Why would one of the top conferences add Rutgers then? What were they good at athletically?
That's what Don Imus was wondering.

Where NOT to eat in Grand Forks.
Any iteration of "Bigfoot" or any other establishment owned/operated by that guy. Absconding with a $2k wedding deposit is beyond sleazy. Grand Forks is waaaaaaay too small to conduct business that way.

Whitman. Price. Haddad. Last season’s winners.
No…last season’s losers.

No, no, no. One rib.
One rib?

Get the skyway across 2nd Ave N built and soon you'll be able to walk from the south end zone of the Pollard Center, through the Hawkway, to Memorial Village, across 2nd, across Columbia, to the Swanson ramp, into Swanson, into the new Union ... and never be outdoors* ... and what's the Union connected to now that I'm forgetting.
*OK, in the ramp you might be ...
IIRC, the third floor breezeway in the garage is climate controlled, or at least walled/windowed off from the parking area itself.

Curiously, UND severed the link between the old Union and McCannell and deliberately did not re-connect the two, and then missed a golden opportunity to incorporate a connector from the old Union to points west in the remodel of the law school. Then, the library was remodeled and connected to the brand new Nistler business school, which was also connected to Merrifield.
Hopefully, the new Union was designed with a skyway in mind, and the law school can be retrofitted as well.
All this to say, we were just a couple of missed/overlooked strategic decisions away from having a seamless, all-season walkway from Twamley to Merrifield, Nistler, Chester Fritz Library, Law School, Memorial Union, McCannell, Abbott, O'Kelly, Swanson, and the parking garage.

Per their Facebook, ix-nay ita-Pay it-Pay.
Last few days...head over there soon!
RIP variety in Grand Forks. Guessing that Pepper Jax would have suffered the same fate, if it been allowed to be built. #stillsourgrapes

Erbert & Gerbert goes kaperbut. Sure won't miss that drive thru with the impossible 90 degree exit, but sandwich alternatives to Subway and JJ are always welcome.
Northend Burger King also gonzo. Meh on that one, and there are still a couple other stores in town for your Whopper or chicken fries fix.

Proof or I'm skeptical.
This is what's gonna drag people (or programs) into the muck with the NCAA, or with whatever state or local body has the power to enforce the relevant laws/rules. Arguably, the entire premise underlying NIL was that one's name, image, and/or likeness would have some value BEFORE money starts getting thrown around. Giving blanket or flat sums to recruits before they've set foot on campus - save for the occasional blue chip superstar - is almost certainly going to raise eyebrows.
Sham NIL deals hiding pay-to-play setups may be hard to prove, but probably not impossible.

They're going to have to fix that soon. You could lose a good sized dog in those pot hoes.
I presume that pot hoes are the more mellow counterparts to their crack and meth sisters.

Their new “arena” opened today
Marble floors and roasted almonds or GTFO.
Or, maybe just somewhere on the concourse for fans to get a...byte.

Reason(s) to believe that this is not the new normal? That the Big Ten won't go on an NCHC-like run well into the future?

Well, we're scoring goals in Allentown
The Big Ten's closing all the other leagues down
Like in bantams, there ought to be running time
Opponent goalie stats, used to be fineWell, the Big Ten's never won it before
Usually finding shameful ways out the door
But now they're having their big day
Rolling at the dance, winning by eightAnd we're scoring goals in Allentown
'Cause the competition was just beat down
And it's getting very hard to watch
Well, we're scoring goals in Allentown
Even Penn State made the next round
For the promises our brackets gave
If we worked hard, chose the right games
So the tourney banners will soon hang on Ivy walls
But they really just remind fans of the big falls
The Big Ten taught us they were for realClobbering all, made the fans squeal
And we're scoring goals in Allentown
Less competitive games could never be found
Even the Sioux fans crawled away
Every team had a pretty good shot
To get at least as far as St. Cloud got
But something happened
On the way to Tampa Bay
They threw a Big Ten logo in our face- 8

If your team is blowing Harvard out of the rink, at what point does the "Staht the cah, staht the cah!" chant begin?
-
ESPN waits until 6-love to introduce the touching story of the pediatric cancer patient who is part of the Harvard squad. Maybe they should move the feel-good, human interest stuff to the top of the broadcast?

Hoge opened with a 78 and rallied to make the cut on the number, before shooting a course record 62 on Saturday and casually logging a T-3 finish at the Players.
Hard not to cheer for this guy.

Saw a 'coming soon' sign for "Shoot 360" - some sort of basketball simulation/training - next to the Holiday on Washington.
Website says there's already one in Fargo, 5409 53rd Ave S...anyone have any idea about it? Lots more coming nationwide, from the looks of it.
Coupled with the new-ish sports place at the old Hornbachers, and the revamped Northern Air, seems like indoor recreation may finally be having its day.

Has every private real estate transaction in and around Emerado/GF County been scrutinized to this level? Every building permit?
As an American, I want to believe that our counter-espionage efforts do not hinge on an up/down permitting vote of the Grand Forks City Council.
This all just smacks of 'espionage theater.' We only know what the powers that be want us to know anyway.
Now I'm suddenly craving a Pepsi...

Without knowing Grand Sky's real impact, is it fair to conclude that the nation's utterly 'mission critical' drone efforts would take place a little more incognito than a conspicuously branded facility adjacent an AFB on a major US highway? I mean, setting aside ND's obvious self interests, does anyone believe that the nation's top military secrets and national defense were really ever on the line here? It's not like we're talking about missile silos or a fleet of B-52s, which tend to stick out.
