Fauci ‘not 100 percent right’ about COVID-19 spike, top US testing official says

Quote

The country’s top testing official said Dr. Anthony Fauci, who has suggested states should pause reopening where coronavirus cases are spiking, is “not 100 percent right.”

“I respect Dr. Fauci a lot, but Dr. Fauci is not 100 percent right, and he also doesn’t necessarily, he admits that, have the whole national interest in mind,” Adm. Brett Giroir said Sunday on NBC News’ “Meet the Press.” “He looks at it from a very narrow public health point of view.”

Host Chuck Todd asked Giroir, the testing coordinator at the Department of Health and Human Services, about a Washington Post report that said Fauci has argued states with spikes should shut down again.

Giroir said he doesn’t “think we need to shut down” again — “at least in most places around the country” but suggested Americans “avoid bars” and “wear a mask in public.”

Coronavirus expert says Americans will be wearing masks for ‘several years’

Quote

Health experts won’t ask Americans to take off their masks any time soon.

That’s the take of Eric Toner, a senior scholar at the Johns Hopkins Center for Health Security. He has been preparing for an outbreak like the novel coronavirus as part of his work for years.

Johns Hopkins practices virus simulations as part of is preparedness protocol, with the goal of offering public health experts and policymakers a blueprint of what to do in a pandemic. One of those simulations took place in October 2019, when Toner and a team of researchers launched a coronavirus pandemic simulation in New York, running through various scenarios on how residents, governments and private businesses would hypothetically react to the threat.

Thailand plans human testing for potential coronavirus vaccine

Quote

Thai researchers plan to begin human trials of a potential vaccine for the new coronavirus in November and are preparing 10,000 doses, a senior official said on Sunday, aiming for a vaccine that could be ready for use by late next year.

Following favorable results in trials on primates, the next step is to manufacture doses for human trials, said Kiat Ruxrungtham, director of the Bangkok’s Chulalongkorn University vaccine development program.

“At first we were going to send them in June, but it was not easy to plan everything,” Kiat told a news conference.

There are no approved vaccines for the virus that causes COVID-19, but 19 candidates are being trailed in humans globally. China is leading the race, with an experimental vaccine by Sinovac Biotech Ltd

This country is being bright to its knees by fear....not the virus. Recovery from getting the virus is a couple weeks. Recovery of society from this hysteria will be years.

It’s sad that about half the country still believes outlets like msnbc and cnn.  You would think after they lied everyday for 3 years about Russian collusion, people would get the hint of what their t

would have been nice if the reporter asked if they even asked about hydroxyclorine/zinc or they just waited til it was too late becasue Joy Bahar said that was dangerous?

If only they were trump supporters, he could still be alive today, how could the reporter miss that part of the story?

I'm not sure how this is a response to anything.  Obama commuted or pardoned a lot of non-violent drug offenders that were caught up in mandatory minimum sentences.  It was pretty bipartisan.

If they were so bipartisan then why do over 600 the last 2-3 days he was in office?

so obama commuted a bunch of people caught up in "mandatory minumum sentences"...wonder who wrote the laws that made those....it's like dems/commys/losers don't even know joe's greatest achievement.

Joe has received a lot of crap from the left for his crime efforts a couple of decades ago.  There is a lot of hesitation about Kamala due to her prosecutorial background.  It is not unnoticed.

Last two polls in from Texas are Biden +5 and Trump +1.  I don’t think Biden is winning and I think he will lose Texas by at least 3, but the interesting part of the Trump +1 poll was that almost everyone was locked in to a decision.  People know Trump and they either love or hate him.

Well, if they don’t know Biden after 40+ years in public office, that is really sad.

Here is a table of filtration efficiencies for different face covering types for those curious. I'll let you decide what constitutes thin.

After not having any study that showed Remdesivir having any affect on mortality, I see the maker of the drug published their own study to show it helps mortality.

Shocking. I know.

And the TV/Twitter political doctors suddenly forgot about the words "peer review" and "anecdotal" and replaced them with "encouraging."

This shameful.

Orange County inflated its coronavirus test numbers by mistakenly including antibody tests, officials say

Quote

The total number of COVID-19 tests conducted in Orange County was mistakenly inflated for more than a month beginning in late April in data released to the public, an error that may have painted a rosier picture of the pandemic than the reality in the region.

For roughly five weeks, county staff incorrectly added 30,000 serology tests to its “cumulative tests to date” figure, which made it appear that more testing for the virus was happening than was the case.

The federal government knew we didn’t have enough masks in March, and it’s now July and we still don’t have enough. But let’s go ahead and end this bs talk about masks like trump wishes. Sheep.

Wait so we aren’t supposed to just live with it? It’s not going to just go away magically on its own?

N95 masks, brilliant. If we get them in order now we can get one for every American by 2021, even before the vaccine is here!

Huh?

Fauci said we should not be wearing masks. That was my point.

Has the production of N95 masks ramped up?

Still cant find any at my big box home improvement store.

Why aren't those being pushed more.

How much more protection does that give than a thin "face covering" that only catches large particulates being expelled and doesnt do any filtering like a N95.

Easy way to save lives. Especially when some of the ever conflicting evidence shows you can get it just from breathing indoor air not even from a surface or being close to anyone.

let me try to explain this one more time....n95 mask will protect the person wearing them, but does nothing to protect the general public.  they are designed to filter air intake, and have a valve in them to completely expell exhausted air. so if you have covid, and are wearing an n95 mask in public, you are not doing anything

Not all of them have valves.

Just talked to someone who's father was in a nursing home.  He had end stage CHF and renal disease.  Got Covid then passed away. She said his cause of death was labeled Covid even though she said his doctors said he had weeks to live at best.

What numbers were inflated? If you look at what was inflated they were making the death and hospitalization rate look much lower than it actually was by throwing in 30,000 tests that were not performed.

Some standards set by the whites house here could have gone a long way.

Jeezus....incredible.

Can you at least change your name on here? It's offensive to 'redneks' and Native Americans.

Your wokeness is lacking. Seems counter intuitive to your ideals.
