  1. alright, forgive me if this has been mentioned as i did not read all the posts. why not move the students into section 104? it is my understanding that most of those tickets belong to rea as corporate comp tickets. maybe they could buy out people in 105 and offer them a tab at the concessions, lord knows i could use one.

or keep the student section the same and hold a ticket swap. i have two season tickets in 302A and i would love to switch with someone that doesnt want to sit by the students. just my two cents.

  2. If you are going to make theories on why the students did not want to move to the end, at least understand all of the facts.  There would be a loss in the number of seats on the end.  The students already lost two sections that were supposed to be on the lower level.  Please add this info to your theories.

My suggestion is to give students sections 103-106, 303, and 306.  Of course people don't want atmosphere anymore.

my theory, as you call it, was simply let others know that REA did try to move the students. maybe i took it for granted that most would know that REA would try to shortchange the students in classic REA fashion, but i could have added the loss of seat info.

  3. I can guarantee you that these fans will be sitting and - gasp - watching the game -during the play and will still be just as loud as any hockey fans you've ever heard (well, maybe not the European fans).

You'll rarely see these fans stand (unless it's after a goal or because their trying to see over top or around some American lout) and yet they'll be every bit as enthusiastic as UND fans who believe the only good fan is a standing fan.

canuck, i agree with you. i am canadian aswell, and i sit during the game. i meant that when a goal is scored or there is a stoppage in play, there stands a chance that people will stand and cheer.

one thing for certain, canadians and euros will not blast right thru the vestibule and try to get back to their seat while game is being played. as canuck said, we have manors.

i think that one and only good thing that berning did try to do before he left was to move the student section to the ends of the rink before this season to try and eliminate this problem. the funny thing is, the student association voted the move down.

  4. cant wait to see how some of these "older" fans take wj. a good amount of fans will most likely be canadian and euros. granted they will most likely sit during play, but when they are standing up waiving a 3 ft x 3 ft flag of their home country around, is REA going to cave and give refunds to fans that bitch about that?

  5. here is my point goo...........i do not have to do any research on the things that i typed because, simply put, i knew they were false. i threw out a couple things about the betty and scholarships that i knew would get under the skin of a few people because they were not true.........kind of like the topic of this forum. when the herald runs a story that tells me tb is fired, i will believe it and probably invite you to get a beer and celebrate, but until then........it remains an opinion and a rumor.

  6. i stand corrected sioux goo. my facts about scholarships was incorrect.

okay i will admit that it is about money. however, if tb and his rea staff didnt make money and exceed projected budgets put forth by the board, would we have the betty? if tb wasnt making money wouldnt tc fired him a long time ago? dont get me wrong, i would have loved to see db stick around for a few more seasons, but i dont think his leaving can be blamed entirely on tb. gf is too small of a town for db to take his wife anywhere. columbus has a great medical facility. no one knows the blais' in columbus. with a lock out almost certain, dont you think that dean took the opportunity to focus on spending time with his wife, who is ill? and if leaving UND isnt a good enough example, why did he step down as the wj coach?

  7. good luck to dean. i hope that he can finally get some time to spend with his ill wife. i do believe that fighting sioux hockey will still come out on top even without dean, and i hope that we can bring an 8th championship to gf.

as far as the berning thing is concerned, it was and never will be about money. i think that some people fail to realize is that REA is a non-profit organization. it's in public records, look it up for yourselves. sure berning took ice away from dean, but by doing so he also got money to the university for scholarships. ever think of that. without that money would we have gotten parize, could we have get zajac? something to ponder.
