  1. I can’t make it and have 2 seats, Sec 216, Row I, Seats 20 and 21, that is 9 rows up on the south 20 yard line on the visitor side. Based on the current market for 2 together in this area, $100 ea. If you are interested, I will throw in the same 2 seats for the Drake game for an additional $25 ea as I have to work next Saturday. I am losing on both deals.

  2. My wife and I are moving and my son came home this weekend and went through some of his stuff and found a stack of the UND Hockey trading cards from the early 2000s.  He saved several but left me about a half inch stack.  Trying to upload picture but having a problem.  Looking to give to someone that would like them.

It would be nice if East Grand Forks sponsored a team, and the GF HSs co-oped with them.

A little public input might help.  A few letters to the Editor of the GF Herald could help.

  4. Grand Cities Lacrosse Association, kids from Grand Forks and East Grand Forks, Varsity team defeated Black Hills (Rapid City, SD) today 10-9 to win their second Dakota Premier Lacrosse League Championship in three years.  The Grand Cities JV team defeated Watertown, SD for the JV championship.  The 14U team defeated Black Hills for 3rd place, and the 12U team defeated Bismarck/Mandan for 3rd place.

Next up for Grand Cities Lacrosse are some summer tournaments and day camps here in town.

  5. Now that single game tickets are available, along with the new season ticket sales, pickings are getting pretty slim for the Potato Bowl.  I would love to see this building sold out!

When did the club program at winona get suspended? I can't see any info about it online, and they are still listed on the ACHA's website.

Around Christmas break.  School motor pool found a beer bottle cap in one of the vans the hockey team had used for a game and pinned it on the hockey team.

Depending on the conference I think that 2500 capacity would be the bare minimum, so long as it has modern broadcast facilities. I'm not sure how the CCHA would come back, the WCHA for all intents and purposes is the CCHA with four Old WCHA holdovers. I'm curious as to which schools would add hockey to keep both conferences intact. Well, I guess the best way is which schools could do this via the ASU route (smaller donation) or the PSU route (Larger donation plus arena).

    Minnesota

Moorhead State University- Dragons - ASU route - They came pretty close to adding hockey a few years ago but were unable to. Now with a better economy and a Republican legislature which is more interested in helping the state universities, Moorhead would probably need less donated capital to start a hockey program. While I think Moorhead could get a Bonding bill passed to build a new arena it would likely be able to use Scheels Arena until it could build its arena, the Sanford Center would be a good template for a Moorhead arena, plus the arena could also host spuds matchups and youth hockey. I am reasonably confident that Moorhead will have D1 hockey in the not too distant future.

U of M Crookston- Golden Eagles- (PSU) - This is a long shot, as a community Crookston is quite small when you add in the college student body the town has just over 10,000 people. However, for the sake of argument, Crookston does still have a successful division 2 club, and actually, would have a new and more decent facility that it could play in than ASU's oceanside arena. And actually, it would have the same capacity as Robert Morris.Of course, the downside of a return of Golden Eagle hockey would be that Crookston would be in the shadow of UND hockey, but never say never. Even if they didn't get the money for a new arena, they would still have a serviceable facility to play at. All that said I still think this would be a long shot, a very long shot.

South West State University - Mustangs - (ASU) - This one is another longshot, but maybe not as much as Crookston. SWSU has an enrollment of around 9,000 students making it larger than BSU and has a town which is around 13,000 residents, again similar to Bemidji. The school does currently have intermural teams, but I can't find any mention of a club team. This city also has a newly built arena (Red Baron Ice Arena) which has a capacity of 1400, which is the same as Holy Cross College,.this could work in a pinch until funding could be obtained for a new arena. But I think they would only need to build a Ridder Arena-Sized building; it is possible that Read Barron Arena could be augmented to add another side of bleachers and bring up the seating capacity to just under 3000. I think this is still a long shot but not quite as long as Crookston.

Winona State Unversity - Warriors - (PSU) - With around 10,000 students and a city of just over 27,000 Winona on paper is probably the best choice for hockey other than Moorhead State. Winona Has an existing ACHA DII club program which seems to generate a good bit of interest on campus. The biggest obstacle Warrior hockey would face is the lack of even minimally acceptable facilities, the team currently plays at Bud King Arena which seats 500, this would not work. Winona would need a brand new facility I think something Similar in size to Sandford Center or Verizon Wireless Center. Though if the Facility was a multipurpose facility designed to host basketball and hockey games, they might find it easier to get funding. Still from what I understand club hockey is still fairly new at Winona, but it's off to a promising start.

    I'll do the dakotas later...

The UM Crookston NCAA D2 program has been folded for years and the UMC club program has had a history of ups and downs.  Talking to several alumni, there will be no hockey at UMC under the current athletic director.

The Winona State club program is on a 2 year suspension for disciplinary purposes and most of the hockey players have or are planning on transferring to other schools to keep playing club hockey.

Utah is adding DI lax if board approves President's recommendation

Utah doesnt currently have a conference to play in.

Meanwhile, Dakota lacrosse growth is happening:

    http://www.kdlt.com/2017/06/11/growth-expected-dakota-premier-lacrosse-league/

Utah will have options for a conference.  Denver and Marquette play in the Big East, Air Force in the Southern Conference.  Lacrosse conferences get kinda convoluded but conferences and teams find a way to make it work.

Grand Cities Lacrosse had a good weekend in Sioux Falls last weekend in the Dakota Premier League Championships.  Varsity, 14U, and 12U all took home Runner Up finishes and our JV won their championship.

Minot has 120+ kids doing a familiarization clinic right now an are hoping to play some games if not a league schedule at 14U and below next spring.

  9. The seats are in Section 314A, Row G, Seats 3-6.  Short row over the Northeast tunnel, no people stepping over you.

I would like to keep the Friday Union game as a family friend plays for Union and we would like to see those games.  Other Friday games are:

    Oct 13 vs St Lawrence

    Oct 20 vs Minnesota

    Nov 10 vs Miami

    Dec 1 vs Western Michigan

    Jan 5 vs Omaha

    Jan 26 vs Denver

    Feb 9 vs Colorado College

    Mar 2 vs St Cloud

Mar 9 First Round of NCHC Playoffs

$900.  I would prefer to keep the block together but will consider selling 2 blocks of 2 at $450 each.  Original printed tickets will be sent once I receive the prior to the season in September with the ticket office send them out.

If interested, contact me by private message.
