I agree with Sic. I'd go like this:

    C -- Pogo, A -- Olson, A -- Simo, A -- Wolanin, A -- Gersich and JJ as a wildcard to get a letter

I'd like to see Cam get a letter, too. Just seems like he's always been such a calming influence on our team.

I see on Twitter that Cam has posted that the campaign to name him captain has started!

This is not the first time we have lost great players and won't be the last.  Have to believe that a lot of the younger players from this years team will continue to develop as they showed during the season and next year's crop looks promising.  Had to figure some of the forwards were going to leave early with guys like Mismash, Jones, Adams and Kawaguchi lined up to come in this fall.  The Natty team was hit hard particularly with the loss of Ladue and Stecher and we paid for the inexperience early in the year but at the end of the year the Freshmen improved significantly and should be solid from the get go this fall.  The sky is not falling.

Well said! I think you can build a better team with the second level players (and when I say second level I mean not 1st round draft picks). If you have 15 forwards and 8 defenseman all competing for playing time, you have a healthier team atmosphere then if you have players come in with a lot of hype and are deemed the best player on the ice before they even lace up the skates, I think that leads to more individual play. 2 years ago we were lucky to have strong leadership with Cags, Stetcher, Ladue and Asmus which kind of helps put a Boeser or Schmaltz in line. Guarantee this team will be at the top of the NCHC next season and will not come down to the last weekend in order to make the national tournament!

Jost scored twice against BC in NYC. We don't make the tourney without that win. Boeser scored the GWG in the title game last year.

well we could go on and on with each game, no doubt Boeser was awesome in the championship game. I think he disappeared at times this year and that could be health. As far as crediting Jost with getting us in the tournament is a real stretch. How about doing a little more against the Goofs, Michigan St, we were shutout by CC and Omaha. Win any of those and we would not have needed the BC game.

So the two most skilled players leave on a team that just had to claw their way in, and you're not worried?

I really do believe that, have to have team talent not individuals. Players who are grasping to get better over 1st rounders who are just waiting for the phone to ring. Let's count the championships from Toews, Parise, Oshie, Boeser, Jost? Brock got one on a team that played great together and played good defense and with grit. Very little grit this year. Just my opinion. Now I enjoyed everyone of those players and proud they played for the Sioux!

    Lol....

What I laugh out loud about is we lose two players on a team that had to win their way into the tournament. way too many missed opportunities and not much big game play! When you really needed them they kind of disappeared. The program will be fine!

I won't begrudge a kid for signing a professional contract. I hope it goes well for him and that he doesn't get stuck in the AHL for a year or two.

But there are others who also think that the leadership on this team was not as strong as it was last year.

I agree totally with everything you are saying, but if they are 1st round talent why did they have to win their way in the last week of the season. Guess I can't lose sleep over him or Boeser leaving. Time to reload!

  7. Good riddance! Let's get some talent that buys into the program, and has pride in the history of this program. Good luck with the worst program in the NHL. I think our two "superstars" had the NHL on the brain before the national tournament and it showed in their performance. Just look at the odd man rushes with either one of those two that amounted to nothing. Our best players were not those two when it counted last Friday in my opinion, so build on the ones who showed up with other quality players who want to win championships!

He was the best player on the ice yesterday....other than maybe Keller I guess.

Not sure what game you were watching, but 24 was responsible for the first and third goal for BU. he did get us one back. Defensively he is very very average and will not sniff the NHL as a d-man for a long time. I think he would make a great wing on a checking line. In his own zone he sends weak passes out front, looks nervous. In the O-zone he is crisp with passes and has a rocket of a shot. I don't get it but he was far from the best player on the ice, hope the kid sticks around and improves because he has the tools.

You better watch the game again, first goal he coughed it up and they score, 3rd goal he was behind their net and they score . Twice Johnson saves his ass stopping breakaways. This has went on all season and he connects with a slap shot and you all think he is great. Be a good wing but on D he is horrible!

    And that's a wrap...good season boys.

jost, wolanin and pogo need to stay.  They do and we'll be very good next season.  Our frosh dmen are nice, wolanin's a beauty.  They got a lot of !@#$ they didn't deserve but they're solid.

Wolanin cost us the game, he was brutal! He needs to play forward or go away as he is pathetic on D

You are new here, but this the way that we roll in here.  We are a community of Sioux hockey fans and we talk about where others are sitting because we actually meet during the games.  Last weekend in MSP, there was a brunch for people who are in here.  We do talk plenty of hockey, but we also cover everything associated with the games.  Have fun and get to know some of the great people on this site.  You are not going to meet a more passionate bunch of fans.

New to contributing to the site, but not new at all to the site as I check it daily. And I always enjoy all the fans on here.....Well most anyway. HaHa. Just a little starved for hocey talk is all, did not mean to offend anyone.

  12. I hate when the regional is in Fargo, 3 days now of ticket and tv talk and no talk of Hockey! I am guessing most people could care less where you are sitting or when your credit card was billed. How about do we think Tucker is playing, or strengths/weaknesses of BU. Can Ohio St shock the Dogs? Go Sioux!
