Yeah, but if the same coach can get a team prepared to get to the frozen four multiple times with a different makeup of players from year to year every year under his tenure you have to appreciate that kind of consistency. Seriously hak haters, send in your applications to UND for the next head coaching job, I am sure you will have better luck/more success than Hak and can land the title in a year or two no problem.
Look at Mankato, they got a new head coach a two years ago and ended up being the #1 overall seed this year and laid a big egg against the #16 team. You guys would be happy with that?
You're right, let's pretend Hakstol is the only good coach in college hockey. And fans wouldn't be picking the new coach, a good chance a professional search firm would help with that.

That's not my expertise, that's what a consultant search firm is for, and who said they have to be available? College basketball and football hire coaches away like it's going out of style.

Love this team. These guys just kept battling. Being in the mix every year is a testament to the coaches and the players. To Gordy, the General, OD, Mattson, Mac, Parksy, Panz, thanks for laying it all out and giving us 4 great years.
I feel bad for the players and the coaches. No one wanted to win more than them. Absolutely hilarious to hear some "fans" on this board bitch and moan how tough it is on them after a game like this. We get to watch one of the best programs in the country compete on a top level year after year after year. Seriously, bitching about players, calling on Hak to get fired, saying the game is over long before it is. Seriously, some of the posts are truly idiotic.
Can't wait until next season. Thanks again for another great year of Sioux Hockey. GO SIOUX!!

I've actually come to the conclusion, based on his great coaching during the reg season and getting the team to the ncaa tourney, that Haks would be a better pro coach than a college coach. It simply suits his coaching style, expertise,.....
If that's the case, then let's hope he goes to the NHL sooner than later, better fit

I'm convinced even though the east teams don't play more like NHL teams they seem to get more high-end, skill talent anymore. How else do you explain how their freshmen can rack up respectable point totals (and as young freshmen) yet the high end skill players we seem to get anymore have played juniors and don't seem to start racking up points until soph or jr years (with a few exceptions) even after scoring lots of pts in juniors prior to playing at UND?
Not to mention the good East teams rake us through the coals

He has job security because he has exceptional regular seasons, which in turn continues to bring in revenue for the program.

Well there's always next decade.
I've been convinced for years when UND finally gets a new coach and wins a natty fairly soon after. People will look back on the Hakstol years as the "lost decade(s)."
I think next decade is a reasonable expectation at this rate
