Apparently this guy really hates UND

I wonder if this guy knows that their last title was 26 years ago, and that 7 of those titles happened 50+ years ago.

So why not go a step further and miss the post season all together and just win every ten years or so.  Don’t know if you understand how recruiting works, but great players tend to go to teams that are in the picture for national championships.

Thanks for educating me on how recruiting works! I had no idea before that.

So you are on the side of some NCAA tournament wins and no title for over 20 years. Thanks for the clarification.

Titles are too difficult to win to be expected, but the excitement generated during the Hak era was unparalleled.  Seemingly every year could be our year.  Never missed an NCAA tourney (Brad missed three), 7 Frozen Four appearances in 11 years (Brad 1 in 8), plus all of the conference postseason success with Hakstol.  You could spend your money on St Paul or a regional knowing your team would be there and they'd show up.  You could buy Frozen Four tickets in advance knowing your team had a better chance of being there than not.  It was all very exciting even if they all ultimately ended up in disappointment.  What's exciting about UND hockey right now?

"all ultimately ended up in disappointment". This is just me but there's no difference whether the disappointment happened in the Frozen Four or earlier.  You seem to be putting lots of stock in Frozen Four appearances and NCAA tournament wins. I'm not sure I agree. Personally for me, the barometer is winning national titles. Everything else is secondary. Honest question .. would you rather have your team have won a title 8 years ago with little postseason success since, or be like our friends to the East who have several NCAA tournament wins and some Frozen Four appearances over the past several years, but haven't hung an NCAA banner in over 20 years.

  4. 2,500 seats is pretty ridiculous for a college hockey regional, but this arena in Maryland Heights looks very nice. If it wasn't Easter weekend, I'd be tempted to make the trip if we got placed there. The atmosphere would be pretty cool.

  5. Connelly (USCHO) & Schlossman have the same projected brackets. I would agree with these. I think you can almost lock them in.

Anybody planning on making the trip to Maryland Heights?

I def didn’t forsee this meltdown at this time of the year. Completely take it back. No way we get SF…nor should we.

At the time I would have never guessed we would be a 2 seed. I thought it was possible Omaha would get in as a 4 seed, which would have pushed us out of SF.

I have 4 MSU v 14 CC - 5 UND v 10 Mich. in MO at the moment.  A few scenarios bump CC and move UMASS-A in according to the predictor.

If the top seeds win tonight, UMass gets in ahead of CC. If That happens I have this same bracket with UMass replacing CC, and we'd be playing in Springfield.

On a side note, I hope @scpa0305didn't head to Vegas with their kid's college fund to make that wager on UND in Sioux Falls. ;)

Aggressive forecheck by UNO forcing Sioux into some questionable decisions and/or giveaways in our zone did not help.

Played us like Western Michigan a few weeks ago. The difference is Omaha has guys who can bury the puck. I expect we'll see the same style from anybody we match up with next weekend.

Nightmare scenario as it currently stands for the NCAA Tournament Committee.....things will change, but as of today I would not envy them.

    Natural layout.

    BC, Maine, Quinnipiac, Bemidji State

    BU, Wisconsin, Michigan, R.I.T.

    UND, Minnesota, Colorado College, Massachusetts

Denver, Michigan State, Western Michigan, Providence

last teams out Nebraska Omaha and SCSU.

Issues....Michigan vs. Wisconsin needs to be changed. How do they keep top 2 seeds out East with Massachusetts being a host team and as a 4 seed and not able to matchup against either of them. Providence is not host team but I am sure they would like to keep them in Providence if they could. What if Nebraska Omaha moves up and knocks Providence out? Do you then move UND or Denver out East and Bring BU west?

My fear is in this scenario they would keep bracket integrity as much as possible and send UND out East with UMass. Many of the Sioux Falls tickets have already been sold so I doubt they'd be that worried about attendance.

If UND is a 1 seed and Denver a 2 seed, are they put in the same regional due to geography?  Or since Denver would fly to whatever regional they go to, the committee is at ease to put them wherever?

They tend to keep bracket integrity if they can, so they wouldn't necessarily put them with UND unless the layout of the brackets had them matched up naturally. (Example - UND is #4 & Denver is #5).

So on the topic of #2 vs #3 overall seed, are people excited about potentially getting to #2 so the first game is a much lower pairwise opponent? Right now, St. Cloud State is #14, but with them a NCHC team, would the committee flip to #13 Michigan??  it would be the difference between playing one of them and RIT (#22). I was initially pretty indifferent about being #3 vs #2 but I can see a clear advantage to being #2 so count me in on wanting that as well. One downside of Denver sweeping SCSU which allowed us to win the Cup, is that Denver is now top 4 pairwise right behind UND. I could see them sneaking ahead of us before selection Sunday with all the games yet to be played. In that case, would they steal our spot in Sioux Falls??  Denver is 2 hours closer to SF than Maryland Heights, but still a long ways. I would hope the committee would honor the attendance potential of UND in Sioux falls.

I am definitely hoping we can jump BU to get the 2 seed. There are no guaranteed wins but a regional semifinal against either the Atlantic or CCHA auto-bid would be ideal.

It started a run of about 6 or 7 FFs that I attended. I did not see a Sioux win in the FF until 2016. Some brutal losses in that stretch. But one glorious win.

Same here. Felt like I was jinxing the team by attending. That 2016 win was a huge relief. The post-party across the street was insane.
