Students kicked out

I saw today that Blais is like .500 overall in maybe 5 seasons at Neb-Omaha (although he did win 2 natties prior to that at UND), while Sanderlin is maybe the same overall or even less in 15 or so seasons at Duluth BUT he did grab the 1 natty in 2011 even though most recognize the Sioux were no doubt the best team in the land that season based upon a full season's sample (the true test). So, don't fire the UND Pres, instead fire Hakstol for his "mediocre" teams over the last 11 seasons and bring in Blais, Sanderlin, Eaves (he also got a natty in '06 I believe but not thinking he will this year, just a hunch),...whoever!

Bet we (students) get an email from Kelley talking about how disappointed he is int he student body (much like the siouxper drunk thing last year) or an REA one threatening any future activity like that with a possible ban/removal of ticket rights.

Ill bet on the former rather than the latter.

I'm a student as well, and for what it's worth I think the "Siouxper Drunk" shirts were trashy. They should've thought that one through. As far as the sign, I saw it as student frustration, which is fine. I'd like to see President Kelley let it go. Great weekend of ND hockey!

This^^^=awesomeness! Also the student section chanting "Sioux Forever!" after the senior presentation rocked. So much for those on here that say the students want to move on from the nickname issue.

Cue the apology walk down University Avenue on Monday morning...

So would that sign be considered policitcal, derogatory or obsene? I am not seeing how it was any of those. It was up for a total of about 5 seconds and security had it down - how was it determined in that short amount of time? Why did the student's deserve to be escorted from the building? Was the reason for the sign Kelly's stance on the nickname or do student's have other issues with him?

Kind of off topic but any chance the players will catch any flak over the Fighting Sioux hats that they wore for their senior tribute?

No. I thought it was an awesome gesture for the last group of seniors who got to wear the best name and logo in college sports.

As the team left the ice after winning the 2012 WCHA Final Five, I thought to myself, "remember this game because it's the last time you'll ever see that jersey on the ice." I think it's cool that this year's seniors wore a cap in tribute to the legacy of the Fighting Sioux nickname and logo. They may not wear that crest on their jersey chest anymore, but the NCAA can't pry that iconic image out of those 7 hearts. Well done, seniors.

To the students and fans who dared to chant last night and defy a university president who openly voices his disdain at anyone who says "Sioux" around his section, my hats off to you.

SIOUX FOREVER!

^^^^^^^^ This.  Well written.

I think you guys overstate Kelley's give-a-damn when it comes to the name. He will be gone and soon and never think about it again. He had no choice and wasn't hired to fight the NCAA for years and years while allowing it to hang over campus like a black cloud.

Cant imagine many campus presidents that wouldnt have done the same thing.

And I can't imagine the president of, say, Marquette University, standing up during a basketball game and essentially scolding a fan for yelling "Let's Go Warriors."

When did that happen..did you hear it? No matter what President was hired, the first agenda was the name was gone. Kelley happened to be the guy.
