  1. General gossip from around campus. Mussman apparently the only asst. to apply for head coaching position. Bellmore and Schmidt really have no ties to area so going is a solid idea. Heard Bubba isn't happy at Duluth and would welcome the change. I believe the Hedberg/Lennon fued? if you want to call it that is all but over and I think Hedberg would be a good Offensive Coordinator at SIU. We'll see if I'm right here shortly. Gossip will turn to fact or fiction in the next couple weeks.

    Bubba is going to SIU.

  2. It looks like a few of the K-State faithful have somewhat mixed feelings on the job that Tim Tibesar is doing as DC down there.

    Rumor Mill:

Lennon asked Mussman to be the OC at SIU, Mussman declined after being assured that he will be the next head coach at UND. Tibesar would need a lot of $$ to leave KSU.

Lennon has asked Bubba to go. Answer unknown.

    Kelling looking into Mankato job.

How does UND salary schedule compare to other DI schools of similar size?

  3. I was also at the game yesterday and I think people are missing the fact that Mankato has some impressive players on offense. Their offense lacks a quality RB, but their QB and WRs are very impressive. Mankato had a lot of tall and fast athletes at WR. Their top receiver was out of the game. I was also impressed by the quality of their OL, #71 is one of the largest human beings I've ever seen. UND did rush only 3 at times which does make the OL's job a lot easier. I was very proud to see the Sioux battle back and compete. They played like a team/program that is use to winning.

Purple Mavs down Red Mavs next!

  4. Well I drove by the stadium and it looks like they are ripping up the turf. Are they replacing it for this season? Are they gonna finally replace it with fieldturf? You think they woudl have done the Alerus first, just kinda caught my eye when I saw the field torn up like that.

Field Turf is being installed. In the long term Sioux Football will return to the site. The current west stands of Memorial Stadium will be at the end of a horseshow. This plan is a long way from being reality.

  5. THis is my first post here. I am a die hard green and white UND Fighting Sioux all the way guy living in Bisonville. Now that UND has moved to D1 i have some questions for Sioux fans and other fans as well. 1. Is it 5 years til the Sioux will be eligible for playoffs when they start D1-AA so 2013? 2. Is UND going to follow NDSU and eventually move to a better conference example the Gateway or Big Sky or etc. or stay in the GW? 3. Is a UND-NDSU game in works anytime soon?? I miss the hype and a Sioux victory over the Bison. And to add to my first question how long is UND not elegible for basketball? I heard its longer than football isn't it?? Any talk about a conference for UND basketball too. Thanks for letting my join in on this board. ;)

I think b-ball has to wait at least 7 years. I'm not positive. I think that the conference issue is a little out of UND's hands. All we can do is apply, conferences make a call on what schools to accept. The best best is for more schools like W. Kentucky to move up to 1A to allow scheduling difficuties for conferences. My guess is that the AC will try and play UND within 3 years, basketball even sooner. Are UND and the AC more appealing to conferences as a package? IMO I think that some conferences see this as two long travel dates.

  6. I think that Lennon made a move to show UND that he has options. He was able to get some more money for his coaches and for the program. When your shock is high you need to push management. It was a move to improve Sioux Football, not to fill his pockets.

  7. There has been a lot of speculation about his behavior. It's probably one of those things to just forget about. If Lennon let him go it must be for a reason. Lennon will never disclose the information, he wouldn't want to damage the kid any more. Although Riza's departure hurt initially, in the long run the Sioux are better off. I think we all know from our observations what happens when a program (I won't say what program) lets a player's poor behavior go unpunished.

  8. I was at a practice this week and the boys looked good. I think Belmore will be the QB to beat after Bo. He is an athletic kid with lots potential. The O-Line struggled a little but they'll improve with some experience. The defense has a lot of talent so there are going to be some good players on the sideline. The outside linebacker positions are stacked, hopefully those players can keep their egos in check and allow for proper substitution. For all fans of the much debated "bubble screens" I did see some tunnel screens and some other high percentage throws. If you need an explanation of the differences I can explain in a future post. Riza is history.
