Careful, you might get a nosebleed up on that high horse of yours.

I’ve come to realize this thread is where the intellectually underprivileged hang out.

The only people who need to be tested are health care workers, the elderly, and those with underlying health conditions.  If you are young (under 50) and healthy and are taking up a test kit, crowding

This country is being bright to its knees by fear....not the virus. Recovery from getting the virus is a couple weeks. Recovery of society from this hysteria will be years.

It’s sad that about half the country still believes outlets like msnbc and cnn.  You would think after they lied everyday for 3 years about Russian collusion, people would get the hint of what their t

What are your thoughts on reparations for African-Americans?  Yay or nay?

I think reparations should be considered to be charged to slave owning families yet in America with rewards to families of such slaves.

But then the families of these slaves need to pay reparations to all the families of Union soldiers who died in the Civil War to create the free environment these slaves then were allowed.

After all, fair is fair, right?

I’m not positive but I don’t think NDSU is requiring face coverings. Not saying either approach is right or wrong, just interesting to see the differences.

EDIT:  Never mind. It looks like NDSU is requiring face coverings while in class. Not sure about all common indoor areas. The enforcement at both campuses might be interesting.

Talk about our dumpster fire. Almost half a million residents have signed up for Obamacare since the pandemic has begun, most likely due to job loss. And trump is once again trying to take that insurance away. Why not just let it burn eh?

Actually this thread should be renamed "How to kill a fan site".

What else would you like to talk about right now?  I think anyone would welcome conversation on anything else but not a whole lot going on.

Hmm.

Coronavirus infections may be 10 times higher than reported, CDC says

Quote

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimates that the number of coronavirus infections in the United States could be 10 times higher than reported, totaling over 20 million cases.

“Our best estimate right now is for every case reported, there were actually 10 other infections,” CDC Director Robert Redfield told reporters Thursday.

Redfield said the estimates came from infection surveillance and serology testing, which looks for the presence of antibodies in the blood to show if the person has been exposed to the virus. The CDC focused its early efforts on testing people who were showing symptoms of the coronavirus infection, avoiding those who were asymptomatic and unknowingly transmitting the virus.

Seems to be a theme emerging here.

Horowitz: Bombshell Penn State study shows 80 times more infections existing in March than the official count

Quote

We didn't start testing for COVID-19 until March, and testing didn't ramp up in earnest until a month or two later in most parts of the country. How many cases already existed when the panic set in during mid-March? According to a peer-reviewed study by Penn State, "the number of early COVID-19 cases in the U.S. may have been more than 80 times greater and doubled nearly twice as fast as originally believed."

Was the curve flattened, or not?

If the curve was never capable of being adequately 'flattened,' then the entire exercise was one in futility.

Wasn't the whole point of the hammer (shutting things down to flatten the curve) to get to the dance (targeted scaling back)?

It seems other countries have managed. It is what it is, when cases go up, things are going to close down.

Maybe I misunderstood the blurb I saw when this first started, something about all studied pandemics show an initial wave, and a second higher wave.  Seems like some persons, thought it would be over, not likely imho.

ND did over 4400 tests yesterday............29 new cases.

We're doing well up here.

And then you have Florida who had more new cases in one day than 12 states have reported since this started.

Hard to get an accurate measure of daily deaths when states keep dumping old deaths into the new numbers.

Especially when they never tested positive but "probably."

This could go on for a long time.

New Jersey added 1,800 deaths to their one day total and might keep adding old probably deaths to the new daily numbers.

....and that's just one state.
