100,000 people have flocked to Tulsa where an indoor arena will be packed for a MAGA rally with people not wearing masks, including our president. The Rona’s gonna be so thick from all the screaming they’ll be able to taste it. Sounds like a great way to peel that band aid off quickly so trump can just get it over with and catch covid.

    1. According to the latest immunological and serological studies, the overall lethality of Covid-19 (IFR) is about 0.1% and thus in the range of a strong seasonal influenza (flu).
    2. In countries like the US, the UK, and also Sweden (without a lockdown), overall mortality since the beginning of the year is in the range of a strong influenza season; in countries like Germany, Austria and Switzerland, overall mortality is in the range of a mild influenza season.
    3. Even in global “hotspots”, the risk of death for the general population of school and working age is typically in the range of a daily car ride to work. The risk was initially overestimated because many people with only mild or no symptoms were not taken into account.
    4. Up to 80% of all test-positive persons remain symptom-free. Even among 70-79 year olds, about 60% remain symptom-free. Over 95% of all persons develop at most moderate symptoms.
    5. Up to 60% of all persons may already have a certain cellular background immunity to Covid19 due to contact with previous coronaviruses (i.e. common cold viruses).
    6. The median or average age of the deceased in most countries (including Italy) is over 80 years and only about 4% of the deceased had no serious preconditions. The age and risk profile of deaths thus essentially corresponds to normal mortality.
    7. In many countries, up to two thirds of all extra deaths occurred in nursing homes, which do not benefit from a general lockdown. Moreover, in many cases it is not clear whether these people really died from Covid19 or from weeks of extreme stress and isolation.

Here's an interesting read that came across my Twitter feed today. Not minimizing the Coronavirus. You can do with it what you want. I found some of the information interesting because it backs up a lot of what has been said on here. Just kind of gives one person's perspective.

So Antifa is behind chop/Chaz?

Militant Antifa group policing CHOP or CHAZ

PSJBGC is a group of activists that believe they’re fighting Nazis. And they’ve taken to support and protect CHAZ or CHOP from its perceived enemies.

The group claims to back “active resistance to the corrosive and destructive social effects of white supremacy, sexism, bigotry, and economic exploitation.” They laud former member Willem van Spronsen as a hero and martyr, when in actuality the domestic terrorist tried to firebomb the Northwest Detention Center in Tacoma, Washington.

Shattering the claim that Antifa groups aren’t organizing nor operational at CHAZ or CHOP, PSJBGC openly touts the security services they offer. Speaking to the Daily Beast, a member explained they were “tapped to provide a security escort for ‘some very prominent black voices who were doing speeches here at the Autonomous Zone.'”

From the Wall Street Journal.

Early coronavirus testing data from a handful of U.S. cities and states suggest that recent protests against racial injustices haven't yet led to a marked uptick in new cases. Public-health officials warn that the data is still preliminary, however, and protest-related cases could still rise.

In Minnesota, where the police killing of George Floyd led to protests there and across the country, 1.8% of test results have come back positive as of Monday among 3,200 protesters who were tested at community sites, the state’s health department said. An additional 8,500 Minnesota protesters have been tested through their health-care providers or at other sites, with a positivity rate of 0.99% so far, according to the department.

Do you disagree that mask wearing and being outdoors may have hindered the spread of covid at the protests?

Right.....that's why you see youth baseball, softball, soccer and FB  camps everywhere you turn.

BTW we were told by the media repeatedly blacks were affected more by coronavirus because the virus is (systemically) racist.......but for the greater good though I guess.

NDSU cancelled all their sports camps but obviously no one has an issue with hundreds (good portion without maske) protesting and marching on campus today.

There’s been plenty of documented outbreaks in confined or enclosed spaces. Outdoors not so much, except Mardi Gras, but they weren’t wearing masks and that also consisted of a number of bars and clubs that are indoors.

Are you implying that minority health issues do not correlate with systemic racism?

"minority" health issues make as much sense as the phrase "social" justice

I'm implying there's a double standard.  Protests and marches....no problem. Youth sports outdoors....safer at home. If you're too blind to see that so be it.

Oh i hear you, but does the double standard apply to someone holding another’s neck down to the ground with their knee? Or how about using tear gas on people that could be infected with covid already?

I do disagree.  If that was the case campgrounds and state parks would be full capacity in MN.

The media is grousing when people are still outside in Tulsa.

https://www.mediaite.com/news/watch-viral-videos-show-teeming-throngs-of-maskless-trump-fans-lining-up-for-tulsa-rally/

Tell me the difference between outdoors groups: Tulsa and the 100k in a plaza in Philly a couple weeks ago. Strictly the outdoors aspects.

So why was Philly okay but Tulsa is a problem.

Ha, that's a loaded question. Protests are okay, but political rallies aren't. :)

It's bias, simple as that.

But why are you referring to the 'media' as some uniform and all-encompassing entity?   By that same token, is not 'the media' portraying Seattle in a biased manner?
