Vaccine is 95% effective.  For 5%, I can spend 30 seconds getting tested.

OK I see what you’re saying.

but if that’s going to be the approach, what is the endgame?  Will they ever open up nursing homes entirely again, for example?  Just today I got word that they’re shutting down the nursing home where my father is because one staff member tested positive this morning.
so it’s a Happy effing Easter to anyone who wanted to go visit their family member on Sunday

So UND got news last week of a positive test. SU gets news of a positive hours before game time. They played each other days before the testing. Wouldn't SU have to quarantine then also and cancel game because of it this week? The NDSU/SDSU game is still on isn't it?

Considering all the holding they did in our game against them, I would think ndsu’s entire offensive line should’ve been considered close contacts.

Time for the annual we aren't there so put in the rankings of who I want to win in order.....sigh.....

    1. Mankato.  Hastings gets so much out of his teams.  Glad they finally got a team to a F4.  Guy deserves it.

    2. SCSU.  I guess here because it wouldn't be the worst thing in the world if they finally got one.  Keeps the title in the NCHC.

    3. No school qualifies.

    4. UMass.  Playing for the hopes and dreams off all the Eastern hockey people.  They can beat Duluth, and then not win the championship.

4b. Duluth.  Maybe I should start cheering for them to win.  At some point a bad bounce has to go against them in the postseason right?  Hah, wrong.....

I agree for the most part.  But I might put COVID at 4b, then Duluth at 4c.

Once again, first half was in old Decc which was a pit.  A true examination of Sandelins career should start once the Amsoil opened up.  Sandelin trying to recruit to old Decc is apples to oranges when compared to UND coaches Hak and Berry getting to recruit to the Taj Mahal their entire careers.

    For the Sandy lovers...

Many of the players entering the transfer Portal are playing music chairs.  Some will not find chairs.  Last year was a good year for players in the portal.  This year will be a great year for the portal.

Next year I’m betting on Portal University making a big run in the tournament.

Is it a conscious decision on your part to make up a phantom opposing argument to fit something you can refute or aren’t you able to control it?

I blocked you for a reason a couple of years back, should’ve trusted my previous judgement. Won’t happen again.

If you don’t mean what you type, then don’t type it. Simple as that. I made nothing up. I just responded directly to your statements.

But I’m not a current player or a parent of a current player so how would I remember it?

Because you’re the only person of the opinion that 50 years from now this year’s winners should be reminded they aren’t legitimate champs.

My point is I didn’t realize I was discussing the significance of an historic football season in the annals of history with some folks who aren’t actually fans of FCS football. If we took a poll of this forum and people who got introduced to UND football 50+ years ago and have been lifelong fans as a result of those early experiences, my bet would be many people would remember the late 60’s and early 70’s seasons. Yet we have a “fan” who thinks this season won’t be remembered by anyone other than “the players and their parents”

From the sounds of it you’re going to be the douche canoe at their 50th anniversary party pointing out to a bunch of 70 year olds that their championship should have an asterisk.

Having fans like you is the reason why people say UND is a hockey school. Constantly downplaying football and in its significance at the FCS level. Sure it isn’t Ohio state vs Alabama, but if you’re a fan it means something to you and you’ll remember.People care, you might not, but people care. 50 years isn’t that long, 1971 season isn’t that long ago, I’m sure many on this board remember games from the 60s-70s.

You get an A for changing the subject and making up crap. Well done.

Well, then you’d be quite wrong.

I’ve said it on many other threads and I’ll say it here as well, I don’t care who wins this season, NDSU or anybody else, you’re crazy if you think in 50 years when people look at the schedules and the timing of this season they won’t put an asterisk by all of it. The champion this year will likely only have won 10-11 games total vs 15-16.

You think what you want, but history will absolutely be putting an asterisk on the “2020” FCS season.

As usual you conflate two arguments to make your point seem relevant. I never said people are complaining about past champions, simply that there is a clear conversation that gets had every time certain years get brought up. Every NFL fan on the planet knows the 1987 season had replacement players and that season is completely different than others and that didn’t have nearly the impact that this years FCS season has as only a few games were effected. We have teams completely opting out of the season, we have significant impact players who would have been on the squads normally(fall season) not playing this spring.

This season’s champion will on paper be a championship like any other, but FCS fans will always look at this championship differently, especially if a very unexpected team ends up winning the title.

    What argument am I “conflating?”
I’m just responding to your statements, which I happen to think are ridiculous.

No one other than the winning team and their families are going to remember, let alone care who won the spring 2021 FCS title 50 years from now.

    You’re  usually good at sarcasm.

You must've missed his "50 years from now" comment a ways back.  He evidently believes generations from now people will be talking about the 2021 spring FCS title winners with contempt.

    You’d be a wealthy man.

    Actually, I’d have zero nickels.

You are delusional if you think anyone is complaining about the legitimacy of the 1918 ncaa football title.

  14. 5 hours ago, Bison06 said:

This is a ridiculous standard. The NCAA would never put an asterisk on their own championship.

We’ll just have to agree to disagree on this one.

The NCAA never even officially put an asterisk on the 1918 season. Check out the records for that year.

If I had a nickel for every time I heard someone complain about the legitimacy of the 1918 NCAA football champions...

Maybe it comes down to what peoples definition of an asterisk is I suppose. A “not normal” season for me is an asterisk. It doesnt fully delegitimize the championship for the winner, but I do believe history will see the 2020 champion as slightly lesser than given the circumstances.

As i mentioned, it doesn't matter what a person's opinion is; it's up to the NCAA.  If it were based on personal opinion, there's a couple of recent championships that i would certainly put an asterisk next to.  But it's not up to me.
