Just had a conversation with a friend who's a top level exec with Texas department of public health. I trust this guy.

We need to listen to health care providers.

That's obviously a strict mathematical formula derived from previous weeks data combined with the number of elderly in this country.  I could probably do the same thing every year with the flu & pneumonia.

"It's the liberal media!!!", "They're politically out to get Trump!!!".  Give it a rest already man.  Getting torn to shreds by the media is part of the job. Every president had to deal with it,

Why people fail to realize Trump's thin skin isn't a huge detriment, I'll never understand.  He needs to STFU, quit complaining like a little girl every time he opens his mouth, and do his job like a man.  Spending copious amounts of his energy and time blaming the media for everything is childish and detracts from his job, especially in a time like this.....which gets to my original point of why he's turned everything into a freakin' circus.

Am very thankful that Trump isn't afraid of those Pharisee journalists.  They have needed to be challenged for more than a generation.  Most got in to the business because they thought they were so pure morally.

Pump the brakes!  Let’s not try to sustain the panic we’re creating!  At least wait until after the November election before being optimistic!

I have no beef with how Trump has managed this.  Is he a blowhard- yep.  But I’m not sure what actions I would’ve had him do earlier.  You didn’t want to jump to this, because you knew the fallout would be terrible.

we don’t have people dying in the streets.  It’s being managed as best as I would hope at the time being.

California and Seattle will have problems because all the homeless are vulnerable as they have a myriad health issues, sanitation, and addictions.

Nah, Dr. Fauci is likely tired of Trump's petulance and the circus atmosphere.

Most grown adults roll their eyes at things that resemble a WWE event; which is what most of what Trump touches devolves into.  His recent press conferences =  ¼ information for the public, ½ Trump ceaselessly praising himself, ¼ bickering with the media.

Then again, I can understand why his hardened-supporters would find that attractive. It’s not exactly Hulk Hogan off the top rope, but it’s the next best thing I suppose.

I agree, it's always a circus atmosphere.  And his narcissism makes everyone cringe.   Most grown adults also realize the media inaccurately reports on this administration constantly in an effort to make him look bad.  If a bunch of jackasses twisted my words in the midst of a worldwide pandemic, still writing columns 19 days after misrepresenting a statement I made by claiming I called it a hoax and wasn't doing a damn thing about it, I would tell them to pound sand, too.  So would you.

Btw I've asked this about 4 times in this thread but no one ever answers it;   When you claim all presidents have to deal with this type of back and forth, can you point me to any links where the main stream media was calling out Obama before, during, or after over 12000 Americans died of the swine flu?   Did anyone/everyone falsely claim he called it a hoax?

I have a huge beef with him tweeting about azithromycin and hydroxychloroquine used together as if it's a cure all.  Saying if "Taken together, have a real chance to be one of the biggest game changers in the history of medicine."  Holy.  It's a study with six people in the treatment arm.  SIX.  That's reckless.  Leave the medicine to the professionals.

Congratulations when we can't even treat basic community acquired pneumonia with anything less than zosyn cause the resistance to azithromycin is about to skyrocket.  And from what I've heard from most of my friends who work in retail is that the massive hoards of scripts they are filling for azith and hydroxychloroquine are predominantly for providers and their families.

How long until we see the first robbery for this instead of opioids cause people think the "cure" is being withheld from them?

You are correct in that as of right now we have no studies to support use of hydroxyxhloroquine with or without Azithromycin. We have some isolated, unsubstantiated reports. No one should be prescribing for friends or health care workers anymore than people should hoard TP or PPE. It should be saved for hospitalized patients who have either tested positive or are highly suspicious for COVID-19. I will say exactly what I said before going into combat. This is what we signed up for. Let’s do our job, no complaining, watch out for one another and have each other’s backs. The new standard for community acquired pneumonia was just changed. It’s back to Amoxicillin 1gm tid  or Doxycycline 100mg bid x 5d or longer if Sx persist. They don’t need to be hospitalized unless they need oxygen or fluid resuscitation or have other complications. Zosyn isn’t on the list no should it have been with few exceptions.
Remdesivir is part of multiple ongoing studies. China as of 2/6, And multiple studies in the US starting 2/21. Hoping for results early May. I would guess if early results are excellent they will ramp up production and start widespread use. Stay safe. Thanks for your work.

Um...I think the President of the United States has access to some of the top professionals and experts in the industry keeping him updated about other case studies than what's just repeated on the internet.

Here is Obama speaking on the criticism that goes with the job of being president. Much of the first minute can be applied to every presidency, especially Trump. There is Trump the person and Trump the Symbol of the presidency. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9HO-9AZjflY&feature=emb_title

Here are some articles demonstrating criticism and challenging Obama's handling of the swine flu, lack of vaccines, improper response, and growing negative media coverage. These are hard to find since it was almost a decade ago. The closest thing I could find to Obama calling swine flu a hoax was he first used the argument that the traditional flu is much more deadly as a reason for the public not to be concerned and ignore the issue. A few months later he then declared a national emergency. Sounds similar to todays news.

The media has been unfair to Trump, especially in his times of success. The justification for extra criticism is he is held to a different standard since he is not a career politician. However, when given opportunities to prove himself as a strong leader he sometimes fails. Leaders need to be called out for it, it is part of their job to handle it. With out allowing for healthy skepticism of our government and the decisions made, it will make us resemble a socialist/communist country.

FDR gave an iconic response that will be remembered for generations in relation to the public being afraid. The media gave Trump an easy question about the public being scared. And there are a lot of people who are afraid (evidence by there being no toilet paper in grand forks). All he had to do was give a typical BS response to inspire and give hope to our country and all he did was crap on the reporter. This too will be an iconic response that will be remember for generations.

EVERY president?  The news media openly covered for a president stricken with polio (FDR) and made sure the average American voter didn’t see him as a “cripple.”  The same news media wouldn’t have DARED to cross JFK and go public with his out of control appetite for sex...hell, they were awestruck by “Camelot.”  The fawning of our media “watchdogs” over Obama was laughable at best.  But by all means though, please continue...

Paradoid?

Recrimination?

Yep, he did.  We have nothing to fear but fear itself.  Great speech.  Then he went out and rounded up Japanese Americans and put them into prison camps.

Yes, this President is well known for utilizing top professionals in the industry and relying heavily on their advice. See his contradictions of medical professionals in the early stages of the pandemic response, or we can look at his selections to lead the EPA, Interior, Education, and my new favorite - Richard Grenell, our Director of National Intelligence with no background in intelligence whatsoever. Grenell is a staunch Trump supporter, which is literally the ONLY pre-requisite for a position of power in this administration. SMH.

Were he a Democrat, Richard Grenell would be a hero to the LGBTQ+ community.  As a Republican, however, well, you know...
