NORTH DAKOTA vs. UNO

AZSIOUX

In Omaha 5x5 it wasn’t close for long stretches.  Omaha has never made the NCHC tournament and UND has never missed it.  Loser likely has their season come to an end.

This team will string us along as long as humanly possible.

UND in 3.  Sunday night hockey in this one.

I agree it will probably take three games. If we can control the penalties better we probably will be ok.

Edit: And we need Cam to play really good and for Pogo and Gersich to step it  up. Hoping we can see the playoff Kawaguchi now too.

Do you think UNO would agree to wear Penticton uniforms?

To a point, it will more likely come down to special teams. Gotta find a few PP goals and limit the stupid penalties.

Yup........and who needs your best PKer?

The UND PP looked much better for the most part this weekend.

Have to play smart.  Hands on sticks, sticks on ice.  No retaliatory penalties and absolutely NO penalties 200' from your goalie.

Keep the intensity and fire from this weekend stoked.  Make Omaha hook and grab, make them slash and cross-check you in front of their net.

And play knowing you can skate with #1 so these purple cows don't belong on the ice with you.

And score more goals than they do.

That is all.

GO SIOUX!!!

I feel the same way. If we play like we did against St. Cloud, I think we sweep.

Pretty simple, for the second straight year they are in survive and advance mode for the 1st round of the NCHC tournament.

Stating the obvious:

  • Lose - Done
  • Win in 3 - Backs very much still against the wall
  • Sweep - Wait and see, might give the team more options

Regardless, I think you'd still have to win a game in St. Paul, hopefully it'd give them a few more options with a sweep.

Do I think this UND team is pretty good? Yes. This has been a second half of if it's not one thing, it's another. For whatever reason, they can't put it completely together.

Hoping this is the weekend.

The real question, is can they win on Friday? 1-6-1 in the second half on Fridays is absolutely absurd. If they want to have any chance of making the tournament, they'll need to win one (if they move on), most likely the next two Fridays to have a shot.

What did UND in against Omaha a few weeks ago? Friday night, it was Omaha scoring on 100% of their power play opportunities. They scored 1 PP goal against Duluth last weekend. This has been a weird second half, things happening like the stat above which costs them games. If UND / UNO just hit their averages this weekend on Special Teams, I think UND has a shot to sweep. They are the better 5 on 5 team.

Stop playing to the level of the competition.

Start playing to the level of the abilities.

This team can play to the level of top 5 PWR teams (ties with DU and SCSU); it needs to play like that every shift.

They just need to learn how to hold a lead rather than relaxing.
