All of your points are absolutely fair, but none of it precludes anyone from telling him he can't or shouldn't go. He's earned it and if selected, I think he should absolutely go. And we should celebrate this kid being good enough to get this shot. I guarantee his teammates and coaches will. Again, it's a massive feather in our program's cap to have an Olympian. How awesome was it to hear UND talked about when TJ Sochi became a household name a few years back?

He's surely good enough to play in the Olympics again, but "what ifs" always abound.... if he gets the offer and he wants to go, he should absolutely go.

Yeah, I think the messaging is weird that the US is willing to send others, but the main reason the NHL isn't sending players is because they are protecting their profits for the guys they have on contracts. That doesn't apply to college players.

The NHL doesn't want to delay the season and that is why they pulled the plug on NHL in Olympics.  Unfortunately, those 3 weeks already got booked by a majority of arenas for concerts etc.  It will be interesting to see how they get some makeup games completed. More bubble hockey???  As far as players and protecting those profits if the NHL had gone and a player tested positive, then the player would be out his contract, not ownership.   With the NHLPA not able to obtain a covid insurance policy players were in trouble.

College players carried team USA in 2018.   Just checked USA game times and puck drops in the prelim are 7 AM or 10PM CT.

<back on topic> If player gets the invite Berry should help him pack his bags to go.

  2. We seem to have NO urgency right now. They need pucks on net, plain and simple... enough with the failing razzle dazzle with the puck.

So the 14 shots on net are legit and not home cookin'?

  3. My cousin and I watched the game last night via the Rug and Doug. Just for fun, because we all know how much they love the Sioux, we decided to count 1) digs against UND, 2) positive mentions for UND, 3) digs again UMD and 4) positive mentions for UMD, during the broadcast last night.

    4) positive mentions for UMD = 24 (not counting Stalock = 8)

    3) negative mentions against UMD = 5

    2) positives mentions for UND = 5 (all via Woog)

    1) drum roll . . . negative mentions against UND = 19

    :silly:

Keep track of today's game too please! I think the digs will be much closer this time around.

Maybe if UND comes out to play they'll have some more positives. Just like us fans sitting on our hands, there wasn't a whole lot of good things coming out of the "X" for the backers in green.

  4. i wish all ncaa hockey teams would play on the same sheet. i prefer nhl ice overall but would just like to see it all the same. other sports dont use different size courts or fields ect......i think it would make the game better overall. im not opposed to olympic sheets but would like to see it all the same

    Baseball?

  5. Agreed.

UND has beaten host teams before (see 2008, March). There are only a couple of "easy" wins in the playoffs. I anticipate UND will not be getting any of those games due to not being a 1,2 seed. Thanks for explaining the benefit of being a #2 over #1. So my cheering will depend on the Thursday outcome. This is going to be a fun, fun weekend. Even better... this is a short week of work due to Thursday being game night.

  6. Can anyone familiar with Madison suggest some hotels that are downtown. I have been able to find a few online but so far none have had rooms available. We would like to stay right down town or as close as possible. Any suggestions would help.

Look to Bill Shatner.... he'll guide you.
