  1. Stefan Diggs traded to Texans. All Buffalo could get was a 2nd rounder and they had to also give Houston a 5th rounder this year and a 6th round pick next year.
He forced a trade from Minnesota and now Buffalo. What’s the over/under until he wants out of Houston? I’d say 3 years.
Some players are never happy and are too big of a headache to have.

I'd be curious to see how often the team that appears to have the most talent actually wins the title.

I think back on some of the absolutely loaded teams in college hockey over the last twenty years.  UND and MN during the mid-2000's, with a handful of first rounders on each team.  BU in 2017 or 2018, where people were wondering whether they'd even lose a game because of the first round talent.  Michigan a couple of years ago.

BC may win it all this year, but that one will be the exception, more than the rule, in my book.

I've often commented that I think Dean Blais' three best teams at UND were the '98, '99 and '04 teams, and they did literally nothing in the post-season.  I don't think any of them won the WCHA tournament, and they certainly went nowhere in the NCAA's.

Trip down memory lane. Fighting Sioux team from 2005-2006 season had six first rounders (technically Toews wasn’t drafted till after the season).

Should have reviewed the hit for a major

Someone needs to explain the challenge concept to the MSU coach. Pretty sure he doesn’t get it.

    3-2 Michigan

    looked offsides

Watching in slow motion was very close. Hard to tell from the angle we got.  At that point in the game MSU should have challenged especially if they had a timeout which I believe they did. Bad coaching decision.

With the way my selections have gone, congrats to DU, Goldy, Michigan, and BC on the F4.

Could you make the frozen four more unwatchable for me? Get the barf bags ready.

Why does it seem the majority of people think Blake is good enough to go pro?

He’s small and can be reckless with the puck. Can he score? Absolutely, but I don’t feel he’s close to NHL ready. I think it’d be beneficial for him to stay at least another year maybe even through senior year.

If he were to leave now, I see a Kawaguchi or Adams situation, going to AHL squad then may not even hang there but moved down to the jungle. Could be proved wrong tho.

He’s not ready for the NHL. He’ll only turn 21 just before next season so he has plenty of time. Needs to be patient and develop. Take time to do that now and reap the benefits down the road.

My Projection based on current info:

    Forward (15):
    GR - Jamernik
SR - Berg, Kunz, Schmaltz, Montgomery
JR - Blake, McLaughlin, James, Strinden
    SO - Perron
FR - Swanson, Boisvert, Croal, Littler
    X - Portal

    Defense (8):
    SR - Zmolek
SO - Livanavage, Wiebe, Benoit, Komzak
    FR - Jubenvill, Strathmann, Emery

    Goalie (3):
    JR - Johnson
    SO - Hedquist
    X - Portal

I think (similar to when we did this last year) that next year has the potential to be a better team than this year.  Both offensively and defensively.

You lose a dependable scorer in Gaber and a hustle/grit guy in Johannes, but I would expect big years from all the forwards in that JR class and then also for Perron to have a similar improvement like what OMac had from his FR to SO year.  Kunz really stepped up his game 2nd half...a VandeVelde type SR year from him would be great.  Two elite forward frosh that should impact immediately.  Find a diamond in the rough portal grab like Johannes again that can contribute and that is a skilled forward group.

Defensively, Zmolek/Livanagage/Wiebe are the steady core and then add in three very skilled frosh.  Strathmann played an extra year of juniors, so I'd expect him to be able to be a reliable/steady dman from the opening puck drop.  Emery is a beast.  Add in an experienced portal grab for injury insurance or if Benoit/Komzak hit the portal.

Goalie is the only real unknown.  Hedquist showed that he can play at this level, but you still need someone to push him for playing time.  Portal grab for a year until Heil is ready to come in the following year would be ideal.

I believe Zmolek will be a junior next season as far an eligibility goes.

We aren't the only team with a title drought:

    UM Go Blow: 26 years

    Goofs: 21 years

    Bucky: 18 years

    Michigan State: 17 years

    BU: 15 years

    BC: 12 years

    Ours is at 8 years.

I am frustrated like everyone else, but we are in the same boat as a lot of other programs.

    Definitely frustrating.
It’s not just the lack of titles, it’s the lack of any playoff success at all the past 8 years.
In the past 8 years we have missed the tourney 3 times and made it 5 times (I am including the Covid year as making it since they would have qualified). In the four years they competed they lost in the first round 3 times with the only win over AIC.
There has been 7 NC$$ tournaments since we last won a title and we have won only one game.

  9. I would like to know the coaching strategy going into the third. Sitting back and playing soft is a great strategy if you want to give up goals to a talented offensive team, especially when the goaltending is average. It’s not like Michigan is a tough defensive team, cause they’re not. You have to attack them and play more in the offensive zone. Was the team gassed? They seem to have found energy the last 5 minutes when they realized their season was in jeopardy.

Pyke being out def didn't help.
He usually plays more minutes than anybody on the team.  Then they shortened the bench more with Benoit, so they were essentially running 4 D.

Did I miss something? Was there another D out? We did have the other 5 besides Pyke didn’t we?
