Congrats Sioux fans on a great year. I dread moving to the Big 10 for what it will mean to the Gopher-Sioux rivalry. Your team achieved above and beyond after the obstacles it faced. Look forward to many years (hopefully) of the best rivalry in college hockey.

Cichy with an assist on Team USAs second goal and he scored the third goal, it is 3-1 for Team USA at the end of the first period. It was a Gregoire-like goal from a tough angle.
MacWilliam threw the biggest hit of the period with Kristo on the receiving end. I am sure they will talk about that one when they are teammates.

Saw much of the OT from afar (I was bowling at the time) and I noticed that just about the entire OT UMN was in their offensive zone.
When I noticed that, I said "Well, unless things change drastically, the Gophers are going to win." And then, whamo. They scored.
That's ok. We needed this game. It was a good game. A close game apparently. Maybe we can use this loss to our advantage.
The only thing I wasn't impressed with was the jersey pop. However, I don't like jersey pops regardless of the team.
I think you forfeit your right to comment when you are going for a 7-10 split

I was at the last Final Five game where these teams crowned a Champion (2004). I was blown away. Simply awesome hockey (just look up the names )
Tonights game didn't equal that game but...
I thought the two best teams in the country lined up tonight. Let's dispense with the formalities and have a real playoff.
Best of three series, MN vs NoDak, winner takes all. That my friends is college hockey at it's finest!

im sure it will be on nhl center ice package picking up the tsn feed. im sure that bars would have that package around the cities
That's what I thought too. I called two bars asking if they had the center ice package both said yes. Stupid 16 year old girls answering the phone. They didn't nor did the nex bar we went to, all chain sports bars. I am sure some places in the cities have the center ice package but it sure aint many.

Chatter from the Denver vs Air Force internet feed, in reference to NoDak "They have no goaltending" Went on to say how they lost five guys from last years team and the tough effects. "That's hard". Not flaming, just passing on what I heard.

A fine article in a reputable publication written by a recognized (BADgers suck!) columnist.

Add the Jeopardy! skits to my list of faves......
The Jeopardy skits with Sean Connery are classic.
CONNNERY: Nice coat Trebek
TREBEK: Uh... thanks
CONNERY: Do they make it for men?

I was surprised when Russia didn't agree to the transfer deal with the NHL, that and the seeming use of Malkin as a pawn got me thinking about that country. The more things change...

Congrats to Matt Carle. The most deserving player won it.

Yep, on paper the Mavs should have no chance. They also should have had no chance against Wisconsin or St. Cloud on paper, yet they swept them both in two consecutive weekends.
By no stretch am I saying that the Mavs will sweep the Sioux. In fact, I really don't expect them to win the series. I do expect it to go three games, and the Mavs to give you guys a hard weekend. An upset is not entirely out of the question.
As I posted on USCHO, stats also say that no team has ever come out of the play-in game to win the WCHA tourney, but I'll bet you guys think you can be the ones to end that.
Stats are just that: interesting.
Don't be discouraged, your team is rated in the top five (along with the sioux) in at least one category.

Just a note, Kessel spends the majority of his time on a line with Wheeler (Freshman) and Gordon (Sophmore). He does however appear on the number one power play unit.

Curious George's comments:...
Intend to hang from the rafters tonight and eat banana's.
LOL, I heard they hired the man with the big yellow hat as an assistant.

That was awesome.

I could see NDSU being successful in hockey. The biggest advantage they would have is that they are becoming a DI school, that means they will have an expanding athletics budget and great exposure. But to make it work they are going to need some top notch facilities, if they can get that done they have a lot going for them. They would be the only other DI school to compete for recruits in the area other than Minnesota and to a lesser extent Wisconsin.

The Warroad goaltender (Potts) is doing a great job right now.
Marvin is all over the place and, thus far, has 2 assists (helped on both goals they've scored). FSN guys are raving about him.
EDIT: Make that 3 assists. As well as a short handed breakaway attempt and a drawn penalty. He's really doing everything.
We need to get this guy.
EDIT2: Marvin gets an empty netter after picking the Roseau player's pocket. 1G 3A for the night.
Marvin was a stud tonight, this was my first time seeing him play. Like redwing said he was all over the ice, you couldn't help but notice him.

I thought it was very interesting that the BADgers number one goalie goes down and they lose their next home game 1-0.
There's a couple ways to take that. A) Sconnie is a fundamentally sound team that had their confidence shaken when there was uncertainty (in their minds) between the pipes. B) Their offensive output this year has been a byproduct of a confidence that they could take chances with Elliot in net.
OR...
C) We are getting close to February/March and the BADgers feel the end is near.

I disagree, Oshie most likely did everything, and more, the coaches were expecting from him. So, while he's disappointed in the team outcome, he should feel good about his contribution. If everyone would have exceeded expectations like Oshie did, it would have been a cakewalk. If some would have just met expectations, we would have won.
Back in the 2004 WJC when the Americans won the Championship, the US "Star" wasn't a disappointment. He was name the top forward, 1st tournament team, and the Tournament MVP. That's the type of performance that's needed out of the "star" player.
Green is the color of envy. Coincedence? I think not.

Speaking of chip on shoulders, apparently Jess Myers has one.
"Despite the etched glass and the marble and the leather everywhere, you still are hard pressed to find folks dying to visit Grand Forks during those months when the prairie winds can chill you to the bone and when reports of

That's the whole point. It is very unlikely it would be. Name one player on the Sioux rooster who would pull the same crap? Go to an earlier thread and watch the reply of Spiko's goal when he undressed Harrington and Briggs and his reaction afterward. Overall team character is one big reason I'm such a big Sioux fan.
Chorney.
Thats what makes crying about it stupid. It is an intense emotional series between these teams, let the kids play.
Good to see the Gophers put two solid games together. See ya in January at Mariucci.

The Kessel Goal shouldn't have been counted I am sorry. But that being said, UND was flat tonight.
You should go back and look at the tape. No issues on that goal.
I love when these two teams play, seriously it ends up being what college hockey should be. Skilled teams racing up and down the ice trading goals.

If you want to talk about a chip on the shoulder, you might want to go back to the best player Minnesota plucked from NoDak, Grant Potulny. I would trade Ryan or Danny for Grant, period.
-
You better hope you get beter team goaltending from your sievey goaltender or your team will be lucky to get a point next weekend. Briggs looked sick and I haven't been that impressed with Frazee. Also, your team defense is non existant, they are all up ice in the offensive zone and will give up a lot of out maned breaks.
Briggs certainly wasnt stellar, but a good share of the problem was the team defense like you said. It definately needs to improve.

Speaking of a good, free web broadcast, have any of you watched the Anchorage one? It is put out by the cable company up there (GCI?) Supposedly it is only meant for GCI subscribers but I have been able to get it several times. The quality is phenomenal for a web broadcast, good picture, no choppiness or freezing and the audio is very good also.
I don't know NoDaks schedule but if you play at Anchorage, check out the game thread on USCHO, somebody should post a link for it.
Looking forward to a Sioux beat down next weekend

Gopher fan with a hell of a lot a respect for North Dakota... Hopefully see you next year in the regular season.
