Fargo city administrator, Bruce Grubb, says the city is planning for at least the 10 percent scenario—that says the river would reach 40.3 feet.

"If we over prepare, we're fine with that, we just don't want to risk underpreparing," Grubb said.

On Friday, the flood outlook raised a couple feet—previously the worst-case scenario was looking to be around 39 feet. Now, there's a five percent chance it'll get to 41.4 feet.

"The levels were raised quite substantially," Grubb said.

With a record in 2009 of just under 41 feet, the city says a lot of the work will require volunteers to operate the spiders: the machines making sandbags.

Hard to believe it's been over 20 years since the 97 flood....too bad Fargo couldn't have figured out a decent flood prevention plan in that time... hopefully they can hit their million bag goal.

They have but Minnesota blocked it, then a federal judge so it’s all politics. I guess not going under in 97 was their mistake.

The Diversion is the mistake.  Permanent diking is more then adequate to provide complete protection but in the now 10 years since the 2009 flood, Fargo still hasn't completed the dikes in town (along the river) that are required even with the diversion.  The diversion is an economic development boondoggle that continues to get more and more over budget.

Hope all holds well in Fargo, this could be a battle.

If Fargo hadn't prioritized potential south Fargo expansion over neighboring townships, they likely wouldn't be having as much trouble getting it approved as they are.

Now they have new buildings all over farm land just prime for overland flooding. They did protect people from the river with floodwalls but the overland flooding could bite them in the butt.

Sounds good. Is much sandbagging going on or necessary?

None that I'm aware of or have heard of. Typically will sandbag parts of Edgewood Golf Course at this height but not this year with social distancing.

RR is peaking soon. Barely anyone has even said anything about it.

No worries this year.

Media seems to be preoccupied with something else.

Drove over Kennedy Bridge (Hwy#2) and Point Bridge today, water coming up with lots of ice.
Sorlie Bridge (Downtown) is blocked by city from traffic, some sand bags on trucks, maybe going to put The Wall up?
Overall should be manageable.

Rain already started, turning to 4" to 6" snow next couple days. Could have an impact?

Your definitely right with the preoccupied.
