  1. I re-watched the hit on Robbie on my Tivo and Don Adam seen everything the camera angle from MSC/FoxN does not lie!! ???  ???  ???

Adam should resign before another player from the league is hurt!!! ;)

And what gives??? Daddy's little boy does the Gopher game??

Derek is still not going to be picked to do any NCAA's Greg, So get over it! he blew it when he did such a horse-sh** job in Grand Forks! When the Big Boy's from the NCAA's were here they seen how crappy he was!! :0

    End rant....

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Resign? He should be fired. If that wasn't a five minute major, then the Sioux should "foil up" against the gophers. Evidently, anything goes.

  2. Even if the Gophers lose to CC, they'll wind up being a number 1 seed in the NCAAs. They probably have less to play for than any other team in the final five because they're at home for the regionals as a highly likely #1 seed. The Badgers have the most to lose. If the Sioux win tomorrow, Wisconsin is probably out of the tournament. If the Sioux win 2-3 games in the final five, they would then have a legitimate shot at a #2 seed which could put them in the Mpls regional.

  3. I'd take Peluso over Prpich any day. I like Mike, but he isn't contributing on the scoresheet like he should. If Peluso were a Sioux, the whole flow of this board would be at his defense and our record would be improved by 2 or 3 wins and wouldn't be playing the play-in game at the Final Five. Is he cheap, yes. Is he a goon, no. That being said, I'm OK with Prpich bitch-slapping Earl all over the ice on Thursday night.

Also, you can't lable Matt Greene a goon either. Anyone ever see someone attempt to fight him? Even at universities with low academic performance for athletes like SCSU and Mn, nobody's stupid enough to try.

  4. OMG!! A vote!! I feel validated again!! Somebody in there loves me! :D

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

The USCHO question of the week should make you happy as nearly 30% of the poll think the Dogs will upset the Sioux this weekend.

Hope they're the same people that think Minnesota is a #6 team nationally....

Which road team is most likely to upset their hosts in their playoff series this coming weekend?

    29%

Minnesota-Duluth will upset North Dakota (WCHA)

    17%

Mass.-Lowell will upset Maine (Hockey East)

    16%

    Dartmouth will upset Vermont (ECAC)

    10%

    Alaska-Anchorage will upset Wisconsin (WCHA)

    10%

Miami will upset Michigan State (CCHA)

    8%

Northeastern will upset New Hampshire (Hockey East)

    4%

Alaska-Fairbanks will upset Bowling Green (CCHA)

    4%

    Brown will upset Colgate (ECAC)

    2%

    I don't know / No opinion.

    Total votes: 4765

  5. If you think Parise got mugged in the WCHA wait until you see what happens to a  little waif like Kessel.  Parise was stocky and tough so he could take a licking and keep on ticking.  Kessel looks very good in patty-cake hockey like the game with the Swedes but we'll see what happens to Kessel's game when the going truly gets tough.  I don't believe he will be the impact player in the WCHA that everyone is expecting.

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

hopefully Kessel will end his college career the same as Parise......zero national championships

  6. I'll toss out a few more reasons why the house wasn't packed on Sunday. The Sioux are at .500 in the WCHA, not far above .500 in their overall record, out of contention for the league title and on the bubble to make the NCAA playoffs. On top of that, the Sioux have no viable Hobey Baker candidtate, the team hasn't been lighting up the scoreboard and it can often be very frustrating to watch.

The way this season has gone, I'm not surprised by a drop in attendance.

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

I drove from Fargo both Sat & Sun. No problem with road conditions Sat, but Sunday was an adventure. However, I totally agree with PCM's take on this. A low scoring .500 team is frustrating to watch.

Anybody notice that Porter rarely has any of his shots on net? Even when it's an open net. Now that's frustrating!

  7. Does anyone know of any Bar/Grill in the Fargo Moorhead area that has Sioux hockey on their TV's ? Nothing better than watching hockey and eating wings or nachos (Except maybe watching hockey and drinking beer, but I don't drink so..). And also, will the Siouxnetwork on channel 44 of cable subscribers in Fargo, be showing the games this weekend ? I'm going to try and get up to the Ralph on Saturday night, and I would really like to hear some people making some noise. Go Sioux !!!

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Should be on dish FSN and on local cable 44. Try Buffalo Wild Wings. Lots of big screens and smoke free. I'd invite you over to watch it on my big screen but I'll be at the game!

  8. Start Jake at home against Wisco.  If we win, Hak is the genius.  If we lose, most of us expected it anyway.  F**k it.

FWIW, my glass has been "half empty" for a few months now.  What do we have to lose?

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

100% agree. Besides if we had solid goaltending this year, don't you suppose we would have posted a shutout by now? Even Briggs has 3 against quality opponents for a Mn squad that was projected to be weak on defense. IMHO Brandt has been the only goalie that has been capable of a shutout since Karl left. Parise has 2 shutouts against Mich Tech and Holy Cross, but almost always lets in a soft goal or does something stupid to get out of position at the wrong time. Heck, Mark Ranfranz has 2 shutouts for crying out load. I think in time Lammy will be pretty good, but on Sat night he wouldn't have stopped a beachball in the 3rd period.

  9. While I like the old Sioux/Blackhawk jersey, I wouldn't want to go back to that because I always saw it as a copy of the Chicago uniform.  For those that want to see the tomahawk shoulder logo come back, do you think that would really help UND regarding the amount of flack it already takes for having a Native American nickname?  I don't think the tomahawk promotes the kind of image that UND wants associated with the use of the Sioux name.

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Of course it would not help, but it wouldn't hurt either. If you think a tomahawk promotes a negative image of UND, then so does the adjective "Fighting" preceeding Sioux. I suspect you are not in agreement with the Sioux heritage as being that of warriors then either. A message that is broadcast at every Sioux game. Being native american myself, I'm extremely proud of our logo and any emphasis of it. This issue isn't going away any time soon, tomahawk or not......

  10. The Murray article indicated he would be playing with a shoulder harness. Anyone know how this would/may impede his mobility and/or ability to shoot the puck with any velocity?

  11. If I remember right, didn't the Gophies all  get perms last year in a show of team unity?  With that history, I'd have figured they would have all got manicures this year.

Hair, no hair, they still suck.

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Manicures would be nice, but perhaps they should try a good ole fashion Butt waxing instead. May be more appropriate.

  12. Moorhead played their 4th line a lot, plus filled in some shifts with JV players. Deitz and Nitzkorski would each have been near the top scorers if they played in ND - they are very good sophomores, not much of a difference between them and Christian IMO.

The goal by Lee at the end of the game came after Monticello called a TO :0 Why they called TO when they were down 14-0 with 40 seconds left is beyond me.

Monticello is much better than they were last year, but Moorhead really layed off. They let Fisher and Lee get their hatricks (I think firsts for each this year), and let the 10th graders score, but the rest of the team spent most of the time playing keep away. Of course this is just from listening to the game and from what some family members said, so anyone actually at the game probably has a better opinion than me.

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Not sure but I think Lee had a hattrick in the first game of the season. Also, I was at the game and Ammerman reminded me alot of Keith Ballard with his style. Forgive me for not keeping up on the recruiting status, but does anyone know where he's committed to? My guess is Duluth.

  13. INCH'S system does not mean a thing, the pairwise is the real deal...herse the real rankings as of now....

    16t Michigan State

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

You have to remember to factor in the bonus (which is kept confidential). Those 2 wins against Maine on the road are huge if they stay in the top fifteen. Plus the WCHA has the edge on all other conferences because of their non-conf record. Of course lots can happen but the key is to sweep Wisconsin, hope for SCSU to get a win against Mn, then have UND sweep St. Cloud. Losing a road game to AA won't hurt them if this happens, nor will losing to a ranked WCHA team in the Final Five. If you're looking for teams other than the Sioux to root for, try Maine, Canisius, SCSU and Bemidji State.

  14. I'm not sure but I believe the first tie breaker would be conference wins.

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

The Sioux would then win the tiebreaker. 16 wins for UND to 15 for MN & WI.

Wow, 3rd place without having to play the play-in game at the Final Five. All of the sudden things appear much clearer now that I've donned my rose colored glasses.

  15. I know this is a huge long shot, but if Wisconsin loses 5 of 6 and we win all six games remaining, we could tie them.  They have a tough schedule.  I know the chances of this happening aren't very good, but if they get swept this weekend and we sweep AA, next weekend could be really interesting.

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

A long shot indeed. But since we're grasping for straws, it would then become conceivable for Minnesota to continue their slide and result in a potential 3-way tie for 3rd between UND, Mn, and Wi...........Anyone know the tiebreakers?

  16. I thought Bradford was the most skilled player on the ice.  He is very fast and good with the puck - his only downside is his size - he looked about 5-7.

Gorowsky looked good, and I would agree the Vokes line was the best - they actually passed the puck around.

Carlson also looked very good, his goal was one of the hardest wrist shots I've seen - very Bochenski-ish.

One of the Hanson brothers' kid was on the white team - how cool would growing up in that house be?  I wonder if his dad taught him to use the foil at an early age?

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

I sat with the father of Lincoln's goalie (Jordan Pearce) (he's also my fishing buddy in Alaska). He said the Hanson kid really likes to pound people and was playing somewhat reserved last night (Expected since it was an All Star game). Normally the elbows would be flying. Both are going to Notre Dame next fall. It will interesting to track their progress in D1.

  17. I enjoy posts like Sioux-per's.  Team has lost some close games and also made some bad decisions and suddenly, whoops!  Fire him.

Good thing people like that don't run Bellichek's life.  Anyone remember that?  Oh.  Yeah.  He started in Cleveland I think?  And now he's won 4 super bowls.  God how did that happen?  Bellichek SUCKED in his first year as a head coach!  Things like that just don't happen.

Hey, how about George Seifert?  When he took over for Walsh, the Steve Young led 49ers went, what, 1-15?  Why didn't they fire him?  OH that's right.  New coach, new system.  Took them a year to adapt.  And now Young is in the hall of fame.

Ok ok.  THat's football.  How about hockey?

1967-68 season, St. Louis hired this Scotty Bowman guy.  Gosh.  They only went 23-21-14!  Why didn't they fire him?  I mean, they BARELY escaped 500 hockey!

Not good enough?  Ok, how about 4 time Stanley Cup winning coach Glenn Sather?

Who was the idiot that decided to keep this idiot coach on board after his pathetic first season as ah ead coach of the Oilers?  I mean, 28-39-13?  ARE YOU KIDDING ME?  He sucks!

That's why I like Sioux-per and BDB's logic.  Hakstol, like Sather, Seifert, Bellichek, and Bowman, should have been fired after their first seasons as head coach.  They are a disgrace for their sport and they should all be banished from our thoughts.

Oh yeah,  Dean Blais sucks too.  He only was good enough to take a UND team to 18-18-3 his first year.  Heck!  He sucked his second year!  19-18-1!  What the hell did we see in this guy?  ???

Who knows what Hakstol is going to turn out to be.  But like hell am I going to say that he doesn't deserve the chance to get things going.  He's done a pretty darn good job of recruiting so far, even when Blais has been Head Coach.

Moral:  Uh, if 3 years go by without results, THEN we START wondering how long Hakstol's job is going to last.  This year and next year?  Nope.  Barring major catastrophe, BDB and SIouxper are just going to have to cry it out.

    END RANT

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

I also feel Greg Shepperd does a nice job

  18. I was at the game and felt the best player on the ice was Gorowsky. He'll contribute immediately at Wisconsin. Bradford won the MVP but I don't know why. Wheeler just floated around the rink waiting for a mistake to happen or a lucky bounce. He finally realized he needed to move his feet to make things happen and started to play in the latter half of the 3rd period. Several of the players had really good speed. Too bad none of them are Sioux recruits. In fact, none of the USHL All Stars are.

  19. The Sioux have already won their last game. That was against the powerhouse Bemidji State. They'll be on the road for the WCHA playoffs in either Duluth or Minneapolis and end the season 15-20-3 after being ranked #1 in the country while utilizing their last excuse "the sun was in my eyes".

The firing of "Hack-stool" should follow shortly thereafter.....hopefully.
