According this article, UND and SEMO were his only two offers when he graduated last year and went and played a post-grad year. Picked up offers from Oklahoma, Texas Tech, Wichita State, LSU UALR, SHSU, Cal State and Tulsa. Originally committed to Tulsa in October, reopened his recruitment and picked UND. 24/7 has him as a 4 star recruit and number 11 player in Texas.

Kudos to Coach Jones and staff. Stuck with the kid and got him over some huge names.

This is truly a great "get" - congrats to Coach Jones and his staff!

This was posted under "18-19 Recruiting".  Just so there is no confusion, it should be "17-18".

Think we can thank Trey Buchanan for getting Jal aboard as they we're both members of the Kingdom Way AAU team.

Jal's family are refugees from South Sudan so they know a blessing when they experience one and they almost certainly are not into the basketball shoe idol and culture.

The Wichita St  message board is in total shock.  Have not checked the LSU, OU or Texas Tech ones.

Indeed, Bijiek’s dimensions will make most coaches swoon. He stands 6-foot-9 with a seven-foot wingspan and tips the scales at 190 pounds. His skill and potential have captured the attention of those around Texas and some around the country — he’s considered the No. 5 overall player in Texas for the 2018 class, and a four-star recruit by 247sports.  up  two 210lbs now.....

Well, I guess he's being recruited during '17-'18, but I think the '18-'19 refers to when they come to campus.

Definitely not a big deal but all recruiting services consider the year a prospect graduates from HS or leaves a prep school/JC as the recruiting year.  Hence, all recruits being signed now are '18s.  "17" is included because the kids can actually commit/sign in '17.  Again, not a big deal!

I can't find anything on the Wichita St. board talking about this?

Another:

PG Tyreke Locure, 5'10", Des Moines (North), IA

First offer - scored 26/game as a sophomore!!  First team 4A all-state!

Has added 8 iinches to his  vertical, become more explosive and has a Drake offer. Other big schoois are considering him too.

Played at the same HS with Jal, so that might be a plus.

Wonder what changes Jones will need to make as we transition to the SL. There are various styles that have been successful in the league but watching what USD and SDSU have done recently they seem to have intentionally recruiting long athletes. Does UND adjust ? NDSU plays a much different style than the two SD schools. Will be curious to see which Jones will lean toward.

FWIW, Most of the Iowa kids UND has taken or offered have had only walk-on interest from the South Dakota schools. Of course, the best player in the league, Daum, was not heavily recruited either.
