I am merely pointing out that this philosophy explains a lot of why our country is in the current state it is. This country's problems are the result of big business and corporations wanting more and more and more of everything; and at the same time refusing to help pay for anything. So the burden falls on the rest of us who can't hide our income in off-shore tax shelters and slip thru tax loopholes. It's easy to blame immigrants (who have little or no power or influence) instead of targeting the real culprits (who unfortunately have lots of power and influence and know how to use it). And I don't know if I would call assistance by a private, non-profit charity a "handout". If you want to see a real example of "handouts", just look at a corporate balance sheet; lots of tax breaks and other goodies on there. I thought people here said the government pays LSS money. Don't they even get housing assistance? All I'm saying is those "older immigrants" fought hard to get here. The newer immigrants not so much. Detroit has major crime problem due to most of its crime being perpetrated by non-whites. I could claim you are racist for comparing crime in Detroit to Fargo's increase in crime due to the large influx of non-whites in this area. But you being female and a minority obviously give you as pass in everything and all things "racist". BTW I bet with someone here as to how long it would take you to throw out the term "racist". I grew up in an area in the inner city that was a safe, family oriented area of the hardest working blue collar workers anywhere in the country. It too changed for the worse but Detroit, for me, has always been 'the bad place". I've spent lots of time in Detroit and never had a problem anywhere.
