Hardee Placed on Leave

He couldn't have a breathalyzer or blood test because he drove off. So I guess the moral of the story is, if you are drunk and run into to somebody, just leave and sober up. You may be charged with hit and run, but at least you won't get a DUI. Since he left the scene, it should only take the testimony of anybody with him at the time of the incident that he appeared intoxicated to be able to charge him with DUI.

By the way, did he drive from Fargo to Grand Forks when they got off the plane? By then, the other coaches had to have known what had happened and never should have let him drive.

What is your point? Do you think he drank on the plane? My God. You are concerned about Fargo to GF? By then the damage was done and everybody just wanted to get back and let things play out. You are right, the worst part of this situation was that Hardee might have driven sober from Fargo to GF.

If had had been drinking until 2:00 am (or all night as far as we know) and they got back to Fargo by early pm, he was more than likely not sober yet. If he was still obviously visibly intoxicated driving to the airport, If your system can get rid of .01 alcohol an hour, and he was at .20 (just a guess but he is apparently an experienced drinker and it would take a lot of alcohol to make an experienced drinker appear obviously drunk), he would still be considered drunk after the flight.

Did you guys even read the police blogger?! A player said he appeared obviously intoxicated and that other coaches had to go wake him up.

Appeared intoxicated? C'mon CAS, you know that's worthless in the criminal world. All that counts is BAL or breathalyzer.

Now in the employment world on a "last chance" in a right to work state any screw up (moving violation) is enough.

Quite the string of assumptions there. Impressive.

How about: on a last chance, moving violation, gone.

to throw a wrench into the process, there is not a job posting for the volleyball coaching position yet. only the football coach.

Is this a case where it may be posted internally for a period of time before posted externally? In the case of the football coach, it likely wasn't seen as there being any internal candidates. May not be the case for volleyball.

This dimwit wants to rip up the policy manual and start over before UND gets to the business of hiring a new coach. :silly::crazy:

I think you misunderstand the editorial. They're not talking about the hiring process, they're talking about the investigation process. With Hardee's resignation, it would be easy to brush the half-completed investigation under the rug and forget about it. The Herald is saying that the investigation over what happened should continue to its conclusion even while the hiring of a new coach is in progress or after the new coach is on the job if necessary..

It’s understandable if UND wants to get beyond volleyball coach Ashley Hardee’s resignation and move on.

But that mustn’t happen — at least not before an investigation has been completed, the university has reconsidered key policies, and the findings and any policy changes have been announced. Then and only then can the school and its sports program get back to business as usual.

I agree with what you are saying, but I would constitute "business as usual" to consist of among other things, filling a head coaching vacancy at this point in time.

Best of luck to Ashley Hardee.  Appears he has gotten his personal issues resolved.  Didn't realize he had gotten a beach volleyball position at UAB.

That is good to hear. I hate to see people struggle with alcohol and/or drugs. Good luck Coach Hardee.
