Because it would probably REALLY piss off the people that wanted us to get rid of the Sioux name. It should be the same trophy just replaced with the modern Bison logo on one side and the Fighting Hawk logo on the other. That works except what made the Nickle trophy special was that at one time there was an actual US coin with a bison on one side and a native american on the other so it does lose some of its uniqueness - still a coin works and perhaps the schools could mint a smaller version as something we could buy. The original will never be able to be replicated, but keeping the nickel even if it’s different would still have some historical significance. Making up some new thing will have zero significance and will be forced. Sure 20 years down the road it may mean something if they come up with something new, but I think a newer version of nickel is a good option.
