Pitt has added women’s lacrosse for 2022.  Why report it here?

https://pittsburghpanthers.com/news/2018/11/1/general-pitt-athletics-to-add-varsity-womens-lacrosse.aspx

The addition of a women’s sport leaves open the Title IX possibility to start a men’s hockey team.  A feasibility study of hockey has been rumored previously.  Arizona St added women’s lax and triathlon to remedy its Title IX situation with men’s hockey.

Oakland U may be looking at football in addition to hockey.  But with it negotiating to buy the Palace at Auburn Hills, hockey may be much closer to reality.  Oakland U has grown a lot (new med school, law school and research) after being given its independence from Mich St, and the now with an enrollment of 20k.

With Green Bay looking at football too, is a Horizon League or midwest non scholarship league possible?  Valpo and  Drake MVC members), Dayton (A10),Augustana (DII now),  Green Bay, Oakland and other Horizon League schools?

Northern Illinois and six other Illinois area colleges are moving to ACHA DI.  NIU could be a possible NCAA DI school with that USHL arena in the county closer to Chicago.  NIU has sucked forever in mbb, so they need something.

Strange all the elevations of club hockey in the west.

Bakersfield starting a club team.  Rabobank Arena already hosts a minor league team.

Oh man, I hope there isn't some clause in the MAC where 6 teams creates a new conference automatically like there was with the Big 10.  We'd still be a couple teams away, but man that would suck.

That's a horrible idea for an active shooter. The only way to stop one, harden your campus and have a good guy or gal with a gun.

At UND, you could make it work by also having a 90 flex Bauer stick and a regulation goal in every classroom and kindly asking the shooter to stand just outside of the net. #scoringwoes

You could hit them with the stick. My slap shot isn’t real accurate. ;)

.@pac12 Commissioner Larry Scott says that while he would not predict that the conference adds ice hockey in the next 5 years, he is in active discussions with NHL ownership groups and teams about the sport, & expects growth in the future. ASU is ranked #19 in the country #sbjiaf

This is interesting.

The AD for Illinois was at the Penn State - Michigan State game over the weekend.

Champaign hasn’t started on its downtown arena/hotel/convention center/apartments yet, but it’s getting closer.

So Kansas City’s Arrowhead Stadium may host a future Frozen Four?  The FF was hosted by Detroit in a domed football stadium, but with KC’s weather of spring thunderstorms and even tornado warnings, that seems incredibly irresponsible.

I think it's asinine that some teams play regular season conference games outdoors with points on the line. I can't imagine the Frozen Four, a national championship, could be hosted outdoors.:huh:

It did not say anything about hosting a Frozen Four at Arrowhead Stadium, it said Kansas City could host a Forzen Four. As in the City of Kansas City at the Sprint Center or what ever the arena is call.

100% chance they announce it this spring, IMO.  With the amount of work they have put into the new arena project and the outspokenness of their AD or President since the NHL sponsored study, I can't see this not happening.  And the more teams the better.  Tons of parity in college hockey, and maybe more teams can help UND separate themselves from the pack again, as talent gets diluted across more teams.
