NORTH DAKOTA vs. denver - SATURDAY Gameday

I'll make this clear......I'm not in the Thome should start camp.  After last season everyone knew Pooly and Boeser were gone. The next 2 biggest question marks were Jost and Cam. Most thought if those 2 came back along with the cast of characters on the current roster UND would be more than solid. Jost bolts. Cam stays. No one on this site has stated Cam needs to stand on his head and steal games each series. Most figured this team would struggle offensively at times which they do often. Yet in both games this weekend, playing with a depleted lineup, Cam played decent. Did he make some really good saves both nights...absolutely but the first goal each night this weekend cost UND big time and that's the reality. He makes those 2 saves, which he should have, and this team sits in a whole different spot in the NCHC and Pairwise than they currently do. Cam IMO is the X factor from here on out due to this team's continued inconsistencies night in and night out.

Had Thome pitched game 7 instead of Darvish, the Dodgers would be World Series champions and he'd be the only pitcher to ever throw a perfect game in the last game of the World Series.

Then Kirby Smart could have pulled his QB like Nick Saban did and Thome could have been on the cover of Sports Illustrated after throwing for 16 TD passes in Georgia's win over Alabama.

It’s North Drawkota Hockey this year as the team ties for the eighth time this season.  No D1 program in the nation has more ties than UND (Holy Cross has seven).

I know draws against “better” teams can help when it comes to the Pairwise but I wonder if this is how this team is built or if it purely coincidental.  If it’s the former, might we be in for some 2ot games in the NCHC Playoffs and potetntially regionals?

Thome will be a good goalie but he is also the same guy who was overplaying shots and sliding out of position. Cam has issues as all goalies do but he has earned his playing time. Thome gave up 4 on Friday and 5 on sat in Denver. People have to have a goat , Brian Lee , people though he was worse then a bag of pucks but he had a great career in the nhl and played very well when he was here. He isn’t physical enough blah blah blah. Every year they pick one and he becomes their wipping boy. All those young men give in all for North Dakota and we should show support for all of them.

Brian Lee deserved it for how soft he was.

I think him being from Finland greatly hurts his chances of being on Team Sweden.

It is amazing that in a year that NHL guys are not playing that a kid who would be playing in the NHL this year if he had left Denver isn't on the Finland Olympic Team.

During the World Juniors, Dave Starman commented on how little used Borgström was the previous year by team Finland. Basically said Finland wasted his talents. The guy is a stud, he will be a good pro.

Are we still talking about Bill Brasky?

It's so annoying. Cam gives up 1 goal in regulation and this tie is pinned on him. It's unreal.

His team played really well in front of him and Denver had very few grade A chances....and the one he let in was ridiculous. Cam's a decent/average goalie, that's it.  Not the type of goalie that deserves to start every game no questions asked.  People keep bringing up Thomes performance at Denver......well as a Freshman he came in cold at Wisconsin and played well.  Then later at Denver he would have had a sweep if his team hadn't been on the penalty kill basically the entire 2nd game.  Meanwhile Cam let's in a softie each night AT HOME against the same Denver team that cost a win both nights.  Yeah, it's time to at least start alternating goalies at this point.

Agreed on Lee.  He was a little ahead of his time as now the lineup is full of players that play like him.

A better game from UND with the same result. Tied for 11th in the PWR with likely two non top 16 teams winning their tournaments. Could be a lot worse given the injuries. Could be better too.
