I don't like the paying for a playoff game either.  The only positive I can come up with is maybe if they know they have that base for ticket sales for a playoff game it makes it easier to bid to host.

I'd think the AD would bid based on what he thinks it takes to secure the game, not on how many show up.   Losing money on the first round is not uncommon I bet.

No arguments on pretty much all of it from me minus the money grab part. They aren't getting any extra money from anyone on it, unless you have to buy the ticket and aren't going to use it I guess?
I wonder if you call in if you can remove the playoff game from your invoice, similar as you have been able to in the past with the hockey playoff series or like they said you are able to do with the Hall of Fame game. Being that it is a separate line item, I would guess the answer is yes.

I'm sure it was a joint decision, but I'm curious if the REA (who handles the tickets) or the Athletic Department came up with the idea.

If Bubba follows his usual pattern this will be the year we miss the playoffs altogether and then the athletic dept has the money.  I agree with Oxbow, it's a money grab.

You might be on to something about the idea originating with REA.

Quality, proven OL can make pretty solid money in today's transfer portal world. Kilty did just fine for himself ending up at K-State, he was one of the top OL available.
Really sucks, but unfortunately it looks like it is the way it is going to be for the foreseeable future....

Agreed, but dealing with angry season ticket holders who lost their seat for a playoff game because they didn't go buy them within the first few days is equally as frustrating, as is trying to sell tickets, not knowing what seats are going to be available. Understand why it was done, not sure this was the year to test the waters on it though.

Can't they sell the season ticket holders their seat after the game is announced?   Isn't that how it's done elsewhere?  It really doesn't matter to me since I'm not a season ticket holder, but it sure isn't adding any incentive for me to run out an buy either.

So season ticket renewals are available starting today. Everyone will be charged for tickets upfront for a home playoff game for the 2024 season.  If no playoff game  in 2024 then those dollars are carried over for a potential 2025 home playoff game.  Ridiculous IMO. One should have the option to buy playoff tickets....not be forced to buy and prepay for those tickets. Based on the schedule there is minimal chance of making the playoffs much less hosting. Just another money grab.

I don't have season tickets but this is about the dumbest thing I've ever seen.   Forcing people to buy something is never good.

if it's FBS it would be a FBS conference in the Central Time that would rival the MWC and the MAC for G5 "midwest" superiority.

If it's FBS, yes, but good luck getting that to happen.

what's your plan/idea for the dak4 to move away from being red headed step bitches of the mvc?

What would the Summit offer that the MVFC doesn't do now?   I actually see the Summit football as being a weaker conference if you ever got it going

    Hell of an athletic department.

I was just about to post that.   Seems to be a trend.   A rather alarming trend.

Midco I believe is still under contract to continue the broadcasts, not sure who will call the football, BB and hockey games.

But how long does that contract run and what changes can be anticipated when it comes time to renew?

In light of the events since the last game(1 and done playoff appearance)...

    2024 North Dakota Football Schedule
Aug. 31            at Iowa State - LOSS
Sept. 7            vs. Montana - LOSS
Sept. 14          vs. Idaho State- TOSS UP
    Sept. 21          vs. San Diego-WIN
    Sept. 28          vs. Murray State*-WIN

Oct. 5               at North Dakota State*-LOSS
    Oct. 12             BYE
Oct. 19            vs. Northern Iowa*- TOSS UP
Oct. 26             at Youngstown State* - LOSS
Nov. 2              at Indiana State*-TOSS UP
Nov. 9              vs. South Dakota State*- LOSS
Nov. 16            vs. South Dakota* - TOSS UP

Nov. 23            at Illinois State* - LOSS

We have 5 all but guaranteed LOSSES, 1 probable LOSS(MONTANA), 2 all but guaranteed WINS and 3 TOSS UPS.

Lose at home vs UNI and we could lose the last 7 games of the season.

Best case is 7-5 and a playoff berth, worst case is 2-10.

Would make a bet we have no more than 7 wins and at least 5 losses.

I don't think I would call uni a toss up.   Loss in my book

I'm assuming this would take Bubba into retirement? Or no?

Bubba would be 65 at the end of the 27 season.   Who knows?   He could conceivably hang around for another extension.  (unfortunately)

bet we loose to idaho and san diego

Actually I'd bet we lose to Idaho State and Indiana State.   We always play terrible against Idaho State and we damn near lost to Indiana State last year.   And we play Indiana State on the road this year.

Why do they do surveys in odd years, I thought they were every 10 years, what’s the purpose

It's to spot trends for infrastructure needs.   In high growth areas every 10 years isn't enough.  Planners need to know where future roads and schools are needed years in advance.

2023 Census Numbers released today here are net gain/loss 2020 to 2023

    Grand Forks Metro: - 1,246 (-1.2%)

    Fargo Metro: 12,787 (5.1%)

    Grand Forks County: -473 (-.6%)

    Cass County: 11,845 (6.4%)

I brought that very point up a month ago or so and it was argued, but I firmly believe those numbers are correct.  Fargo and Cass County are sucking the lifeblood out of the rest of the region.   I'm not saying that to be sarcastic or trolling, just pointing out the reality of the situation.   The only way to improve is to push for economic development and that's not easy.  Or cheap.

Now that Cousins has signed with the Falcons, the Vikings should do whatever it takes to get that #1 overall pick from Chicago. The Bears are probably going to stick with Fields at QB, so trading the #1 pick would give them loads of extra draft capital. The Vikings would have the pick of any QB they want. Get that franchise QB and build around him. In today's NFL, if you don't have a QB, you don't have a team. Period. #timetogetserious

I've had no faith in big Vikings trades ever since the Hershel Walker deal.

SDSU wins natty in football and has both BB teams favored to go to The Dance. What do they have that UND does not?

Leadership and luck, not necessarily in that order.
