  1. I agree with a lot of what you said. It's pretty accurate, I think Lee is a decent player but is he worthy of a number one pick, good question. I know that there are some fans in the stands that would be happy if the Sens picked him up next year. I am not going to complain either. Lee is still a good player though.

I have heard the same scuttlebutt around town about Hak before (Grand Forks) then to top it all off there were some people that were upset that Hak didn't pick Johnson for the assistant job, So Hak is damned if he does and damned if he doesn't. He is never really going to win, half the crowd is going to question him because he followed Dean Blais. A coaching legend. I am also sick of his post game comments, I want him to be upset, last year he called out some players publically.

There is one major differance between last yaer and this year, and it is not on defense, forward or Goaltending. We let the wrong coach leave for greener pastures. Boomer is the missing link as to this teams struggles.

  2. Sending the kid for the first time this summer. Does anyone have one going? Anyone had a kid attend in the past? Stories?

    I'm getting a little veclempt.....discuss amongst yourselves.

I am sending my son for the July 9th thru the 15th session. We sent him to the camp last year as a 9 year old. This was his first camp away from home. He stayed in the dorms and had a blast. He met kids from all over the state as well as kids from out of state. My son loved meeting the Sioux players, and now watches every game, knows all the players stats, nicknames, and who drafted them. The first night was a little tough but he settled in and had a great time. If he is staying at the camp in the dorms, I suggest a cooler with lots of drinks, a big fan , because the dorms get hot, and maybe a visit midweek so he doesn't get homesick. The on ice and off ice programs were very good, and the players and coaches treated the kids great. Matt Greene had the entire 9 year old group convinced that the scar from his shoulder surgery was really from a shark bite he had gotten that spring when he was in Florida. Funny stuff!! His story was so good that my son still argues with me about how he got the scar.

  3. Huskies will have dead legs tomorrow. The Sioux just need to get a couple goals on Bobby and they'll be good.

SCSU has to win tomorrow to make the NC$$'s

    So , your saying theres a chance?

  4. May I say what poor sportsmanship Minot has. Two of their players were kicked out of the game after Central scored an empty netter and they broke their sticks. Andy Dittus was one of these players who broke his stick over the crossbar and the other player broke his stick over the bench. Congrats to Central on their win after a hard fought battle.

May I say if you post this same pile of BS on one more thread may you become the latest troll to join all the other lame newbies who would rather flame then ad info for those of us who cannot attend the tourney.

if I MAY say so myself , let this thread die!

  5. I believe the #1 Western school plays the noon game because that game commonly has the lowest attendance number, and they would rather lose money off a Minot-(Insert eastern 4 seed here) game than risk losing some gate for the best eastern team which usually comes from the city of Grand Forks (the host city). I'm not saying thats the exact reason why and if it is it's completely wrong but it may be why.

If revenue was the answer, than the past two tournaments Minot Vs. GF central would have been the evening game to compliment the RR game . You will have to dig deeper than that. Remember their is a west team in every game of the opening round.

  6. Thursday, Feb. 23rd: [Ralph Engelstad Arena -Grand Forks, ND]

    #1W-Minot vs #4E-G.F. Central 12:00 pm

    #2E-Fargo South vs #3W-Devils Lake 2:30 pm

    #2W-Williston vs #3E-Grafton/P.R. 6:00 pm

#1E-G.F. Red River vs #4W-Bismarck High 8:30 pm

Radio: KNOX(GF games) and WDAY(all of them)

Without trying to start a east vs. west flamefest on here , can anyone logically

explain why the number one seed in the west has had to play the 12:00 game 4

of the last 5 years. I hope we can call this a coincidence, otherwise the organizers

of this state tourney need to jacked up. Please don't tell me there is no differance

in what time you play, because there is! I don't need to rehash the whole sleeping

in your own bed, it;s been beat to death. But if there is a logical explanation I would

    love to here it.

  7. Wilbur, were you at the game ? Listened to the Minot announcers  What happened at the end of the game. Announcers said refs blew a offsides call on a Minot scoring opportunity, than followed that with a weak unsportsmanlike call for shooting the puck after the whistle? I can't believe a ref would make that call in a tie hockey game. Burchardt started the back up goalie to put a torch under his teams ars and his starting goalie. Bown gave up 4 goals in Hazen on something like 14 shots. Just letting the boys know , no one is safe.

  8. South is going to be split into two districts in about 5 years.  Plus many southside kids are going into Shanley's program.  I see South's talent pool being diluted in the next couple of years.  Although I don't think they will ever regress to where they were before the mid 90's.  Fargo North is in serious trouble.  This years senior class is it down to pee-wees.  Every other north-side team is average at best.  I see a coaching change (a very long overdue one) next season.

Fargo parents are slowly killing hockey with all of the different teams.  The Flyers appear to have their act together to a point, but this is likely do to the huge numbers they have.

With WF growing they are poised to start a very good program.  All they need is some organization and a good HS coach who gets involved with the youth program.  Shanley appears to be doing this already.

The Central-Minot score is suprising - it appears Wilbur made a good prediction.

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

First of all, Congratulations to GF central on an outstanding game against Minot,

That said, You have to question this coaching staff. Not only do they have the ability to waste talent and chase talent to junior hockey, but they allow 16 and 17 year old kids to play the most undisciplined , embarrassing hockey year after year. I can not describe how dissappointing our program is right now. I am not in any way discounting the talent on GF, thaey deserve all the credit in the world, they had a game plan , they implimented it , and kicked Minot's ass. A game plan for Minot would be a novel approach. Willllllbur!!!!!! Damn You

  9. Mike Schmitt, not Randy Schmidt

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Mike Schmitt was in charge of the officials for the west region Tourney. Apparently this year the officials are trying to get more officials involved in tournament play so officials that work the regional tournaments do not work the state tourney. Which means we all experienced the same situation at both regional tournaments, Apparently (lets Hope) they haved scheduled the best refs for the State Tourney.

  10. Red River beat West Fargo 6-0

    Grafton beat Jamestown 8-2

Out west Minot beat Dickinson something like 11-0 and Mandan beat Bismarck Century. I think the Mandan score was 5-2 or 5-3.

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Minot 13 - Dickinson 0, Mandan 5 - Bismarck Century 2, Hazen 5 - Williston 4, and Bismarck was beating Devils Lake 6-2 late in the 2nd period when I left.
