Minnesota lost a recruit Mitch Hults to Lake Superior State University. Sounds like he was gonna be a walk-on at Minnesota but LSSU offered some sort of scholarship so he decided to reconsider. There's lliterally not a single program in the WCHA that will have more success than Minnesota, Michigan, or Wisconsin over the next years, not one. Heck I bet Penn State has a better chance at long term success than every team in the WCHA. Maybe Mankato can sustain this recent success with Hastings, maybe. But generally it's a conference made up entirely of average to bad programs who are good once every ten years. This past year they were a good conference but it was clearly an anomaly. Goalie Lindgren is the only thing that kept SCSU from getting blown out. Then it came down to bounces and SCSU won the game on a lost edge by the D-man. That's why they were so good last year(2013-2014) after losing Schmidt, Alt, Haula, Bjugstad, and Budish the year before. For some reason when the Gophers return most of the team they tend to under perform. It's like they forget how hard they had to work the prior year to get where they did. This past season is a perfect example of this. A large freshman class, especially when some play a prominent role seems to be a nice infusion of not just talent but players who are very motivated to proves themselves.
