Are lower numbers the result of the cost to play hockey?

    Yes. It matters.

I think he's saying that Minot only has one squirt A team.

Ok not sure what his meanings or implications are as Minot has good numbers up and down the youth program.

This is kind of what I was alluding to the other night with Grand Forks keeping their kids.

I'm from Minot originally, and have a lot of friends there still, and the number of kids that go through the Wolves and don't step on the high school ice is mind boggling.  They aren't the only ones, but the list is long.

I see and agree with that a bit,

Minot could easily field another competitive team if they had all the kids who left stayed (but details are in who and where they fall in the districts.)

The numbers are huge but, mind boggling its not.

There just isn't a way sugar coat the reality of how big the talent deficit is in the WDA. And third of the games vs low quality teams vs a Jr's or AAA schedule just makes a crazy good argument to explore other options.

How much to trade for that gal hockey reporter to do UND hockey?

Her salary would pay for itself in increased NCHC subscriptions.

Not only knowledge bet very skilled at interviewing and communicating effectively and clearly.

    Impressive.

For folks more involved than I currently am, what are considered to be the largest issues with NDHS hockey?

Reply will be in 4 volumes post season.

I doubt the Minots, the Bismarck are going to want to travel all the way to Minnesota for regular season games

As I walked out of the rink last night I ran into a long time high school coach who had a great line about the all GF final after we talked about "state of ND hockey".

"Grand Forks may be the only place in the state where playing for their high school teams means something to these kids.  They deserve to play each other in the ship."

    100%

Thats just a bad case of a bias of perception and tunnel vision.

Go to a Century Legacy game and tell me after those kids don't have playing for their school as meaningfull. Minot kids dont have meaning playing as a magician?..

tell that to some of the kids that devoted everything to making the team and didn't. Foolish.

If it had meaning then why do they still leave for jrs?

I might be missing the "meaning" behind the quote a bit but the arrogant attitude of "deserving" to play as opposed to earning and achieving the right (as those GF teams did again) is absolutely the attitude that keeps ND hockey exactly where it is, which is fine with those people.

Maybe UM gophers should just deserve to be innthe frozen four every year cause it means something to them...  same thing.

Respectfully, that's an absolutely terrible attitude.

The Ralph is an awesome facility no one is denying that but when you get less than a half of the arena filled the atmosphere sucks.  Put that same crowd at Scheels and you have a great atmosphere.   The ice is pretty much the same.

The Ralph does a way better job and the facilities are better, the girls aren't relegated to the "Nobody gives a !@#$" rink...

Fargo is just an awefull high school hockey experience in and outside the rink and town.

It’s also about the student athlete expierence

would you rather play in the best hockey rink in the nation (Ralph) or some !@#$ hole in minot

Tell me you've never been to  Minot Maysa without... you know the rest

Ralph should host every year or every 2 out of 3 years, it is a better experience.

Rotate the 3rd year between Minot and scheels

IF fargo can figurenout the hotel management

Not much of a student Thlete experience staying at some of the crack whore meth motels they are but up in

The Ralph is just bigger which makes it seem more empty

when a gf team is in the title game which every year it is minimum 4k

    Look at student sections yesterday

    rrhs was 1st

crntral 2nd followed by north id day

The boys tourney could be held in Minot 100% of the years.

You think GF has good attendance purely out of proximity but if those wheels had to turn more than an hour the student section would look exactly like Fargo Norths did last night.

Which was absolutely pathetic for being in town for them.

We shall see if it's a GF final but I think it's pure fantasy to think the scheels bowl will be over half full

Maybe century really was sick last weekend.  They look way better today.

    More than you can imagine...

And the "was" isn't "was" it's more like "still, but not quite as bad"

Showed in the 2nd and 3rd. Just nothing left in the tank.

A few players with UND connections on that list.
Graney from Hazen is the kid of a girl I graduated HS with...would be cool to see him get a college look.

Great Kid, Great family, he should get a look in juniors somewhere. Tough road out of Hazen but he's a good hockey player and works hard.

Gotta admit, being from a small town and with family originating in Walsh County it's pretty sad to see the decline of the Spoilers.  A lot of great history in that program, hope they can find a way back to contention once again.  Dickinson is a nice surprise this year though, so will have an underdog to cheer for.

Century has some good ol' Walsh County roots throughout the team if your looking for storylines to support....
