  1. The Finalists

    forwards

    Nathan Davis-jr miami(ohio) 20g 28 a 1.26 pt/g

    TJ hensick-sr. michigan 17g 39a 1.56pt/g

    kyle rank-sr. st. lawrence 15g 15a .88 pt/g

    ryan Duncan-so. UND 27g 21a 1.41 pt/g

    defencemen

    drew Bagnall-sr. st. lawrence 6g 15a .62 pt/g

    goalies

    David Brown-sr. notre dame 25-5-3 1.68 gpg .927

    John Curry-sr. BU 15-6-8 1.83 gpg .935

I think the 3 finalists will(should) be(but you can count on at least one Eastern player being in the mix which will probably force Duncan out?)

TJ Hensick--well known name, good numbers, big school

David Brown--Notre Dame is big story this season and he has led the way

Ryan Duncan--hard to ignore the leading scorer in the toughest conference in the country

I would like to see Duncan win it and I think he deserves it, but I think Brown will win it.

Also, all the other nominees are upperclassman(Davis and Duncan are the only non-seniors)

    What do ya think??

  2. 2-4-1 on every game but homecoming(I think they charge more for that one?).

If the Sioux and Bison play this year, how about NDSU pay UND the same as what they paid Concordia-st. paul and NDSU takes the same amount they made against them and then UND gets the difference over and above.

  3. Much to your dismay the NDSU vs. SDSU game was a true sellout, holds the record attendance for any sporting event in ND. I was there and it was electric. You guys can keep harping but we don't have to give tickets away to the number one sporting event in ND.

I know funny and that right there is funny as I am looking at the sticker that I peeled off the front page of the forum for 2 for 1 tickets to bison football games in case you were too busy to run down to cynthia's cakes and get them free.

  4. They won the State Championship in 1992, his junior year, and haven't won an opening round game at state since!

They probably sold their soul for that state title??? ;) The beat Bismarck High in an all-west Final after Bismarck had absolutely destroyed them 3 times that year. Someone can correct me on the scores that season, but I think they were in the ball park of 8-5 Minot for the title and Bhs won during the year along the lines of 10-2, 12-4, and 10-4. Tom Phillion(future UND player) was the star for Minot and Bismarck had 3 future Division 1 captains on that team, Justin Theel(Notre Dame), Mitch Vig (UND) and Mike Peluso(UMD) as well as Schauer? who tied Peluso for the state scoring title that season with something in the 80's for points!!

  5. Any one remember Bill Claviter who played D on the 87 Championship team? He is from my home town Virgina MN, any ways I grew up by him and I often get to go ice fishing with him and talk Pro/College Hockey with him just wondering if anyone knew him......

Worked construction one summer with Bill Claviter in Grand Forks for Peterson Construction. We built steam tunnels at the GFAFB. Good guy, we had quite the crew that summer!

  6. Again, if I believe everything since the last compilation ....

Brock Bellmore DL West Fargo, ND

    Dan Hendrickson LB Minot, ND

    Drew Daggett WR Frazee, MN

    Chris Anderson WR Duluth, MN

    Josh Murray RB Pepin, WI

Brent Goska QB/DB Wisconsin Rapids, WI

    Code Rose QB Elmwood, WI

    Kris Ankenbauer DB Plano, TX

    Tru Nguyen LB Burnsville, MN

    Catlin Solum RB Fargo, ND

John Carruth WR Eden Prairie, MN

    Brandon Quesenberry OL Billings, MT

    Mike Ebanks DL Hibbing CommColl

Matt Simmons OL Racine Park, WI

    Chris Schann DE Chandler, AZ

Deryk Van Zee WR Billings, MT

    Mitch Goertz LB Everest(?), WI

    Mark Kubacki LB Stillwater, MN

Brad Kelly, LB Coon Rapids, MN

    Troy Bryant, DB Menomime(sp), WI

    Nick Bylin, OL Adams, ND

    Domique Hawkins, DB Minneapolis, MN

    Mitch Kudrna, DB Dickinson, ND

    And updating this:

In 2006 the signees brief listed 3 specialists, 3 skills, and 13 heavy recruits.

In 2005 the signees brief listed 2 specialists, 6 skills, and 17 heavy recruits.

In 2004 the signees brief listed 1 specialists, 12 skills, and 8 heavy recruits.

In 2007 the verbals so far seem to be 2 specialists, 10 skills, and 11 heavy recruits.

    *

    specialists: QB, P, K

    skills: RB, WR, TE, DB

    heavy: OL, DL, LB

Anyone know if The Ankenbauer kid from Texas had any ties to UND? Any relation to a coach in another program at UND?

  7. I'm assuming they were selling Sioux jerseys? Apart from the whole hypocrisy this, what the hell are they even doing selling Sioux stuff?

they had t shirts, jerseys, hats, and sweatshirts. I have a picture on my camera phone but as I am not a computer wiz, I am trying to figure out how to post it.

  8. If someone has the date of the game and the time in the game I can look through my tapes.

I remember watching it frame by frame when I got home the only question is if it got taped over or lost since that was many beers ago...

I am not 100% on this, but in looking at the stats and penalties from this game, I think it was the game on december 11, 1998.

  9. Don't know if anyone caught it. But Friday night on one of the numerous times that the flake Lawson's helmet came off...as he was leaning down to pick it up, Kaip(pretty sure, might have been Fabian) gave it a little kick which set off some more pushing and shoving.

  10. Maybe some gopher alum will pony up some big bucks and bring in some high profile coaches for the basketball and football prgrams!!

How about Bobby Knight and Lou Holtz?? that would bring some excitement to the twin cities and you would have simultaneously the cleanest basketball rpogram and the dirtiest football program in the NCAA!!!

  11. Hey petey23, I'm curious where you heard the quote from Phil Kessel Sr.? I heard the same quote, but it was about 5 years ago and it was in association with a AAA hockey team out of Minnesota. Is this the same instance, or has it been used more than once by Mr. Kessel?

I read it in either the Star Trib or Pioneer Press, can't remember which? It was a direct quote from Phil Sr. though.

  12. I wouldn't have bothered to sit him on the bench. . . .he would have been on his way to the locker room to remove his stuff. Show some class and act like you have been there before! I certainly hope that Burkhard sent some sort of message to the rest of the players, as that kind of thing should NOT be tolerated!!

It sounds to me like all you guys are jealous. If that would have happened at your school you guys would be talking about how much of an idiot a guy from your team is for doing this. You have to admit that is one of the coolest things to ever happen in high school hockey. As for Coach Burckhard having a big long talk with him about it, the coach doesn't really even care about it at all. He laughed about the whole thing and wants to frame the puck.

Sounds like the coach might also be in dire need of a well placed Gordie Howe elbow. :silly:
