a call up to the A. Hopefully he has put those concussions behind him.

  4. Thought I would update this since I just got back to California. I didn't get to go on the tour of the Ralph, I guess they don't offer it on game days. Had a chance to go Monday for a personal tour but that didn't work out either. We sat up in 306, best part was the student section, holy crap they are entertaining! Met some cool folks and got to see an amazing arena, you guys are definitely spoiled. Maybe next time I will meet some of you and get some shinny in while I am up there. Games were a bit disappointing, but I had a smile on my face the whole weekend. How can you not in that arena? Only place I got to eat at was Al's and Grizzly's, not my choice, I wasn't driving. Food was decent, nothing to write home about. Had to settle for a grinder from Al's, next time I am going to go to the Pepper.

  6. In regards to the tour of the Ralph, my daughter and I went during the St. Cloud weekend. They no longer go into the locker rooms, training rooms, and what not due to someone four or five years ago stealing a solid gold Sioux head from the locker room area. Tour was still cool just because your were in the Ralph (in my opinion), but probably was very cool when they still went into the locker rooms.

There's always one. Might still go just to get some good pics. Thanks for the info.

  7. Depends on what you are looking for...restaurants or bars?

    Restaurants:

    Whitey's

    BWW

    Texas Roadhouse

    Blue Moose

    Bars:

    Gillys

    Joe Blacks

    O'Reilly's

I am forgetting some, but others can fill in. Most bars downtown have buses to the games, I believe as well as several restaurants.

Where are you sitting, if I may ask and that would determine good food around you.

Not sure where we are sitting, they are my uncles season tickets so I will have to ask him where they are located. Thanks for the great suggestions, keep em coming.

  8. Like the title says, I will be making my first trip to the Ralph at the end of January to see the Denver series. I was wondering if there is anything you folks would recommend I see or do while I'm in town. Any pre game or post game favorites? Thanks in advance.

  9. IIRC Moore was not a fighter though, so you just cant go and whack someone because they won't fight. Ask Marty McSorrely (sp). So Bertuzzi broke the code.

I assume your referring to the enforcers code. I am not real familiar with Moore so I couldn't say whether he was a fighter, or enforcer if you will, or not. But then again, neither was Bertuzzi. Its not a good idea to jump someone regardless, like I said, I don't condone what he did, but I can understand what made him do it. From what I understand, Moore was more of a rat, like an Avery type, he got under guys skin. In my opinion, if your going to play that kind of game, you should be prepared to defend yourself for your actions, not run from a fight. Regardless, what Todd did was regrettable, he paid the price. Yet will forever be remembered for that incident rather than his hockey skills.

  10. I think the thing that made the Bertuzzi thing bad that he just went and attacked him. Bertuzzi didn't give Moore a chance to even sqare up and fight.

Kind of like the incident down in Mankato last season.

Um, you might want to watch that game again Goon. Bertuzzi gave Moore plenty of chances. Moore knew he was going to have to answer for that hit on Naslund and chose to avoid it all night, finally Bertuzzi got fed up and attacked him. Not condoning what Bertuzzi did, but had Moore just fought him and got it over with, none of this would even be an issue now. The thing that people seem to leave out every time this topic is brought up, is his team mates piling on top of him and Bertuzzi is what broke his neck, not the punch or the fall. I've met Todd, heck of a nice guy, its too bad this incident will forever tarnish his hockey career.

    Back on topic....

  11. A 6'7" 250lb defensman that was drafted quite high is asked to switch to forward within his first few games as a pro? This doesn't sound good at all. I hope it works but he was already way to slow to play defense, I don't see how this will make things any better. If the Caps are looking for a guy that is never afraid to throw down (and actually would win some fights) they should sign Rylan Kaip. That guy had heart.

Lets hope he can skate faster forward then backwards. Dustin Byfuglien made the transition reasonably well.

  12. what a joke...shouldnt Finley be concentrating on making the NHL. This is a pretty pathetic story and one that cannot be defended.

Seriously? These are two guys in there early twenties being stupid, big deal. I know I did a lot worse than that when I was their age. Don't see what the big deal is?

  13. sorry to hear fabian is done. best luck to him doing the academy

and berry running it as well, very nice!

That is unfortunate. Got to meet Eric this season and had a nice long talk with him. Really nice kid, hope it works out for him.
