Why do I think many are going to wish Carter Randklev was in a UND sweater after this weekend?

Probably the second biggest story line this weekend - after seeing how our transfers fit.  Carter was on his way to playing at UND until his injury with the Fargo Force.  Having a Moorhead boy back in the area should bring in a couple orange sweaters, too.

I got mine on Monday. Mailed to my home in a large REA Ticket Office envelope.

We did, too.  Moved us back from row B to D, but still in the same section, just further off the aisle.  I'll take it - LIVE FOOTBALL!

  3. So, this popped up in my Facebook Memories today.  This was the view 5 years ago for everyone walking out past the Bobby Orr statue in Boston:

MN GBB tournaments started and played yesterday.....just cancelled the rest of the tournaments.  Unbelievable.  WTF changed in 24 hours in MN?

When does the shoe drop that ALL HS activities in this country thru the rest of the school year get cancelled?

    Or all school in general?

  5. Warm weather destinations are best, IMHO.  Virtually everyone is traveling to get to the FF, so distance isn't an issue for many of the attendees (plus, most come from cold weather areas).  You might miss out on some local bumps like Notre Dame provided in Chicago for their 1 game, but a big chunk of the crowd shows up whether their school is there or not.

My ranking the last five locations (we attend every year)

    1. Tampa - it's not close. This was such a good location that it wins even though I got food poisoning the first night in town.
    2. St. Paul - breaks my "warm weather' preference, but the city really puts out the welcome mat for the crowd
    3. Boston - weather was crap for part of the tourney, but the history and number of things to do is great. Also, you can get everywhere using all public transport without needing rental cars, uber, etc.
    4. Chicago - the arena sucks and there was nothing to do immediately surrounding it, but the city itself has a lot to offer
    5. Buffalo - I may skip another FF held there. The arena was fine, but the rest of the town left so much to be desired.  Probably the least fun I've had at a FF.
  6. With the new CCHA, I'm really curious what will happen to the two Alaska schools and UAH.  All 3 are outliers for travel and now without a conference.  Also, with lack of competitiveness/money/attendance in recent history, they're not going to have conferences banging on their doors with invites to join.  Drop to DIII?  Drop the program all together?

If there's been news on this, I've missed it...

I know there is a better way to link to this than copying, but here you go--from the Herald:

Adieu, Frenchy: Frenchy Lacrosse, 83, provided hangout, support to GF fans and athletes

Ralph Engelstad and hockey brought Hubert Jean "Frenchy" Lacrosse to Grand Forks in 1952. He was playing hockey for the San Bernardino (Calif.) Shamrocks, meeting ex-UND hockey players including Engelstad, who convinced him to come to UND to play...

I just read this article on Saturday afternoon.  Wife and I were at Judy's prior to Saturday's game and there was a customer wearing an old Frenchy's jacket, looked to be from the 1980's.  Prompted us to look up what happened to that place and the mugs. Seeing it brought up again today is quite the coincidence!
