What to do in Vegas!

Recommended Posts

The countdown is on to the Vegas game this weekend.  Many of us will be heading to Sin city in the next couple days.  For me  (and maybe others) it will be my first trip to Vegas.  There are hundreds of websites telling you the "must see" activities in Las Vegas.  Obviously the Strip, Freemont St, Bellagio Fountains, etc are popular hot spots.  I can go online and find others as well, but what I am looking for is tips from those of you that have been to Vegas and give suggestions of places you gone, sites you have seen, restaurants you have eaten at....stuff like that.  Call me crazy, but I respect the opinions of most people on here and am curious of the suggestions of those of us that can help the rest of us newbies the best way to make this trip awesome.

Alright, let's hear it.  To all you Vegas veterans, let me know what I gotta check out!!

Went there in June for a bachelor party for my first time. I don’t remember what we did.

The single most important thing to tell people who have never been to Vegas before is that the entire city is an optical illusion. You're gonna think "I see that casino, I can walk there"... It is A L

I don't know if I can think of anything more overrated than In-N-Out!  Food is OK and pretty cheap but I can find a better quick burger a lot of places.

Cautionary reply:

Be smart.  Put wallets in front pocket, watch purses.  Watch the alcohol so that you aren't completely out of it.  Have someone with you when you are walking, especially if you are off the main drags.  There are many many professionals who look for tourists to steal from/scam.  I remember being on a packed dance floor at a club and getting both of my back pockets quickly touched, looking to lift my wallet.

Other than that, HAVE FUN!

Here's a few off the top of my head:

- The High Roller enclosed ferris wheel w/ open bar at The Linq for great views of the strip

- Top Golf behind MGM, fun even if you're not a big golfer

- Bellagio Conservatory & Botanical Gardens

- Secret Pizza in Cosomopolitan for drunk food

- Hash House a Go Go in Harrah's for Breakfast/Brunch

- Earl of Sandwich at Planet Hollywood for awesome cheap sandwiches

- If you're into clubs with EDM or hip hop, a ton of big names that weekend. Lil Wayne at Drais, Steve Aoki at Jewel, Martin Garrix at Omnia(personal favorite)

I'm also struggling here, haha.  No idea the names of the places I went, we just wandered the strip and ended up somewhere each day.

I second Hash House A Go Go... Get a single pancake and it'll be bigger than a pizza! Yum

YES!  You will walk a TON, both on the strip, and within the various casinos and sportsbooks.

I lived in LV for a few years . . . didn't spend a lot of time on the Strip.

It depends on if you have a car or if you're just hoofing it around the Strip.  If you have wheels, Hoover Dam is an awesome experience.

For food my favorite was The Peppermill on the north end of the Strip.  It's like crossing a 70's strip club with a Perkins (with MUCH better food).

For those from the 70-80s era or those that appreciate vintage video games, try the pinball hall of fame.  You can play all games for a quarter or fifty cents.  Its actually pretty cool and not far from the strip on Tropicana:

I always stop at the pinball hall of fame.  They have a few old school hockey themed games, one of two upright pinball games, brand new games and electromechanical classics.

I think if you asked him nice, maybe GFHockey would take you under his wing and really show you Vegas!
