As the season progresses and gets closer to postseason, one thing that can change the outlook is injuries. Since The Forum only prints out daily injury reports for Moorhead, does any team have a major injury that might change things. I heard that Doeden from South got hurt and is out for awhile, might miss red river game.
When did this happen?
-
It is now 5-4 with 3 minutes to go......
Game over at 5-4 South. Great play on both sides.
-
Moorhead/South should be a great game.. Wish I could see it. Anyone know if it will be on the radio?
-
Where did you hear that FS and Moorhead tied 4-4.

Just some facts :
Minnesota polulation - 4,919,479 (Dec, 2000)
North Dakota population - 642,200 (Dec, 2000)
Minnesota - 72 Class AA H.S. hockey teams, 85 Class A teams (157 total)
North Dakota - 18 H.S. hockey teams
Minnesota is approximately 8 times larger than North Dakota in population. But 10 times better is hockey?
I think not. Do both states had good and bad hockey teams? Yes.
MNHockey9 .... you said East Grand Forks is a terrible hockey team? How did they tie Warroad last week then? I see Warroad is ranked # 10 out of 85 Class A Minnesota hockey teams. Hmmm.
I was just about to post the the exact stats above.. MNHockey9, do you think there might be a reason Minnesota puts up more numbers in the Elite League?
You have hereby established yourself as an immature siouxsports user, therefore all yours posts from here-on-out will be disregarded and/or considered totally irrelevant.... thank you

Red River wins by six, in a game of total domination. North will have a very hard time against the physical players of the riders.
I would have to agree. I think RR will be to physical for Fargo North to handle. Red River's depth will run North down really quick.

if only you knew
Well... if I had to guess I would say you landed one point or less being as Shanley only scored one.

West Fargo-2 Fargo Shanley-1
I was lucky enough to be able to catch most of this game tonight. Neither team looked all that polished, but they were both hungry for the 4 points (correct me if I'm wrong). Both teams played each other tough and felt each other out for the 1st. WF notched a goal on the powerplay with a booming shot from #24 Jeff Vance, let me tell you this kid loves letting that rocket go. Mark Harrie answered later on a quick snap shot which might have caught the WF tender off guard, he juggled it. The 2nd period one line really stood out for the Packers Olson, Miller, and Crist all juniors had a heck of a period. They buzzed the Deacons on most of their shifts. Tyler Swanson also continued to impress by demoralizing a poor Deacon skater trying to come across the middle. The third period was very intense. The WF goalie about had a costly turn over, he tried playing the puck behind the net, next thing you know Shanley has the puck out front with no goalie and clanged one. The goalie also made a clutch save on a Shanley penalty shot. The last minute told me a lot about WF, didn't get the names but WF's 11, 18, and i wanna say 19 finished the game off beautifully and killed penalties well all night . That line is who you will see playing the Campbells from Grafton and Weisgarber's line from South.
All around good hockey game very fortunate to be able to watch!
How many points did you have?

I know noone really cares about the west from what ive read so far but is anyone else surprised that Williston isnt doing better? I mean i thought they were supposed to have a good line and a half and a couple good defensmen. And for the west thats saying alot. They were also ranked high early on.
To be honest... I've never heard anything about Williston having any talent, however, I have not seen them play for myself. Evidence tells me that they are not a very good team though.
I suppose the reason "West talk" gets shut down so much is because, what is good out west is USUALLY half decent out east. So any time someone mentions a "couple of good defensemen" or a "good line" from the west, that team goes and plays a team from the east and gets beat and thats the end of it. Results at state last year didn't help anything for the West.
I have nephews that play youth hockey in Minot so I don't want to totally knock the West, but it is a fact that the East dominates the state and the West usually suffers. :/

after attending the grafton shanley game friday, im sure that grafton will be one of the top two teams in the state
new to the boards i take it? anyway, this has been established long ago...
south is a very good team this year thats for sure! but they do have one of the biggest traitors in the state in trevor anderson he went from shanley to west fargo then to south what is it going to be next year north or moorhead then he will be at all the fargo metro teamsIs there more to this? I guess I failed to see the purpose of this post... Please take no offense, I just want to understand what you meant..

I'm not sure what to think of the Wahp/FS game... 26-0 does seem a bit excessive, but then i remember that Fargo South (along with Central, RR, and Grafton) plays this team once a season while others are able to rack up stats on these games twice... but still, I'm not sure that justifies 26-0. : / consider me undecided.

apology acceptedthis is long overdue by me so i apologize for being tardy, but the people on here that say last years rr victory over north to get into state was by a refs doing is absurd. point well taken that a ref can be in a bad position during a game and make the wrong call, as referred to by nd pride in his game situations. but, none of the goals were by that chance happening. both teams had equal opportunities on power plays. if all of the people out there still refuse this fact just because your team cannot set up their own dynasty, such as the gf schools, then realize that a goal that should have been counted for rr was WAVED OFF by none other than a gf ref. chew on that for awhile. also i would like to touch up on some comments made about SID THE KID earlier. granted, he is a very talented hockey player. but i would like those who commented on this to get back to me on how they think he is so great because if you follow nhl hockey, you will know that he should never even get close to touching the calder trophy. he shouldnt even look at it. he is on a veteran line with either palffy or recchi and yet is still not leader in points, as he is currently behind ovechkin. ovechkin, on the other hand is his own line and has the same or a few more points (last update). both are on lackluster teams which can describe the negative +- but crosby has -11 and they have a better record . Wheres the defense??? also they should quit interviewing him when other people score and he doesnt. i know this is all about high school hockey, so ill get off my pedestal. please respond back and i have don cherry on my side as he doesnt like him either so it better be good. dion phaneuf is better as well. i also heard that mihulka is currently suing NBC, claiming Law and Order are trademarked names for his left and right fists. any truth to this?? -
Which goaltenders is Red River carrying with them this year?
Eli Rosendahl (sp?)

Was going to bring my son up to watch the FS/GPR game but we got a late start and decided against it...
I was getting updates from my brother after each period though and from it sounded like, the fans were treated to some great highschool hockey...
I'm getting the sense that the East is panning out like its RedRiver, Fargo South, Grafton, and then everyone else a ways behind.. Anyone get the same feeling?
-
Grafton-9 Jamestown-1
Red River-6 West Fargo-2
Central-5 Jamestown-2
Shanley-8 BW-0
All fairly close to my predictions, however, the Shanley vs Whap rivalry has been on-going for some time now! Never know with those two teams playing each other...

The book of great West Fargo victories is about as thick as the book "Italian victories of World War II"
good stuff...
btw, anyone going to any games this weekend? any predictions?

Crosby, very good question, i apologize for not allaborating. I based my opinions through what i heard from people in Bismarck, and some of the comments coming out of the people in Grand Forks. I overstated when i said that makes him a great coach. I should have just said a quality one from what i have heard. No basis or fact on that just opinions from others. Junior as far as their two DI players who are coaches they would be Nick Fuher who we all know starred here at UND, and Chad Dahlen who played for Lake Superior State. The final score of the game tonight was 5 - 0 for East Grand. Very well played game for EGF. and a very poorly played one for GFC.
I agree... GFC did play quite poorly.

Since im on...
My current rankings:
1. Fargo South
2. Red River
3. Grafton
4. West Fargo
5. Fargo North
6. Central
7. Shanley
8. Minot
As I said before, I think West Fargo will manage to pull together a decent team regardless of a pretty weak coaching staff. Fargo North really has potential that I think they have yet to show. I think Jay Erickson is a good coach for their program and hopefully they can also pull together a decent team come playoff time. I still believe Central is a better team than Shanley and I'm sure most would agree there..
also note: as ND Pride has mentioned its very early to tell. But this is where we're at I think...
-
1. South/Grafton
3. Red River
4. West Fargo
5. North
6. Minot
7. Central
8. Williston
Top seed can't be decided till they play their make up game. That should be an amazing high school hockey game and i think it will come down to who takes more penalties because both teams should have deadly powerplays with all the firepower they have.
Thats a flat out joke, WF as a 4? I think you've gone mad from all your posting. Rethink your rankings until you have something intelligent to post.

Do any of you think that Galbreath or LaDouceur will make it big time?
Define "big time"..

Edit: also, about the RR/South game.. both teams showed great depth!
