  1. I bet he does...but I wouldn't say, at this point, he is a lock. I really think it depends on the player. If they are more relaxed and layed back and simply want to play hockey....they go with their gut on where they want to go. If they are uber dedicated and will do anything to get into the League....they will most likey do whatever the NHL gms want them to do...even back out of their prior commitments.

Pretty sure Skjei is a sure thing to Minnesota. I remember reading comments from him recently that its been his dream to play for the Gophers and those kind of things, plus he has already started some summer school at Minnesota and even left the Rangers prospect camp early to get back to start school.

  2. I would really like to know where Conner Hurley (Columbia team if you click the link) is going. I watched him in last year's MN state tourney and besides Besse champsionship game, Hurley was the best kid in the Tourney and by "kid", he was only a sophomore last year. Seemed pretty tall and lanky but was so good. He lead Edina's high school team in pts last season. If anyone has heard where he is going or who he is looking at please post. I have to think UND is at least taking a look at him.

He was good at Holy Angels before and really took another big step up last year after transfering to Edina. I was very impressed with his play in the state tournament and would agree that he was one of the top and most exciting players in the tournament. He definitely has a lot of potential and a bright future. I am sure UND is interested in him and I would guess the usual suspects like Minnesota and Wisconsin will be going after him as well and he will have his choice of where he wants to play at the next level, but I haven't seen or heard anything about which way he might be leaning at all.

  3. Gopher recruit Brady Skjei was drafted in the 1st round by the Rangers and hopefully for their and college hockeys sake he doesn't let the pressure from the Rangers effect his decison when they try to steer him to major juniors unlike some kid named JT Miller. I hate that NHL teams try to talk their draft picks out of their decisons they have already made and hope Skjei actually has some loyalty and can stand the pressure the Rangers will try to put on him to go MJ.

  4. Congrats to Jordan on being drafted by the Blues and even though he has strongly insisted how committed he is to UND and I have believed him it's nice to have him go to a team that has had success with college kids and you know won't try to pressure him to go play major juniors.

  5. Weird. I saw some Habs fans saying that Kristo is dumb for coming back for his senior year, because last year's team was supposed to win and if we couldn't win it last year, we have no chance next year.

Apparently, they heard that Brock Nelson and Ben Blood were both leaving school early to go pro, so they are experts... :silly:

HAHA  I saw the same thing on the HF boards, very few fans that actually knew about UND on there and a lot who had never seen a game but saw a few guys were leaving for the pros and thought that must mean next year will be bad for the program. A lot of people who thought they were experts on UND and thought that Kristo was making a horrible decison and they shoud deal him now but in reality most except for a few fans really had no idea about UND.

  6. I really hope Dell comes back as it is always good to have depth, but I don't see any way Gothberg isn't ahead of Saunders on the depth chart whether Dell is here or not. Saunders was brought in to add depth and experiecnce to the position in the event that Dell leaves but I think they still expect Gothberg to take the job. I wouldn't be suprised to see Gothberg starting a lot of games even if Dell stays and he will especially be starting the majority of games if Dell leaves.

  7. Seth handled this decison with class and did it the right way, I will look forward to watching him play in the world juniors next year and as he continues his career I wish him good luck and will probably be a fan of his. The same can not be said of guys like JT Miller, Stefan Matteau, and Miles Koules.

  8. Wow shocking news! I'd like to thank Coach Eades for his great service to the program and really hope this doesn't end up hurting us. I know Eades was a very respected coach especially along the recruiting links and especially in Minnesota, this whole deal has me a little worried especially since there isn't a lot of information coming out with it except for Hak basically saying he felt he needed to make a change.

  9. I was looking at the Montreal Canadiens HF boards and saw some of their reactions to Kristo returning and all I can say is wow! A lot of people wanted him traded right away, some said he will not develop at all, and others said there is no way he is going back to try to win a championship because this was their year, haha it really suprised me at the lack of knowledge some fans had about the college game, I figured they knew a little about UND and that they're basically a championship contender going into every season.

  10. I don't believe this is accurate. What I read was he planned to play one more year at his high school and then play at Omaha a couple of seasons. He'll only be a sophomore next year.

    http://futureconside...-futures-draft/

He had tweeted before that he was going to play high school hockey at least until he got to a state tournament or graduated, don't know if he will actually follow it but he had said it at one time.

  11. Ok, just curious, I know the 1st overall pick in the Futures draft is playing HS next year as well.

Don't know if you'll see him in the USHL for a while, he had an offer from the USNTDP but turned it down and said he wants to continue to stay with his high school team and his biggest goal is to reach the state tournament, said he plans on being at Holy Family(his high school team) for his whole high school career.

  14. Via Schlossman

Kind of figured that, but still nice to know the reason. I thought maybe the Sioux told him to wait another year or maybe even told him playing time would be tough and he should think about other options.

  15. What does UND do now? They bringing in someone early but now we have a opening don't we with koules not coming. Fill it with another stud

They probably won't need to bring in anyone else this year, there should be around 15 or more forwards this year.

  16. Maybe Koules saw the writing on the wall that he would probably not have a lot of playing time, either way I'm not gonna wish him a lot of luck when a kid backs out on his commitiment. Maybe UND told him to wait another year to come in or wasn't happy with his progress who knows, either way I don't think we're gonna miss a whole lot on not getting him.

  17. yes, they may have wanted to sign him. But we were not in his discussions with them, so we can't rule out that he said, i don't feel like i am mature enough to move on and they replied with then, stay and we will wait until you are ready.

My point was, we were not party to his discussions with anyone...so, we can not state that is what happened in those conversations.

Ok I misinterpreted that a little I get what you're saying now.

  18. I just looked at Miles Koules twitter page and it used to say something about UND on his bio or whatever and now it doesn't. I don't know if it means anything obviously but just thought it was interesting.

You can take him off the list he just said on twitter he has decided to go to the Medicine Hat Tigers. If you are not committed to the program than don't commit, although I'm not to worried about losing him, I'm not gonna wish him a whole lot of luck.

  19. I am sure that they have talked as well, but that doesn't mean that he told him to stay because he was in the AHL this year. The chances of that happening whether you stay for 1,2,3,4, or even 5 years are great....I am pretty sure that the guys all know that. For all we know, Danny is staying not because of conversations that he had with other players but because of conversations that he had with the Canadiens.

I wouldn't necessarily say that the, Canadiens wanted to sign him and I'm sure there was a reason he got the input from so many other players and that I'll factored into the decison. It wasn't like the Canadiens said go back to school for another year, it was Dannys decison and I'm sure he took in all the information he could and got a lot of peoples opinons.
