  1. I was in Vegas during the championship game if the 2005 Frozen Four. It may be different during the regionals, but at that time the Frozen Four was during the Masters. The "friendly" folks at the Imperial Palace told us (understandably) that the money was on the golf and they would show that until it was over. We got a couple of small tv's with no sound until golf was over (2nd period or so). There was a crowd of about 20 Sioux fans there at the time.

  2. Any time that I had the chance to watch the Sioux on FSN, I would gladly watch Woog and Mazzocco over Sweeney. If only I could get my radio to match with my TV, I could/would listen to Hennesey.

Hmmm...Maybe Hennesey could do TV and radio at the same time?

  3. I say the following:

    1. Dive when you can.

    2. Don't turn your back to any player when near the boards

    3. Keep your head up.

    4. Expect a lot of special teams play so Special teamers conserve energy.

    5. Eidsness (or Dell) come ready to take a lot of shots

    6. Play with your head on a swivel. Unsafe ice with Adam on the ice. We don't need any more injuries.

    7. Revenge isn't the name of the game. Injuring any SCSU player won't solve anything. Don't go after Lasch. In fact, don't go after Marvin (sorry, jloos, he'll play tonight and be suspended after the game for 1 game if at all).

It was a slow whistle goal, but it was the right call in the end. Eidsness didn't have the puck.

Agreed on all, but #1. There is nothing more bush league or lame than a player diving.

  4. Ditto... :D Poor turnout by the lower bowl student section. Fun game still

1st PP unit (IIRC) was Duncan, VV, Frattin, Genoway and Marto. Can't remember the 2nd unit.

Duncan and Zajac were the 1st PK unit.

  5. While he didn't put any points in the scoresheet, David Hale made points with my 4 year old son today. We were on the glass for the Wild-Flames game. Hale saw my son and I with our Sioux hats on. He cracked a big smile, picked up a puck and tossed over to me for my son.

  6. The Holy Cross statement was out of hand. If you're in the press box, you're not a fan, you're a professional, which means you should act like one.

I don't care if it is "professional" or not, but it is stupid. Yes Holy Cross beat the gophers (and i was there cheering for them), but it was almost 2 years ago. It seems like some fans cheer harder against a rival than they do for their (the Sioux) team.

  7. If anyone has the UND, BC, NE lines from this weekend, I would appreciate an update on the wiki, or here.

  8. OK, if you think HD and standard definition look similar, something wasn't right in the setup. Just because the TV was an HDTV doesn't mean HD was hooked up to it, making it look the same. Also, if you get a cheap HDTV, it can and will make a difference in quality as well. If you have all of this, make sure you're on the HD channel and not the standard channel.

Agreed. Buffalo Wild Wings (north Fargo) has been airing a lot of stuff from ESPN HD the last couple of times I have been there. The only problem, they are airing it on old projectors that are not HD, so you get letterboxes at top and bottom.

I think a lot of the people who "don't think there is that much of a difference", haven't watched real HD. People think if you have an HDTV, you have HD...it doesn't work that way.

  9. I believe that players should be penalized, fined, and suspeded (but not beat up) when they ram somebody head first into the boards. As for knee to knee contact... They're both on skates for crying out loud, which puts both knees in a weak position. Please find me a physics expert who will vouch for this ridiculous theory about how one knee is in a stronger position than the other. The fact of the matter is that Ulf put his own knee on the line when he made that play. He was lucky not to hurt himself, but great players put their bodies on the line for the greater good of the team.

Physics expert...put on a pair of skates and we can go try it.

Oh wait, would that make me a physical player or a dirty player?

    DaveK=ignored.

  10. I think the Forbes/Boucha incident was disgusting, as was Marty McSorely using his stick as a weapon. There's no place in the game for that kind of garbage. However, if you're using your own body and not a stick to dish out the punishment... That is where I differentiate between the two. Ulf put his own body on the line to make plays, and Penguin fans loved him for it. I think the guy who claimed a couple of pages back that Ulf couldn't have hurt himself is out of touch with logic and common sense to make such a statement. If two knees collide there is a chance that either one or the other (or both) could be injured. It's a physical game, people need to realize that. There are going to be collisions between bodies when players attempt to make a play, and sometimes guys are going to get hurt. In a perfect world nobody would ever get hurt, but that's a fairy tale.

I tried to stay out of the crap fest...but, you are clueless. If you have ever played hockey (yeah, I know you are a super knowledgeable fan), you would know that knee to knee hits are one of the worst things that can happen to a player. I couldn't count the number of time I have been jabbed in the ribs with a stick or slashed in the back of the legs with a stick, none of them compare to knee to knee hits. I don't care if it is done by another person's body.

And to call somebody "out of touch with logic and common sense" to say that Ulf sticking his knee out to hit someone else's knee is just as dangerous for both involved...(insert something here about a pot calling a kettle black).

P.S. My OPINION is that 80's music sucked then and sucks now.;)

  11. You have to believe me...I'm not trying to be a huge pain in your rear today...just trying to help you make the site as best as it can be! When I click on the Wiki tab above, it's still a blank page. I see the SS.com logo, along with 2 ads in the upper right. At the bottom there are 6 buttons - Show Pagesource, Old Revisions, Recent Changes, Login, Index, Back to Top. The middle of the page is blank.

I too can not see the text in the middle of the Wiki page. I can highlight the text...it is almost like the text is white on a white backround.

I am using IE7 (at work).

  12. Mike Lee, the goalie from Roseau took an unofficial visit here yesterday.

    I don't think so.

I play hockey with someone close to Mike Lee. I don't know if the Sioux have "recruited" him (I know they can't), but he goes to Sioux hockey camps. He was showed the GF area by (I believe) Finley last summer.

    Good to hear.

  13. Nice to have company. Say, Trioup, when do we start "apologizing" for LaPoint? I know he hasn't played any games for the Sioux yet, but all the scouts say his game is similar to Lee's and his physicality is similar to Lee's... They also say he's a bit raw. Should we wait 2 games? 3 games? How long?

Enough with the "Lapoint under the bus" crap. How many times do you need to say the exact same thing?

Who are you going to appologize for if Lapoint comes in and is the WCHA ROY? If he does struggle, I don't think people will "throw him under the bus" like "they" did to Lee.

Most people on this board have never seen Lapoint play a game. Whereas, a lot of Sioux fans watched Brian Lee all through high school. They watched him dominate in high school and that never happend in the WCHA.

That said, good luck to Brian in the NHL/AHL.
