First save opportunity goes to Duffey and he promptly blows it. Only reason I can see for Duffey to get the first chance is just because he has been here longest which seems like a Rocco move.

7 Minnesota kids on the team and I believe only Plante is committed. Little surprised to see the Moorhead kid go.

I think he signs a pro deal somewhere. If he is back I think he ends up playing bottom 6 fit wise just lacking a little bit of playmaking ability and speed wise. It is probably me hoping and thinking more of the skill we are bringing in with Blake, McLaughlin, and hopefully James needing to be top 6 guys to be a more explosive offensive team.
Just never really loved Calder's fit here especially looking toward next season. Not upset at all to see him hit the portal and open up a spot for someone like James or Spicer.

I think Calder has a place on next years team in a scoring role. He was tied for 2nd on our team in goals this season.

Have to think we have a guy or two enter the portal or sign in the coming weeks. The two most logical guys to me would be Budy and Calder and I wouldn't mind seeing either of them go.

Max Strand to Vermont
I know he put up numbers but I've just never been real impressed watching him. Seems to disappear lot of times throughout games. Saw him twice against Warroad, twice against Moorhead, and Elk River playoff game and just never got the hey we should be after this kid feeling.

Top 4, definitely. One year left, unfortunately. I'd say he'd be our third best D behind Frisch and Kleven.
Righty? Seems like that would fit best

Wasn't sure where to put this. Guessing a conference streaming deal with ESPN+ as well as some games on ESPNU or something question is which conference. When is the NCHC's deal with CBSSN up?

Anyone know if Famous Daves actually opens tomorrow? Searched online last week and it said March 28th but then the next day it changed to April 4th

Anyone else notice that you see some remarkable USHL stat lines the couple weeks after the end of NCAA regionals? Hmmm ... I wonder why ...
Heard on the radio this morning Brad Berry was in attendance at Fargo last night as well.

With Denny's going down, prime real estate on 32nd opens up. The last thing GF needs is another vacant eyesore.

After Minnesota really controlled the 1st Western has found their legs and been the better team in the 2nd.

So tomorrow all UND fans will root in unison for Western to take down the rodents? I'm fine with Minny beating UMASS (for my bracket) but that's as far as my support goes.
Nah I don't root for anyone once UND is out I just hope for good exciting games. I'm not real fond of Western Michigan either. I picked Minnesota to win the title over Duluth in my bracket but Mankato is the one that I'd like to see breakthrough. 1st period in the MIN/WMU has gone about how I expected so far. Lot of zone time for Minnesota as outside of Attard I thought WMU's D could have trouble moving the puck and they have.

I think Calder can regain some of his scoring touch if you put him with someone like Blake. He doesn’t create a lot of space for himself, but if you put him with someone who can get the puck to him in scoring areas I can see him becoming a more consistent threat. In that scenario, who goes to the Jamernik, Hain line? Kunz certainly could make a jump next year as well. Depth up front doesn’t look like an issue, just need a few more consistent difference makers to step up.
I'm not big on Calder. I can't see putting him with guys like Blake and Gaber as he isn't near the skater those guys are and I wanted to try to put some guys that push the pace together.

No Portz? I would put him back with Ness and Albrecht.
Must've just missed him, I'd agree I thought he had a really solid last month of the season.

If Hain is back, add a transfer D somewhere in that group, and Sanderson is the only one that signs early we're looking at something like this maybe
Gaber-Schmaltz-Blake
Costantini-McLaughlin-Caulfield
Hain-Jamernik-Calder
Portz-Ness-Albrecht
James-Kunz-Montgomery-Strinden-Budy
Kleven-Frisch
Jandric-Bast
Moore-Johnson
Ferner
Hellsten/DeRidder
Feeney/Johnson

I thought of him, but didn’t he come in young and missed some injury time this year? He still looks like he needs to add some strength and weight.
He did

Don’t think Cates will use his Covid year, but the only other threats would be Quinn Olson and Fanti I would think. Don’t know that Boston would be hot for Olson, so not sure he would leave or not.
Wyatt Kaiser maybe?

Teams feels like it's taking shape, a little bit. Was told Sendo likely gone, Hainer likely back. Kleven, Gaber, Frisch will get offers, but are all likely to stay. Calder could entertain pro offers as he's getting older and needs top 6 minutes. Sounds like we'll bring in a portal D, Blake, McLaughlin, Strinden and consider either a portal F or if no one is a fit, bring in James. I like it a lot.
Heard the same on goalie and D being the portal additions and that Blake, McLaughlin, and Strinden were locks to come in and James and Spicer were TBD. Hadn't heard on the other stuff but it all makes sense. Would love to have Hain back and I know he has a great shot but Calder was a guy I expected to get more out of. Honestly at this point I don't see him as a guarantee top 6 guy for us, may be better off signing if he gets any kind of pro contract. I just don't see a lot of difference between him, Montgomery, Albrecht, Ness, Portz.

I think you go to the portal for a goalie only if you believe Hedquist needs another year in juniors. He had a pretty rough season a year ago in the USHL and seems to have rebounded with a much better season in the BCHL. It would make no sense to bring him in to sit behind a portal goalie. If you bring him in then you split playing time with Hellsten until one takes the job.
From what I've heard they will have Hedquist play another year of juniors and go to the portal for a goalie. I know there has been some speculation on the Michigan State guy but I'm not sold on him. It also seems like they will hit up the portal for a D. The question is who comes in at forward. You have the 3 locks in Blake, McLaughlin, and Strinden but I think I'd bring in at least one of James or Spicer too even if you get another year of Hain.
-
Minnesota found their legs in the 3rd and OT and absolutely dominated.
-
Based on what I've heard we have for sure coming in Blake, McLaughlin, and Strinden. James and Spicer are TBD but I get the feeling it is getting more likely James is on campus next fall. They will be looking to the portal for a defenseman and goalie as they don't feel those guys are ready to make the jump. Likely a grad transfer goalie and probably a little more open on his class.

Knott was in the mix for St. Thomas and he is the guy they should've hired but they went with Blasi.
I think it would have to be the right job for him as he is very content in Mankato. Not sure he would go out east even for a big time job. I wonder about Bemidji with it being his alma mater, family in the area, and Serratore getting up their in age. Think it would depend on how $$$ committed Bemidji is.
