The more I read and watch about this situation the madder I get. Purely amateur hour.
Quote from @UNIPantherAD: "Some things will remain consistent, we need to win 7 D1 games". A constant from committee to committee.

Please post updates. I can't listen in right now.

I dont expect anyone to take what I say as gospel, just sharing what I was told.
I'm interested to see which type of tough questions will be asked to Wilson on 740 here shortly. Do they ask about the bracket being decided before UND kicked off? If so, what is his response? It's not like there weren't 10 other people there. The question I have is if anyone would call him out for any untruths? Too taboo for a committee member to step up?I would love to be a fly on the wall in the Fullerton/Idaho St AD convo that followed the selection process.
Grab your popcorn...will be interesting to see what transpires, if anything.I'm afraid they will spend most of their time talking about NDSU's bracket complaints.

My understanding is that EIU didn't beat any playoff teams. Is that right?
We beat #6 seed and FBS team. Doesn't make any more sense 2 days later.

Again, I hope Bubba doesn't share your attitude. Last I checked, all scholarshipped athletes signed letters of intent with the University of North Dakota, not Chris Mussman or Bubba Schweigert. Personally, I'd be disappointed in my alma mater and its coaches if they didn't honor their commitments to the athletes the university recruits, as long as the athletes remain committed to it. And if success or failure for North Dakota football rides on honoring two scholarships, we've got much bigger issues.
100% agree. Word gets around in recruiting when coaches pull scholarships from guys like Mollberg and Bartels. UND made a commitment to those two and they have been good teammates, students and citizens from everything I have heard. They also have both been starters within the last 1.5 seasons. I would be very surprised if Bubba did that.

And UND with their 61 total yards was competive against NDSU? You are dumb and dumber and dumbest if you think the Fighting Hawks were competive against NDSU.
you are right. we weren't competitive against NDSU at that time of the year.
Do you feel WIU was competitive when they gave up a mere 59 in their 59-7 loss to NDSU?

How about a 9-2 NC A&T or an 8-3 North Carolina Central? Or a 9-2 San Diego or Jacksonville if it all about the number of wins. Have you ever seen an 18-12 major ACC school gat an at large bid over a 26-4 mid major? WIU over UND is the same thing. WIU plays in the toughest FCS conference in the country and was 5-3 in it. They deserve to be in. You may have a case over EIU, but not WIU. They put all 5 MVFC teams on the same side of the bracket because they knew that was the only way to avoid another all MVFC final. They don't want that to happen again.
WIU is first team to make playoffs without 7 wins since forever. Definitely a case to be made that they didn't deserve to be in.

I remember back in 1991 we got snubbed in favor of Mankato State and people were just livid. Well, we made the playoffs the next year and we turned the corner as a program in 1993. So that is where I am coming from on this. Were we screwed? Yes. Is it the end of the world? No.
I remember 1991 and I was pissed then too. Thanks for having the year for that one. I was going to look it up but was too lazy.

I think everyone is up in arms about little or nothing. This team and program are headed in the right direction and it is clear that Bubba's efforts to change the culture are working. Two years ago, we were staring into the abyss of a 3-8 season with a head coaching vacancy and a lot of anxiety and uncertainty on this forum and elsewhere about where the program was headed and how long it would take to put the pieces back together. Now we are knocking on the door of the FCS playoffs and will have an excellent chance to break down that door next season. Bubba and his staff will use this as a motivational tool to get the team fired up and determined to have a true breakout season.
Forget about 2015. Focus on 2016, the Big Sky conference title and being a seeded team in the FCS playoffs with that all-important first round bye. That would be more productive than bellyaching about being screwed by the playoff committee. If this program improves like I think it will, the committee won't have a chance to screw us out of anything.
I agree with how far we've come in 2 years.
That said - this snub is more than 'little or nothing'. We wold be a lot better off with recruiting and development if we were headed to the playoffs. Also - you never know how many chances you will get and when the next one will come.

From GF Herald Article:
UND was passed over in favor of Eastern Illinois of the Ohio Valley Conference, as well as 6-5 Western Illinois of the Missouri Valley Football Conference. EIU, which was 7-4 overall, didn’t beat a playoff team and didn’t boast an FBS victory.
Committees end up with a lot of group think. I would guess that many of those on the selection committee would realize they screwed up after getting away from the meeting and looking at it from a distance. It's hard to make a case for a 6 win team making it since they have never had a 6 win team get in. EIU has no leg to stand on vs. UND either.

don't be so salty, I've had a busy fall. Had nothing to do with wins or losses. In my mind UND should have gotten in, but the people who get paid to make these decisions didn't and theirs is the only opinion that matters. They thought WIU's win over SDSU(as well as the rest of their resume)was more impressive than what UND showed on the field. So argue all you want about your PSU win being more impressive than theirs over SDSU but the people who matter in this scenario agree with me
Not arguing who's individual win was more impressive. What I am saying is that only having 6 DI wins is supposed to be a deal breaker. Period.
Per Daniel "Pinto" Gunderson of KFAN 740 in Fargo -
They (WIU) won six games all year. You know how many six win teams have made the playoffs with an at-large bid since they expanded the field from 16 to 20 teams? Never.

I've never once trolled on this board. Try again.
My posting theme in this thread revolves around the original poster saying UND's win over PSU trumps WIU's win over SDSU. I disagreed. If that sort of discussion is trolling than you need thicker skin my friend.
I don't think we are friends, are we? Doesn't really matter what you are saying. The fact is you saw no reason to post here while UND was winning late in their schedule. You show up again when things go bad for us.
-
North Texas wouldn't beat valley city state. Hardly a better win than anything SDSU has.
The loss to Northern Colorado? How does that fit into your equation?
You sure disappeared for a long time when UND started winning games. Troll on.

I don't buy the theory of missing out on playoffs will give us great motivation. It is motivation but the best motivation going into next year would have been to make the damn playoffs and build on it.

I still say we continue to get punished for fighting the NCAA on nickname.

Is it? I'm a USC fan and much was made of Reggie Bush pushing Lienart in v Notre Dame and as they talked of it this year, the announcers said that it's not the rule anymore.
I might be wrong. I thought it was still the rule

Its not illegal anymore for the O linemen to help the RB anymore.

Does anybody know if Dale was contacted to see if he had any interest in the UND job before Bubba was hired?
