I've probably posted this before, but now is the time that GF needs to work with BNSF to move the railroad yards.

A new yard can be west to town and double as an extension of the industrial park.   Companies are looking for space now, and railroad access is often a must.  Williston, Minot, and Bismarck are building huge RR yards and to my knowledge they are paying off big for those cities.  ND has a growing and pent up demand for manufacturing space with RR access.

BNSF or a developed could make a fortune redeveloping the land for other purposes:  condos, apartments, or even selling land to UND.  Leave two or three tracks for current businesses and for access to current RRs.

A quick two notes:

I didn't have time to watch all the videos, GOBC? GO Back to College?

Rail to build is just over $1mm per mile land not included. Average good size yard is 100+ acres now and has 15-25 miles of track. New yard, not gonna happen. Superfund is right because nothing can be done there until clean up

The good ole boys club that runs Grand Forks. They are so faux powerful that they allow a 20 something roughneck to be a part of the group. They are also somewhat up on technology, as they allow the guzzler of Keystone Light to "attend" their Monday meetings at the "t stop" via FaceTime or Skype (haven't you heard of those things?) "tha rn dis twn"

Didn't see in the Herald that the mill has a $20 mill expansion. Will be one of the bigger mills in the country. That would have been front page news before UAVs and Bakken oil.

Interesting source :)

Groundbreaking for the new $25 mill Robin Hall occurred on campus this weekend.  Robin Hall will have a soaring glass tower, which will be the focal point of the west campus, and will be a UAS and aerospace research center.  The main benefactors of the building, Si Robin and Mary Bazar, run a California based aerospace antenna company and are not  alumni to my knowledge.  Quite a gift.

Here's a video:

Si Robin is quite an acclaimed inventor in the aerospace world and is from Quebec.
